Chapter 110: Four Ghosts Carrying the Coffin - Feng Shui Situation
Not long after, Dog Egg finally woke up, but his expression was still somewhat dazed, looking as if he had just escaped a fright. When everyone asked him if he had seen something, he nodded and told us that early this morning, when it was just getting light, he went to the Mound to dig. However, as soon as he arrived at the Mound, he saw many people who looked extremely fierce—some without heads, some with their stomachs ripped open, some missing limbs, and others covered in blood.
At that moment, seeing these terrifying sights scared him half to death. He wanted to run away, but suddenly two headless men in black clothes ran over and grabbed him tightly, then dragged him out of the village. When they reached the Stone Pavilion, the sun came out, and those two men made him wait there without allowing him to go anywhere until we found him.
Hearing this, I realized that what Dog Egg saw were actually Evil Spirits. Fortunately, we found him in time; if we had waited until sunset, those two Evil Spirits would surely have come out again, and Dog Egg would have been in grave danger.
Because of Dog Egg's incident, the Villagers also became aware of our abilities. Led by an elderly man, they all requested our help, saying that this village was too peaceful.
We naturally did not refuse. After having lunch at Dog Egg's house, we followed the villagers in the afternoon to inspect the surroundings of the village.
Upon inspection, we were shocked. The overall Feng Shui of this village was extremely poor; the earth energy was very Yin and chaotic. Many trees were dead, and withered trees were everywhere. The village originally had two large ponds and a river, but they had been dry for a long time. When we asked the elderly man, he said that there had been no water in those ponds since he could remember.
To determine whether a village has good Feng Shui can often be seen from its trees and environment. Trees represent vitality; if a place is vibrant with life, the trees will naturally thrive. However, in this village, dead trees were everywhere while green trees were rarely seen. This indicated that the Feng Shui of this village was poor; with weak vitality and dead trees, how could people living in such a place expect to live long lives?
In many places in folklore, there is a belief that there should be no dead trees in front of or around houses; the appearance of dead trees is considered unlucky. This is not superstition; trees can live for decades or even hundreds of years without dying. However, some trees die within just ten or twenty years—this either indicates weak vitality or excessive Yin Qi or moisture. Regardless of the reason, it is unsuitable for human habitation. Therefore, Feng Shui is not merely superstition.
In front of us was a village where not only were the trees dead but also the ponds and rivers had dried up completely—this was even more detrimental. Water, especially rivers, represents flow and life; without flowing water in the village, there would naturally be no wealth or vitality. It is no wonder this village was so poor that there wasn't a single wealthy household.
Seeing this situation, we continued our inspection. We then discovered that this village exhibited a rare Feng Shui situation known as Four Ghosts Carrying the Coffin. Suddenly, both Cao Qilong and I were startled and exchanged glances.
We saw that to the east, south, west, and north of this village were four large Cemeteries filled with new and old Tomb Mounds overgrown with weeds surrounding the entire village. The village itself was located right in the center of these four large Cemeteries. Even more perplexing was that two roads had been built on either side of the village.
The Cemeteries to the east, south, west, and north resembled ghosts while the roads on both sides resembled two poles lifting a coffin; thus making the village rectangular in shape like a coffin itself. With ghosts present and poles lifting it up—wasn't this exactly the Four Ghosts Carrying the Coffin Feng Shui situation?
The Four Ghosts Carrying the Coffin Feng Shui situation is extremely rare; meeting all these conditions is not easy at all. Yet somehow this village encountered it—perhaps it truly is Heaven's Will?
The Four Ghosts Carrying the Coffin Feng Shui situation is an extremely ominous configuration where no one should reside because with Cemeteries surrounding all four directions of the village—the Yin Qi becomes overwhelming. No matter which direction one enters from into the village brings only deathly energy and Yin Qi; as a result, vitality within the village becomes extremely weak while deathly energy flourishes—this will lead to significant problems for livestock.
If you ask me what kind of problems might arise from this situation, I would tell you: livestock will frequently die and be hard to raise while people will suffer from illness and disaster—especially prone to being afflicted by Dirty Things. Moreover, one of the most severe characteristics of Four Ghosts Carrying the Coffin is that at midnight those residing in the village may find their souls unknowingly carried away by ghosts; once a soul is taken away—it means they have entered Yellow Springs Road—and naturally cannot survive. This explains why I dreamt last night of being trapped inside a coffin while being carried around by someone—it all connects back to this situation.
I immediately asked the old man why there were so many graves surrounding the village. Whose idea was it to place these graves around the village?
The old man replied that these graves had been here for over a hundred years, some belonging to this village and others to neighboring ones. For over a century, whenever someone died in the surrounding villages, they were buried in these places. Over time, the graves spread across the hills, forming large burial grounds.
Hearing this, I couldn't help but smile wryly. I then noticed something even more alarming: the village's transformer station, which was where Dog Egg had an incident, was located right in the center of the village. The transformer station undoubtedly intensified the magnetic field of the spirit world. Realizing this, I understood why so many people were digging up soil from that Mound. It wasn't just innocent accidental deaths or severe illnesses; it was because that Mound was a significant spot in this feng shui arrangement—a Yin spot, the place with the most Yin energy in this village!
If I wasn't mistaken, that place was a connection between the realms of Yin and Yang. The souls of all the villagers taken away by Four Ghosts Carrying the Coffin at midnight were brought into this Yin spot and directly entered the underworld. This Mound—it wasn't just about disturbing the earth; even passing by such a malevolent place was dangerous!
I glanced at Cao Qilong and saw that he clearly hadn't grasped what was happening. Noticing my shocked expression, he asked if I had seen something wrong. He mentioned that he only knew some Yin Dao Fa techniques and paper control methods, while he had only a superficial understanding of feng shui.
Upon hearing this, I suddenly realized that we each specialized in different areas. I understood Yin-Yang incantations and feng shui but didn't know about paper control; conversely, he understood paper control but not feng shui.
The villagers were also looking at me eagerly, clearly wanting to know what I had discovered.
I then told everyone, "The situation is dire. The feng shui of this village is one of the top ten deadly formations known as Four Ghosts Coffin Raising Formation. Humans and livestock absolutely cannot reside in such a malevolent place. You should all leave this village as soon as possible and find somewhere else to live!"
Upon hearing this, everyone's faces turned pale. Although they didn't know what Four Ghosts Coffin Raising Formation meant, it was evident from my words that this place was dangerous.
Cao Qilong seemed to have heard of the so-called Four Ghosts Coffin Raising Formation, and he exclaimed, "What? Four Ghosts Coffin Raising Formation? I thought we were staying in a palanquin house last night; I didn't expect it to be several times more dangerous than a palanquin house with Four Ghosts Carrying the Coffin. What should we do now?"
"There's no good solution other than leaving this village," I said helplessly.
When the villagers heard me say this, they began to murmur among themselves. The old man turned to silence them and then asked me, "Sir, is Four Ghosts Carrying the Coffin really that dangerous? Is there no way to break this curse?"
I replied, "Four Ghosts Coffin Raising Formation will take away people's souls; that's why so many people die in your village. Moreover, look at your village—graves are everywhere, causing an influx of Yin energy into the village. A place devoid of vitality cannot support human life! Let me put it this way: not only do people die in your village, but livestock often dies as well, right?"
The old man's face turned pale as he nodded vigorously and said, "Yes, every household struggles to keep livestock."
I continued, "Those living in this village are like your livestock—short-lived and plagued by disasters. If this continues, eventually everyone in the village will be doomed!"
The villagers immediately became anxious and fell silent.
At that moment, Cao Qilong curiously asked me, "Junior Brother, is it really that serious? This village has been inhabited for over a hundred years; although there have been many deaths, is it really too exaggerated to say that everyone here will be doomed?"
The villagers nodded repeatedly, clearly doubting whether I was exaggerating.
I forced a smile and asked the villagers, "Has the death rate in your village been higher in recent years compared to previous years?"
The villagers exchanged glances and then nodded in agreement. An elder said, "What you say is true. When I was young, people often died in our village, but it was only five or six a year. Now, it’s over a dozen each year."
I nodded and pointed to the Cemetery surrounding the village, saying, "That's because the Tomb Mound around the village has been increasing year by year, and the Yin Qi has also been accumulating. If this continues, it would be strange if the people in your village don't perish!"
At this point, everyone no longer doubted me and looked panicked. A villager helplessly said, "What should we do? Our fields are here; if we leave the village, wouldn’t that be a dead end for us?"
Everyone nodded in agreement, their faces filled with worry. The elder stepped forward and suddenly knelt before me. His sudden action startled me, and I hurried to help him up, but he refused to budge.
I said, "Why are you doing this, sir? I'm just a young man; how could I accept such reverence from you?"
The elder replied, "Sir, I know you have connections with the Deity. For the sake of this old man’s bones, please think of a way to save the Villagers. We cannot leave the village."
I quickly urged the elder to get up and suggested we discuss this properly. However, he insisted that he wouldn't rise unless I agreed to help the villagers. To be honest, I was at a loss for words; it wasn't that I didn't want to help, but this Feng Shui situation was too dire and dangerous for anyone to continue living there.
Seeing that I remained silent, other villagers also knelt down simultaneously, pleading for us to help them as they did not wish to leave their village.
Seeing their pitiful state honestly made me feel uneasy. At that moment, Cao Qilong surprisingly interceded on their behalf: "Shidi, I find them truly pitiful. Why don’t you think again and see if there are any other solutions besides leaving the village?"
