Zombie Queen thought she could follow her imagined plan: first deal with Fierce Eagle, then take care of Blue Face Hero, and finally confront Zombie King. However, since Zombie King charged in to protect Blue Face Hero, she had to change her original plan.
Zombie King was immobilized, his body slowly lifted into the air by five Venomous Blades. At Zombie Queen's command, he would be torn to shreds.
"No..." Injured all over, Blue Face Hero struggled to stand up, but as soon as he tried to straighten up, the pain from his torn abdomen intensified. He could only hunch over, unable to run or even lift his gun.
"I can't... I can't watch him die..."
Despite saying this, the exhausted Blue Face Hero was truly powerless.
"Miao Chengmin—"
Everyone's attention shifted at the sound of that scream.
Ming Juan stood on the second floor of the internet café, her roar reaching almost the highest decibel she could manage in her life. Tears were blown away by the cold wind from her pale cheeks; her scream revealed both heartbreak and an intense rage burning within her.
Had they just reunited only to be taken away by death?
Ming Juan knelt on the glass-strewn floor with a thud, looking at Zombie Queen with pleading eyes.
"Juanzi..."
In Zombie King's mind, only memories of being with her remained. He felt that perhaps this was letting go.
"I'm sorry."
Blue Face Hero, leaning against a discarded car, trembled as he summoned a gun with unsteady hands. But now, he was severely weakened; lifting a few kilograms of weight was nearly impossible for him.
"Weren't you always wanting to kill me? Have you succeeded? Are you happy?" Zombie King retorted angrily at Zombie Queen.
"That's right, but it's a pity that your past lover will have to watch you die," Zombie Queen sneered.
"Yes." Zombie King said one last thing, "Do you think you're any different from the slave traders who oppressed you three hundred years ago?"
The smile on Zombie Queen's face shattered instantly with those words. The last remnants of her conscience were awakened. But since it had come to this point, what did it matter?
"Hmph." Zombie Queen tilted her head up slightly, "It doesn't matter anymore."
Ming Juan, who had been staring tearfully at the two corpses, suddenly glanced towards a shadow in the southern sky. And it was moving extremely fast!
Just as Zombie King felt his body being stretched apart, the chaotic Force Field behind Zombie Queen was immediately engulfed by a massive red-yellow fireball!
After a violent flash, Blue Face Hero looked toward the firelight; he couldn't see anything but guessed what was happening from the sounds.
"We shouldn't be too late."
Jiao An pressed the switch on his communicator while an anxious Qin Weishan kept his finger on the missile launch button, closely watching for any movement in the flames.
The Defender's Hovercraft!
The thrusters of the Hovercraft blasted downward, maintaining a slow hover under Jiao An's control to prevent any retaliatory attacks from Zombie Queen.
"Just in time, guys."
An Xiaotian unlocked his helmet's armor and finally dared to take a breath. Without his timely location and distress signal, Miao Chengmin would have likely been torn to pieces.
The explosion sent Zombie Queen, caught off guard by the blast's immense force, flying away while the five Venomous Blades still dragged along Zombie King. However, despite being nearly out of strength, Blue Face Hero, with great effort, reached out and grabbed onto passing Zombie King, while using his other hand to shoot a magnetic grappling hook into the nearby wall, forcibly pulling Zombie King out from between the deadly blades.
"Sky..."
Ming Juan covered her ears and crouched down, waiting for the flames to subside before she shakily stood up, trying to find Miao Chengmin's body. However, she underestimated the Defender's adaptability. In just a few seconds, Miao Chengmin had already been rescued, and the torn parts of his body were rapidly healing. Then, Ming Juan saw him embracing a figure enveloped in a ghostly blue hue.
"Uh..." Blue Face Hero never expected to be hugged by a zombie.
"Thank you," Zombie King said as he released him.
"No need for that," Blue Face Hero waved his hand generously. "Besides, you shouldn't thank me. If it weren't for Team An's positioning and distress signal, the other Defenders wouldn't have arrived in time. Moreover, without your lover, even if we did arrive, you would still be dead."
Zombie King turned to look at Ming Juan upstairs, who was covering her mouth and waving at him.
"Team An, request to dock the Hovercraft; we are coming down to assist."
Nightmare and Divine Fist had already donned their gear and were ready to jump down at any moment.
"No," Fierce Eagle refused.
The two exchanged glances at the Hovercraft's exit.
"You two go support Lu Sha and Aibo; they are in the block seven hundred meters away at five o'clock, engaging in guerrilla tactics with the Spirit Corps against the remaining Soulless in the city. Go lend a hand."
"Alright." Nightmare slung her recently removed gun back over her shoulder. "Just a reminder, the Hydrogen Bomb strike is in five minutes."
"I know." Fierce Eagle extended his hand, his fingertips beginning to crackle with sound.
"I can't guarantee that we will survive to complete the mission."
Upon hearing this, Divine Fist immediately relaxed his tightly clenched white gauntlets.
"Received." Nightmare sat back down, and under her control, the Hovercraft flew towards Xiao Kuang's battlefield.
"Huh?"
Blue Face Hero was applying a coagulant while observing his surroundings with heightened alertness. He turned around and noticed that Fierce Eagle's battle sword was slowly pulling itself out of the ground!
"The entire blade is wrapped in Variant current," Blue Face Hero recognized immediately as he looked towards Fierce Eagle, who was half-kneeling in the distance. "He... he actually learned to utilize the Variant current within himself instead of relying on his armor core to suppress it like a disease! He is trying to resonate with the Variant current left in his battle sword to summon it back into his hands!"
Blue Face Hero couldn't help but feel admiration for him from the bottom of his heart.
"The highest realm of overcoming demons is coexisting with them. This twenty-four-year-old young man has achieved that."
Zombie King was still gazing deeply into Ming Juan's eyes; he completely missed the process of the battle sword floating and flying towards Fierce Eagle.
"Liu Xuan, Nars, energy fluctuations are getting closer; prepare for battle!"
Fierce Eagle noticed Blue Face Hero looking at him with admiration while remaining motionless; he felt pleased but still prioritized warning Blue Face Hero about the danger visible on his screen.
Blue Face Hero turned back and pulled Zombie King along. Zombie King immediately turned around to look at Zombie Queen approaching from the snowy night in the distance.
"I discovered..."
Blue Face Hero summoned three spikes used for launching Micro Death Line as he spoke.
"You have no scent anymore."
Zombie King was startled and suddenly remembered how excitedly he had hugged Blue Face Hero moments ago.
"Really?" the Zombie King asked, skeptical, as he lacked the sense of smell.
The Blue Face Hero nodded and said, "Once this battle is over, hurry and embrace your beloved. I believe she will never reject you."
He understood that the outcome of this fight was imminent—it was essentially a battle of attrition for both sides. Moreover, it was evident that the Zombie Queen had nearly burned out her soul, as indicated by her choice to walk instead of teleport.
The Zombie Queen was no longer interested in pleasantries; five Venomous Blades lunged at them directly.
As the Blue Face Hero rolled to the side, he activated the Micro Death Line, swiftly severing two of them. The Zombie King could only defend against the onslaught of blades with his Chaos Barrier.
"Vroom—"
A laser shot from behind, causing three Venomous Blades to quickly evade while glancing back at the Fierce Eagle behind the Zombie King and Blue Face Hero.
Although the Fierce Eagle's armor was temporarily incapacitated due to an overload from excessive Cosmic Energy exposure, he could stand again if he released the Variant Current within him to dilute the energy in his armor, but that required time. However, just because his armor was down didn’t mean his battle sword was ineffective.
Seizing the opportunity, the Zombie King gripped two Venomous Blades tightly and unleashed Chaos Power in his hands. After a few struggles, he twisted and broke them apart.
The last blade attempted a sneak attack, but the Blue Face Hero aimed for its head and fired a Micro Death Line.
"Is that all?" he shrugged at the Zombie Queen.
With gritted teeth, the Zombie Queen slammed her claw into the ground, unleashing a powerful Shockwave accompanied by a tsunami-like surge of energy towards them.
The Blue Face Hero quickly performed six consecutive flips to create distance and activated his Thruster to ascend into the sky.
"Oh no!" he suddenly remembered that the Fierce Eagle was still behind them!
It was too late; the immobile Fierce Eagle could only watch as the Shockwave surged toward him in a grayish-white energy field…
"Ah!"
With his arm raised to shield his eyes, the Fierce Eagle heard a loud shout before him. The Zombie King had teleported right in front of him and slammed his fist, charged with Black Lightning, into the Shockwave just one meter away!
To the astonishment of the Blue Face Hero, a dark wave surged up before the Zombie King, colliding directly with the Shockwave!
The energy fluctuations generated by the Zombie Queen were suppressed as if two waves had crashed into each other, creating even higher surges before collapsing onto the shattered asphalt road in front of the Zombie King.
"That's incredible..." The Blue Face Hero realized that he seemed to be lacking in noteworthy contributions.
"She has no tricks left!" declared the Zombie King to the Blue Face Hero. "It’s time to end this."
Though he said so, neither the Zombie King nor Fierce Eagle knew how to finish it off. Both were severely drained of energy at this point.
Watching the Black Lightning coiling around the Zombie King sparked a bold idea in Blue Face Hero's mind.
"Uh-oh..." The Zombie Queen stumbled slightly, nearly falling over.
The Blue Face Hero noticed but knew that even if they pressed on now, they might not stand a chance. The Zombie Queen would surely fight desperately, aiming to take them down with her—even in death—while she still had her formidable Chaos Force Field for protection.
His Micro Death Line was effective against her but was an extremely rare weapon banned across the universe; using it for more than a minute would deplete nearly all his reserves. It took considerable courage just to use it from his weapon Curry.
Unless there was another way to absorb her Force Field…
"Chengmin."
The Blue Face Hero extended his hand toward the Zombie Queen.
"That won’t work," said the Zombie King. Even if their energies converged at one point, it would be impossible to break through her Force Field.
"I didn't mean it that way."
The Blue Face Hero lowered his hand slightly, and a beam of Cosmic Energy shot out from the Tianchuang Gloves, but it struck the ground in front of the Zombie Queen.
"Hmph." The Zombie Queen found it amusing. "Looks like you’re not doing too well either, if you can’t even aim straight."
"I didn’t miss," the Blue Face Hero retorted with a cold smirk. "It was right on target."
Though the Zombie King didn’t understand his meaning, he still raised his hand and fired a black beam toward the spot where the Blue Face Hero's ray had landed.
"What happens when Cosmic Energy and Anti-Cosmic Energy converge?" the Blue Face Hero said, increasing the intensity of his beam. "Seems you’ve forgotten, beast."
The Zombie Queen was instantly enraged by that title. Just as she was about to leap up, she felt a powerful force pulling her down.
"A black hole?!"
The Zombie Queen suddenly recalled an incident when she had absorbed energy from the Blue Face Hero earlier.
"Correct," the Blue Face Hero replied.
The Zombie King finally understood; he immediately intensified his attack, causing the black hole to grow larger. The surrounding buildings began to tear apart and get sucked in, everything gravitating towards the black hole!
"Ugh—ah—" The Zombie Queen used all her strength; even with teleportation, she could only overlap her shadow and real body in mid-air infinitely.
The Force Field around her couldn’t escape the black hole’s pull. In just a few seconds, only her physical form remained.
The Blue Face Hero activated the Thruster to maximum power, holding onto Fierce Eagle, yet they were still being pulled forward.
"Time to retreat!" the Blue Face Hero quickly called out to the Zombie King—he and the Zombie King, along with Fierce Eagle, were now just a few feet away from the Zombie Queen.
Without energy input, the black hole vanished instantly, and the nearly-dragged-in Zombie Queen collapsed to the ground, gasping for breath.
"Ah—"
A scream echoed from afar as the Zombie King noticed that an internet café nearby was on the verge of collapsing due to the black hole's pull!
"Juanzi!" The Zombie King stomped down hard on the ground beneath him, launching himself toward the café.
"Hehehe…"
The Zombie Queen could no longer rise; she stared at the ground and struggled weakly.
Fierce Eagle exchanged glances with the Blue Face Hero. Drawing his battle sword without mercy, he plunged it toward her neck…
"Justice Sentence—you're sentenced to death."
Fierce Eagle kicked away the severed head of the Zombie Queen and turned with Blue Face Hero to face the approaching Zombie King, who was slowly walking toward them while cradling Ming Juan in his arms.
