"How could she still be alive?" Du Qiaoyun looked at everything in disbelief. She saw Ye Jingzhu was still alive, and Mo Liangzhe was actually with her. Ye Jingzhu was not dead!
Du Qiaoyun hid outside the iron bars, holding her breath as she listened to the conversation inside.
"Liangzhe, thank you for buying me sanitary pads," Ye Jingzhu said somewhat shyly. "I’m sorry for making you go so far."
"It's fine, I had nothing else to do," Mo Liangzhe replied with a faint smile. "Are you feeling okay? Does your stomach still hurt?"
"Much better now." Ye Jingzhu's face turned slightly red as she sighed in relief. "Finally, it's over. These past few days have been really uncomfortable."
"Who told you not to take care of yourself? It's autumn now; if you don't keep warm, of course, you'll have menstrual pain," Mo Liangzhe said like an elder educating a younger one.
"I know, I know," Ye Jingzhu stuck out her tongue. "I'll definitely pay more attention in the future."
"Jingzhu, aren't you going to look for Shen Xingyu?" Mo Liangzhe asked with a serious expression.
Ye Jingzhu shook her head and said lightly, "I've never been with him, and my life is good now. I'm very satisfied."
"Alright then." Mo Liangzhe understood Ye Jingzhu's temperament and stopped trying to persuade her.
"It's getting late; you should head back early," Ye Jingzhu told Mo Liangzhe. "I'm going in to rest."
"Okay, rest well." Mo Liangzhe watched Ye Jingzhu walk into the house before he left with a sense of relief.
Du Qiaoyun heard their conversation and bit her lip in anger. Ye Jingzhu, how could you still be alive! You are still alive!
Du Qiaoyun knew that even if she told Shen Xingyu that Ye Jingzhu was alive, Shen Xingyu would not spare her father.
Her eyes gleamed with malice. Ye Jingzhu, since I can't have a good life, then neither can you!
Du Qiaoyun realized that she had nothing left and was no longer afraid of death, but she couldn't let Ye Jingzhu live well!
Yes, she wanted Ye Jingzhu dead!
This thought suddenly popped into Du Qiaoyun's mind. She knew that if Shen Xingyu caught her, it would be the end for her too; she might as well drag Ye Jingzhu down with her.
Du Qiaoyun decided she needed to plan carefully.
---
Du Qiaoyun sat on a park bench, gazing at the blue sky while her heart felt heavy with darkness.
She clenched her fists tightly, "Ye Jingzhu, just wait to die."
"Hey, who is it? Can't you see?" Suddenly, a sharp voice rang in her ear.
Du Qiaoyun furrowed her brows and opened her eyes, seeing Su Mengman looking pitiful, leaning on a cane with a small maid following behind her.
"Su Mengman." Du Qiaoyun did not expect to see Su Mengman here.
"Du Qiaoyun?" Su Mengman was equally surprised to see Du Qiaoyun, feeling a bit guilty and unable to meet her gaze.
Du Qiaoyun noticed that both of Su Mengman's hands were broken and sneered, "Su Mengman, how did you end up like this?"
Su Mengman knew she looked terrible and shot Du Qiaoyun a resentful glare before telling the maid, "Hurry up and leave."
The maid did not dare to delay and helped Su Mengman away.
Watching Su Mengman's retreating figure, Du Qiaoyun felt much more balanced inside; after all, there was someone worse off than her.
