Ye Jingzhu smiled indifferently as she walked step by step onto the stage, standing in front of Shen Xingyu, staring at him intently.
Shen Xingyu felt her burning gaze and turned his head down to look at her.
"Jingzhu, what are you doing?" Du Qiaoyun said, looking flustered as she grasped Shen Xingyu's arm. "Today is my wedding with Xingyu; it's inappropriate for you to wear a wedding dress."
Ye Jingzhu ignored Du Qiaoyun and looked at Shen Xingyu. "Shen Xingyu, I just want to ask you one question: in this past year, have you ever loved me? Have you ever cared about me?"
Shen Xingyu did not expect her to ask this question and was momentarily lost in thought.
Du Qiaoyun tightened her grip on Shen Xingyu's arm anxiously. Shen Xingyu came back to his senses and said coldly, "Ye Jingzhu, a woman as vicious as you makes me feel disgusted just by seeing you. Do you really think you deserve my love?"
"I'm vicious?" Ye Jingzhu laughed lightly. "Where have I been vicious?"
"You caused Wanwan's death, my mother's death, and made Du Qiaoyun suffer from kidney failure. How can you still come here and ask me where you've been vicious?" Shen Xingyu said disdainfully.
"I didn't." Ye Jingzhu shouted, "I didn't cause Wanwan's death, nor did I cause your mother's death, and I certainly didn't cause Du Qiaoyun's kidney failure."
"At this point, you still don't regret it," Shen Xingyu said with contempt as he glared at Ye Jingzhu. "You truly disgust me."
Ye Jingzhu felt a burning sensation in her eyes; she slightly raised her head to prevent tears from falling. Her voice trembled as she said, "Shen Xingyu, thank you for giving me love and hope, but I hate you for not believing me and for hurting me."
Shen Xingyu frowned deeply; he did not understand what she meant by that.
Ye Jingzhu took a dagger out of her bag and drew it from its sheath, the blade gleaming with silver light.
Shen Xingyu's heart skipped a beat; he instinctively reached out to snatch the knife from her hand, but Ye Jingzhu had already plunged the blade into her own heart.
Shen Xingyu was stunned, and the crowd gasped in shock.
Du Qiaoyun looked at Ye Jingzhu in disbelief; she actually dared to stab herself in the heart.
Ye Jingzhu felt her heart being torn apart little by little; pain made her forehead break out in cold sweat, and her face turned pale instantly. She released the dagger, which fell to the ground with a crisp sound.
She staggered back a few steps, swaying before collapsing onto the stage.
"Ye Jingzhu." Shen Xingyu rushed forward and supported Ye Jingzhu's body. "Have you gone mad? You would harm yourself."
Ye Jingzhu smiled bitterly. "You finally held me."
"You..." Shen Xingyu stared at her. "Do you think I'll believe you now? No way."
"I know," Ye Jingzhu said weakly. "I will never believe that Wanwan and Auntie's deaths have nothing to do with me."
"You..." Shen Xingyu's hand trembled slightly.
"Shen Xingyu, I really didn't lie to you," Ye Jingzhu felt her heart aching more and more. "I truly didn't harm them."
"You..."
"I know you don't believe me, so I'm giving my life back to you." Ye Jingzhu felt her breath quickening, and everything in front of her began to blur.
"Ye Jingzhu, who asked you to repay me?" Shen Xingyu shouted at Ye Jingzhu, "I don't need it."
Ye Jingzhu forced a bitter smile. "Shen Xingyu, I wish you happiness."
"I don't want that," Shen Xingyu tightly embraced Ye Jingzhu, feeling as if something had violently pulled at his heart.
He was so afraid; he feared Ye Jingzhu's determination, and he feared losing her.
"Ye Jingzhu, you can't leave me," Shen Xingyu shouted.
Seeing Shen Xingyu's emotional outburst, Du Qiaoyun immediately stepped forward and pulled Ye Jingzhu out of Shen Xingyu's arms, then slapped Ye Jingzhu hard.
