Su Qing curled her lip dismissively. "Don't worry, I'll help you figure out the company's issues. As for the house, it's just a material possession. Once we get married in the future, we can buy a bigger one."
"Married?" Chen Mo suddenly looked up, disbelief written all over his face as he stared at Su Qing. "Didn't you say…"
Su Qing impatiently interrupted him, "What did I say? Chen Ge, what's wrong with you? Are you having delusions? We've only known each other for a short time; why would we get married? I just meant that when you have money later, we can buy a bigger house to live in together. Is that so wrong?"
Chen Mo stared at Su Qing in shock, as if he were seeing her for the first time. It dawned on him that he had been deceived by Su Qing's facade of gentleness; she didn't truly love him—she was only interested in his money!
"Why… why are you doing this to me?" Chen Mo's voice trembled, filled with pain and despair.
Su Qing stood up, looking down at him with disdain in her eyes. "Why can't I treat you this way? Chen Mo, think about it carefully. How did you abandon your wife to pursue me? Everything you have now should have belonged to her!"
Su Qing's words cut into Chen Mo like sharp blades, piercing his heart deeply. He slumped helplessly on the sofa, staring blankly at the ceiling as images of Lin Wei flooded his mind.
"Lin Wei…" Chen Mo murmured, filled with regret and self-blame. He finally realized how foolish he had been to give up someone who truly loved him for the sake of so-called love.
Watching Chen Mo in his desolate state, Su Qing felt no pity—only endless disdain and satisfaction. She turned to grab her bag, preparing to leave this nauseating place.
"Where are you going?" Chen Mo lifted his head and weakly asked.
"What does it matter where I'm going?" Su Qing replied without looking back. "I don't owe you anything anymore. From now on, we go our separate ways; you'd better not bother me again!"
With that, Su Qing walked out of the room without looking back, leaving Chen Mo alone in the empty space, nursing his wounds in solitude.
Chen Mo closed his eyes in despair, two lines of tears sliding down the corners of his eyes. He knew that it was too late for him to say anything now; he had lost everything, including the woman he loved most.
With no way out, Chen Mo had to muster the courage to find Lin Wei. He desperately hoped that Lin Wei would consider their past relationship and give him another chance. However, when he arrived at Lin Wei's building, he saw her holding hands with a stranger, laughing and chatting as they walked past him.
The man was tall, handsome, and charming, a stark contrast to the disheveled Chen Mo. Chen Mo recognized him immediately; the man was Lu Zhe, Lin Wei's lawyer.
"Lin Wei..." Chen Mo gathered his courage and called out to her.
Lin Wei stopped in her tracks and turned around. Upon seeing Chen Mo standing before her, there was no hint of surprise in her eyes—only calmness and indifference.
"What are you doing here?" Lin Wei asked coldly.
"I..." Chen Mo opened his mouth but couldn't find the words. He wanted to plead for Lin Wei's forgiveness, but seeing her icy gaze made all his words stick in his throat.
"Chen Mo, it's over between us," Lin Wei said calmly. "I hope you won't disturb my life anymore."
"No, Lin Wei, please let me explain..."
"There's nothing to explain," Lin Wei interrupted him. "I have a new life now, and I hope you can find your own happiness as well."
"A new life?" Chen Mo looked at Lin Wei in disbelief. "Are you... going to marry him?"
Lin Wei didn't answer; she merely smiled faintly, then linked her arm with Lu Zhe's and turned to leave, leaving Chen Mo standing there alone as if struck by lightning.
Watching Lin Wei's distant figure fade away, Chen Mo's heart shattered completely. He knew that he had lost Lin Wei for good and also lost the right to be happy.
In the end, with despair consuming him, Chen Mo could only wander the streets alone, paying a painful price for his actions.
