Xie Yunchu's eyes sparkled, a hint of shyness coloring her cheeks as she gently nodded and said, "Since Young Master Wang has kindly invited me, I shall do my best."
Seeing her agreement, Young Master Wang felt a surge of pride and quickly ordered his servants to prepare for the performance.
The melodious sound of the guqin began to play, and Xie Yunchu gracefully moved to the center of the hall. Her figure was light, and her dance was enchanting, like a butterfly fluttering in the air, capturing everyone's attention.
As the dance concluded, Xie Yunchu breathed lightly, beads of sweat forming on her forehead, which only highlighted her fair skin and delicate beauty.
"Wonderful!" The crowd erupted into enthusiastic applause. Young Master Wang, his face flushed with excitement, approached Xie Yunchu holding a goblet filled with wine. "Miss Xie, your dancing skills are indeed remarkable. I raise a glass to you!"
Xie Yunchu calmly accepted the goblet, a barely noticeable cold smile playing at the corners of her mouth.
"Miss, be careful; there may be a trick," Li Yun's voice whispered urgently in her ear.
Xie Yunchu subtly tilted her body as she brushed past Li Yun. He swiftly took out another goblet from his sleeve and exchanged it with the one in Xie Yunchu's hand before quietly retreating into the crowd.
All of this happened in the blink of an eye; aside from Xie Yunchu and Li Yun, no one noticed their actions.
"Miss Xie, why aren't you drinking? Do you find me unworthy?" Young Master Wang asked, slightly displeased when he saw that Xie Yunchu had yet to take a sip.
Xie Yunchu lifted her gaze, her eyes clear and sincere as she replied, "I just find this wine a bit strong and dare not drink too much."
"Hahaha, Miss Xie is joking! This is fine grape wine, rich and flavorful; how could it be strong?" Young Master Wang said as he raised his own goblet and drank it all in one go.
Seeing this, Xie Yunchu decided not to refuse any longer and took a gentle sip from her cup.
Young Master Wang had been secretly observing Xie Yunchu. When he saw her drink the wine, a glint of malicious satisfaction flashed in his eyes.
However, moments later, Young Master Wang's expression suddenly changed to one of distress. He felt a tumultuous churn in his stomach as waves of nausea surged over him.
"Ugh..." Young Master Wang couldn't help but retch, his face pale, beads of sweat rolling down from his forehead.
"Young Master Wang, what's wrong with you?" Xie Yunchu asked, feigning surprise, her tone laced with concern.
"I... my stomach hurts..." Young Master Wang clutched his abdomen, bending over in pain, unable to say another word.
"Quick, go fetch a doctor!" The people around him immediately became flustered upon seeing his condition.
Xiao Jinyu sat in the corner, watching everything unfold with a playful smile at the corner of his mouth.
"What happened to Young Master Wang? He looks so unwell," Xie Yunchu pretended to be shocked, covering her lips, though a glint of cunning flashed in her eyes.
"I... I..." Young Master Wang could no longer form a complete sentence. He held his stomach with one hand, his face ashen, beads of sweat continuously rolling down from his temples. His body swayed dangerously as he looked like he was about to faint.
"Young Master Wang must not handle alcohol well; you should go rest," Xiao Jinyu finally spoke after remaining silent. He slowly stood up and walked over to Xie Yunchu's side, his gaze lingering on her for a moment with a barely noticeable smile.
Seeing his plan fall through and being humiliated in public made Young Master Wang feel both ashamed and angry. However, the pain churning in his stomach left him too weak to argue. He shot Xie Yunchu a fierce glare and stumbled out of the banquet hall with the help of his attendants.
Once Young Master Wang left, the guests began to murmur among themselves. Xie Yunchu, however, acted as if nothing had happened, returning calmly to her seat and taking a small sip from her teacup.
"Yunchu, are you okay?" Shen Qingyi asked worriedly, lowering her voice. "What about Young Master Wang..."
"Don't worry; I'm fine," Xie Yunchu reassured her with a calming look, signaling that there was no need for concern.
Seeing her composed demeanor, Shen Qingyi stopped asking further questions but felt even more disdain for Young Master Wang in her heart.
The banquet hall returned to its superficial calmness as singing and dancing continued. Guests raised their cups and exchanged laughter as if the earlier unpleasantness was merely a minor interruption.
Xiao Jinyu looked at Xie Yunchu's profile, his gaze deep and inscrutable, feeling a heightened curiosity about her.
"Miss Xie has quite the skill," he suddenly spoke, his voice low and magnetic, laced with a hint of amusement.
Xie Yunchu turned to him, a faint smile curving her lips. "Young Master Xiao is overpraising me. Yunchu merely applied a slight punishment; how can that be called a skill?"
Xiao Jinyu chuckled softly, choosing not to respond further. He raised his wine glass in a distant toast to her.
Xie Yunchu did not decline, elegantly raising her glass in return.
As the music concluded, Young Master Wang returned. Although his face remained pale, his eyes were now darker and more menacing than before.
"Xie Yunchu, how dare you..." Young Master Wang glared at her through gritted teeth, wishing he could tear her apart.
Yet Xie Yunchu seemed oblivious to his fury. She leisurely set down her wine glass and said coolly, "Young Master Wang, one can eat recklessly but must not speak recklessly. When did I..."
"You dare to argue!" Young Master Wang shouted angrily, drawing his long sword from his waist and pointing it directly at Xie Yunchu. "Today, you will pay for your actions!"
Before he finished speaking, Young Master Wang lunged at Xie Yunchu with his sword, its blade glinting coldly and radiating a fierce killing intent.
Xie Yunchu had been prepared; she nimbly dodged his attack with grace.
Young Master Wang missed his strike and grew even angrier. He swung his sword fiercely, each move brutal as he pressed closer, determined to eliminate Xie Yunchu.
No longer evading, Xie Yunchu calmly took a long sword from a nearby guard and engaged Young Master Wang in combat.
In an instant, the room was filled with flashing blades and clashing steel as chaos erupted in the banquet hall.
Guests scrambled in panic to avoid being caught up in the sudden fight.
"Young Master Wang, what are you doing? This is the Wang Family, not a place for you to run wild!" Shen Qingyi rushed forward to stop him but was knocked back by Young Master Wang's palm, a trace of blood spilling from the corner of her mouth.
"Qingyi!" Xie Yunchu exclaimed in shock, quickly drawing his sword to force Young Master Wang back. He then moved to Shen Qingyi's side to support her.
"I'm fine," Shen Qingyi shook her head, looking at Xie Yunchu with concern. "Yunchu, be careful!"
Xie Yunchu nodded, his gaze firmly fixed on Young Master Wang, a glint of coldness flashing in his eyes.
"Young Master Wang, you are going too far!" Xie Yunchu said coldly. "Today, I will show you that a woman from the Xie Family is not someone to be bullied!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Xie Yunchu swung his long sword and initiated an attack on Young Master Wang.
His swordplay was light and graceful, yet concealed deadly intent, contrasting sharply with Young Master Wang's moves.
Although Young Master Wang was more skilled than Xie Yunchu, his anger clouded his judgment at this moment, causing him to be at a disadvantage against Xie Yunchu.
"Good!" Xiao Jinyu watched from the side, a hint of admiration flashing in his eyes as he couldn't help but murmur in praise.
Xie Yunchu's sword techniques became increasingly fierce, and Young Master Wang gradually found himself on the back foot, beads of sweat forming on his forehead.
"Young Master Wang, I didn't want to hold this against you today, but since you keep pushing me, don't blame me for being ruthless!" Xie Yunchu said coldly, pointing his long sword directly at Young Master Wang's throat.
Seeing the sword tip so close, fear finally flickered in Young Master Wang's eyes.
