"The information you provided is very detailed; I believe we will have results soon."
"Thank you for your hard work," Lin Wei replied before hanging up, a hint of determination flashing in her eyes. Chen Mo, this is just the beginning.
Meanwhile, Chen Mo and Su Qing returned to the office. On the surface, they pretended to be unfazed, but their inner anxiety grew day by day.
"Mr. Chen, Mr. Liu and Mr. Li have called to inquire about the collaboration; their tone seems off," the secretary knocked on the office door, sounding somewhat flustered.
Chen Mo's fingers tapped nervously on the desk, his expression darkening. "I understand. You can leave now."
Su Qing sat on the sofa, anxiously twisting her fingers. "Brother Chen, could it be that Lin Wei..."
"Impossible!" Chen Mo abruptly stood up, interrupting Su Qing. "What evidence could she possibly have? It's just a bluff."
Despite saying this, Chen Mo felt increasingly uncertain. Lin Wei's cold gaze as she left lingered in his mind like a persistent itch. He picked up his phone to call Lin Wei, only to find that her number had been disconnected.
"Damn it!" Chen Mo slammed his phone down onto the desk, a sense of foreboding rising within him.
Chen Mo irritably tugged at his tie, trying to calm himself down. Seeing this, Su Qing got up and walked behind him, gently massaging his temples while softly saying, "Brother Chen, don't worry; where there's a will, there's a way. We will definitely find a solution."
Chen Mo closed his eyes and took a deep breath. Su Qing's words and actions slightly eased his anxious emotions. He held Su Qing's hand and pulled her onto his lap, speaking wearily, "I hope so. I just don't understand why those partners suddenly changed their minds. There must be some issue behind this."
Su Qing nestled in Chen Mo's embrace, her eyes darting around as she feigned concern, "Could it be that Lin Wei... did something behind the scenes?"
"Impossible!" Chen Mo suddenly opened his eyes, firmly denying Su Qing's speculation. "What evidence could she possibly have? It's just bluster."
Seeing Chen Mo so certain, a glimmer of cunning flashed in Su Qing's eyes, but she quickly masked it and continued softly, "Brother Chen, hearing you say that makes me feel at ease. I believe in you; you will definitely find a solution."
Chen Mo tightened his hold on Su Qing, feeling slightly more settled inside. He picked up his phone and dialed Lin Wei's number again, but it was still out of service.
"Damn it!" Chen Mo seethed with anger, slamming his phone down on the desk, causing the screen to shatter instantly.
"Brother Chen, please don't get angry; take care not to harm yourself," Su Qing comforted Chen Mo while secretly observing his reaction, secretly pleased with herself.
At that moment, Lin Wei was sitting in an elegantly decorated café across from Lu Zhe.
"Are you sure you want to do this? It might completely infuriate Chen Mo," Lu Zhe said, putting down the documents in his hands, a frown creasing his brow with concern.
Lin Wei lifted her coffee cup and took a gentle sip, her gaze resolute. "He has no way out now; I gave him a chance."
Lu Zhe looked at Lin Wei with a complex expression. In her eyes, he saw determination mingled with sadness. He understood that everything Lin Wei was doing was not solely for revenge; it was also to give herself closure—for the love they once had and for the person she was now.
"Alright, I support you." In the end, Lu Zhe chose to respect Lin Wei's decision. He knew that once this woman made up her mind, she would not easily change it.
Lin Wei put down the coffee cup, a faint smile playing at the corners of her mouth, her eyes filled with gratitude.
"Thank you, Lawyer Lu," Lin Wei said softly, her tone sincere.
Lu Zhe looked at Lin Wei, a hint of barely noticeable tenderness flashing in his eyes. He picked up the documents on the table and handed them to Lin Wei.
"This is the evidence I collected regarding Chen Mo's company's illegal operations. You can take a look."
Lin Wei took the documents and began to read through them carefully. The files detailed the evidence of Chen Mo's company evading taxes and some specifics about commercial bribery. A slight smirk appeared on Lin Wei's lips.
"This evidence is enough to bring him down," Lin Wei said as she closed the documents, her tone calm yet imbued with undeniable determination.
