Shen Xingyu was slightly taken aback, lowering his head. "I truly regret knowing you."
Du Qiaoyun laughed heartily, "Xingyu, you're mistaken. It was I who made you see Ye Jingzhu's true colors."
"No." Shen Xingyu clenched his fists. "Du Qiaoyun, all along it has been me who overlooked you. I really regret it."
Hearing Shen Xingyu's words, Du Qiaoyun's eyes glistened with tears. "Xingyu, do you really think so?"
"Yes." Shen Xingyu nodded. "I've been thinking about our relationship these past few days. It's actually my fault; I've always neglected you and hurt you."
Du Qiaoyun reached out her arms to hug Shen Xingyu. "Xingyu, do you know how happy I am?"
Shen Xingyu clenched his fists, fighting the urge to push Du Qiaoyun away. "Qiao Yun, today is our date. Can we not talk about these things anymore?"
"Mm." Du Qiaoyun nodded, her tears turning into a smile.
Shen Xingyu took Du Qiaoyun's hand and led her to the center of the rooftop, where tables and chairs were set up. A candlelight dinner awaited them, surrounded by nine hundred ninety-nine roses, filling the air with floral fragrance.
Du Qiaoyun was astonished. "All of this is prepared for me?"
"Yes." Shen Xingyu nodded, pulling Du Qiaoyun in front of him. He held her hand and kissed it gently before pulling out a jewelry box from his pocket. He opened it to reveal a diamond necklace.
"This is for you." Shen Xingyu took out the necklace and placed it around Du Qiaoyun's neck.
Looking at the necklace around her neck, Du Qiaoyun smiled brightly.
Suddenly, brilliant sparks erupted in the sky—fireworks.
Du Qiaoyun looked up at the sky full of fireworks, feeling extremely happy.
The reporters who had been prepared immediately captured this moment.
At the same time, Ye Jingzhu opened her eyes, staring at the white ceiling. She realized she had been asleep for a long time.
"You're awake?" A nurse approached Ye Jingzhu's bedside.
Ye Jingzhu nodded slightly. "How long have I slept?"
"Half a month," the nurse replied with a smile.
"What about Shen Xingyu?" Ye Jingzhu asked the nurse, recalling that it was Shen Xingyu who brought her to the hospital before she fell unconscious.
"Mr. Shen left yesterday; he said there was something going on at the company." The nurse poured a glass of water and handed it to Ye Jingzhu. "You should drink some water first."
Ye Jingzhu took the glass with both hands. So he had something to attend to; she had thought the first person she would see upon waking would be him. It seemed she had been overthinking it. How could Shen Xingyu care about her?
"Wow, it's Mr. Shen!" The nurse exclaimed as she looked at the television on the wall.
Ye Jingzhu followed the nurse's gaze, and on the screen, there were scenes of Shen Xingyu on a date with Du Qiaoyun. Shen Xingyu was wearing a white tailcoat, looking exceptionally charming under the lights.
Watching the television, Ye Jingzhu felt a dull ache in her heart. Was this what Shen Xingyu meant by needing to resolve something? It turned out he was on a date with Du Qiaoyun.
She closed her eyes, not wanting to see any more of it.
"Mr. Shen is really impressive; he brings you to the hospital and then goes off to a date," the nurse said while watching the television.
Ye Jingzhu opened her eyes and looked at the nurse. "What did you say?"
"I said Mr. Shen brought you to the hospital and then left," the nurse replied, looking at Ye Jingzhu. "What's wrong?"
So that was how it was. Ye Jingzhu's eyes slightly moistened as she shook her head. "I'm fine."
As she watched the intimate scenes of Shen Xingyu and Du Qiaoyun on the screen, she closed her eyes again. Perhaps it was time for her to leave. Shen Xingyu had never loved her; no matter what she did, she could never win his love.
