"Not bad, barely passing," Heizi said as he walked up to me. "Get up and continue training!"
I struggled to rise from the ground, feeling as if my whole body was falling apart, but I gritted my teeth and continued to follow Heizi through various brutal training exercises.
Day after day, I was sweating in this underground base, enduring pain that most people couldn't imagine, and my physical fitness was rapidly improving.
"Bang!"
I dodged a heavy punch from Heizi and quickly kicked out, forcing him back.
"Not bad, kid, you're improving fast!" Heizi said, flexing his wrists with a hint of appreciation in his eyes.
"Your foundation is solid; it seems you've trained before?" Heizi asked.
I shook my head. "No, I've never done any fighting before."
Heizi frowned slightly, a look of confusion crossing his face. "Then your learning ability..."
Before he could finish his sentence, I suddenly felt a sharp pain in my head, a powerful force surging from within me.
"Ah!" I cried out in pain, clutching my head and collapsing to the ground.
"Lu Fan, what's wrong?" Heizi rushed over to support me upon seeing my condition.
"I... I don't know..." I said through gritted teeth. "My head hurts so much; it feels like something is trying to burst out from inside me..."
Heizi's expression changed; he sensed a powerful force emanating from me that made him feel uneasy.
"Uncle Zhao!" Heizi shouted towards the training area outside.
Uncle Zhao hurried over and upon seeing my pained expression, his face immediately turned serious.
"What happened?" Uncle Zhao asked.
"I don't know either; he just suddenly became like this..." Heizi shook his head.
Uncle Zhao walked up to me and placed his hand on my wrist. A warm flow of energy entered my body through his palm.
I felt a bit more comfortable, and my headache had lessened considerably.
Uncle Zhao withdrew his hand, his brow furrowed, eyes filled with confusion and shock.
"Inside you..." Uncle Zhao took a deep breath, "there is such powerful energy!"
I raised my head to look at Uncle Zhao, my eyes full of questions. "Uncle Zhao, what is going on? Why do I..."
"Lu Fan," Uncle Zhao interrupted me, "your background is not as simple as you think..."
"Your background is not as simple as you think..." Uncle Zhao paused, gazing into the distance with a deep look, as if lost in distant memories.
I held back the pain in my head and sat up straight, waiting for Uncle Zhao to continue. Heizi stood nearby, also showing a concerned expression.
"Actually, you are..." Just as Uncle Zhao was about to speak, he suddenly stopped and turned his gaze toward the entrance of the training ground.
A man in a black suit hurried in, looking anxious. "Mr. Zhao, there is someone outside requesting to see you. They claim to be an old acquaintance of Mr. Lu."
Uncle Zhao said nothing but nodded slightly before turning to me and saying, "You rest for a moment; I'll be right back." With that, he turned and followed the man in black out of the training ground.
I watched Uncle Zhao's departing figure, filled with confusion and unease. What secrets were hidden in my background? Why did Uncle Zhao suddenly stop speaking? Who was the person outside?
A series of questions swirled in my mind, making me feel restless. I leaned weakly against the sandbag, trying to sort out my thoughts.
"Don't worry; Mr. Zhao will tell you," Heizi said, patting my shoulder in comfort.
I forced a smile but said nothing. I knew Heizi was trying to comfort me, but the inexplicable unease in my heart lingered.
Time passed slowly, yet Uncle Zhao still hadn't returned. My heart sank further with each passing moment.
Finally, amidst the anxious waiting, I heard familiar footsteps. I quickly lifted my head and looked toward the entrance of the training ground.
The figure of Uncle Zhao appeared there, followed by a tall middle-aged man who exuded an imposing presence even without anger. A hint of unmasked sadness and guilt was evident on his face.
“Lu Fan, come here,” Uncle Zhao waved at me.
I took a deep breath, stood up, and walked in front of Uncle Zhao.
“This is…” Uncle Zhao was about to introduce him but was interrupted by the middle-aged man.
“Child, I am your… uncle.” The middle-aged man's voice was deep, and tears shimmered in his eyes. “You have suffered over the years.”
I was instantly stunned, my mind blank, unable to comprehend everything happening before me.
“Child, your real name is Lu Tianxing, the only bloodline of the the Lu Family,” the middle-aged man continued. “Years ago, the the Lu Family was framed and tragically exterminated; only you managed to escape.”
“What?!” I exclaimed, unable to believe my ears.
“Back then, I was ordered to protect the family head but was betrayed by a villain, severely injured and fell into a coma. By the time I woke up, the the Lu Family had already…” The middle-aged man's voice choked as he struggled to speak.
“Who? Who harmed the the Lu Family?” I asked through gritted teeth, my eyes red with anger.
“It was…” The middle-aged man took a deep breath. “The Lin Family!”
