Chapter 95: Strange Happenings in the Village (5)
Qianjing Village is not far from Ancient Village. After walking for about twenty minutes, we arrived at Qianjing Village. The Zhang Family is a prominent family in the area, known for their wealth and influence, with members serving as officials and engaging in business, making a name for themselves. In the local community, everyone knows about Qianjing Village and the Zhang Family.
The Zhang Family's residence is easy to find because it is the largest and finest house in Qianjing Village. As soon as we entered the village, we saw a sprawling villa. The villagers told us that this was the Zhang Family's house.
At the main entrance of the villa, we rang the doorbell on the iron gate, and soon a middle-aged man in his forties came out. Upon seeing our large group, he was momentarily taken aback, then perhaps recognizing a few people, he asked us with curiosity, "You all... are from Ancient Village, right?"
The villagers nodded, and then this man asked if we had any business.
At this point, the villagers began to stammer; perhaps it was due to the significant difference in status or uncertainty about how to start the conversation. In any case, they didn't know how to begin.
Seeing this, I asked a nearby villager if this man was the head of the Zhang Family. The villager quietly informed me that this was indeed the head of the family, the eldest son who ran a big business. I nodded and stepped forward to say, "Mr. Zhang, hello. We came here today mainly to ask you if the Yin Zhai in front of Dragon Well Mountain Water Pool was established by your Zhang Family."
Mr. Zhang was slightly taken aback upon hearing this and quickly nodded, saying, "Yes, my father passed away two months ago, so I asked a master to choose a site for his burial there. Why do you ask about this? Is there something wrong with it?"
I smiled and replied, "There are indeed some issues. When you asked the master to choose the site and establish its orientation, he should have informed you that it is a Spirit Mound. He placed two consecrated Paper Lions in front of the grave to ensure that your Zhang Family's descendants would have abundant wealth."
"How do you know this? And you seem unfamiliar; you're not from our village. Could it be that you're also a master?" Mr. Zhang was somewhat surprised; he did not expect me to know these details.
I nodded and said, "Yes, I am a master, so I recognized the intention behind that Yin Zhai."
Upon hearing that I was also a master, Mr. Zhang's demeanor changed immediately; he hurriedly invited us into the courtyard and asked if we had any advice for him today.
Seeing him suddenly become polite clearly indicated that he did not want to offend someone like me. I didn't beat around the bush and directly told him: "Mr. Zhang, your father's Yin Zhai is indeed excellent, especially with those consecrated Paper Lions paired with the original Spirit Mound; it's perfect. However... there are some issues that you may not have considered at that time!"
Mr. Zhang was initially very pleased when I praised their Yin Zhai but became worried upon hearing my last statement and urgently asked me what aspects were problematic.
I said, "Two small Stone Lions were placed in front of the grave, and the Stone Lions were consecrated and had their eyes opened, thus they became living lions. These lions would go out every morning and evening to beg for food, consuming grains to nourish the spirit of the Spirit Mound, ensuring that the Zhang Family's descendants would prosper. However, as a result, both lions ran over to the nearby Farmland and caused significant destruction. Now, the crops in the Ancient Village have suffered greatly, with large areas yielding nothing; all the Grain and Soybean in the Farmland have been eaten clean."
Mr. Zhang was immediately terrified upon hearing this, clearly not expecting such a situation to arise. I continued, "Yesterday, the Villagers of Ancient Village came to me, initially thinking it was the work of an Evil Spirit. However, after investigating last night, I discovered that it was actually caused by that pair of Paper Lions in front of your Yin Zhai. This harmful object was something I intended to destroy, but casually destroying a Vigil spirit beast would surely bring disaster to your Zhang Family. Therefore, I came to explain this matter to you in hopes of finding a proper solution to resolve the conflict between you and the villagers."
After listening, Mr. Zhang repeatedly cupped his fists in apology to the Villagers and then thanked me for showing mercy towards his Zhang Family. He then asked if there was any good way to both preserve the Feng Shui of Yin Zhai and prevent the Paper Lions from harming the villagers.
I thought for a moment and replied, "Currently, there is no good solution; we can only reseal the spiritual eyes of that pair of Paper Lions and replace them with unactivated Stone Lions. This way, the Feng Shui will still be excellent, though it will lack some spiritual essence; nonetheless, it will still ensure that your Zhang Family remains prosperous."
Mr. Zhang considered this and decided to follow my advice by replacing the Paper Lions with lifeless Stone Lions.
That day, Mr. Zhang called someone to bring a pair of Stone Lions and then went with us to his Zhang Family's Yin Zhai to prepare for the replacement of the Paper Lions.
On our way up the mountain, I was curious about the gentleman who had helped the Zhang Family locate their burial site and asked Mr. Zhang for his name.
Mr. Zhang told me that the gentleman's surname was Liu and his name was Liu Lao Er.
Upon hearing this, I was shocked; Liu Lao Er? It turned out that the person who had helped locate burial sites was indeed Liu Lao Er!
I couldn't help but be astonished; no matter how much I thought about it, I would never have imagined that he would be Liu Lao Er! Perhaps this truly exemplified that saying about enemies crossing paths!
Seeing my surprised expression, Mr. Zhang asked if I knew Liu Lao Er. I nodded and told him that I did know him but that Liu Lao Er was a murderer who was currently being sought by the police everywhere.
Mr. Zhang was taken aback, clearly not expecting Liu Lao Er to be a Bad Person. However, since it was Liu Lao Er, my curiosity grew even more, so I asked Mr. Zhang how he had come across Liu Lao Er. After all, in my view, with police searching for him everywhere, he couldn't possibly be walking around freely.
Mr. Zhang explained everything to me: two months ago, his father passed away due to illness, and while looking for someone to choose a burial site for him, suddenly someone came knocking at their door claiming to be a master of locating burial sites. Moreover, he boldly stated that if he found a bad site, he wouldn't charge any fees.
At that time, the Zhang Family was worried about not finding a suitable master and curiously asked him how much it would cost to find a good site.
The man replied, "There is currently a live site available; if buried there, it guarantees wealth and prosperity for generations without end. The fee for this site is 888,000."
Zhang Family was taken aback, wondering what kind of burial site was worth so much money, nearly a million.
The other party said, "This site charges nothing at the time of burial. If within three days after the burial, the descendants achieve promotion and wealth, only then will I collect this fee. If it does not come to pass, I will not take a single coin."
Upon hearing this, Zhang Family was astonished. A burial could lead to descendants achieving promotion and wealth within three days? If that were true, they would pay not just eight hundred thousand but even a million, as Zhang Family was not short on money.
Thus, Zhang Family finally agreed to this person and asked him to choose a location. This self-proclaimed master of geomancy was Liu Lao Er.
On the day of the burial, Liu Lao Er brought Zhang Family to the already chosen Feng Shui site, standing at the correct position to perform his rituals, using hand gestures to lock in the earth's spiritual energy. Only then did he break ground and bury Zhang Family's old Father. Finally, he placed a pair of consecrated Paper Lions in front of the grave and recited an incantation to complete the process.
Strangely enough, the day after Zhang Family's Father was buried, the second son who remained at home received a call from a county unit informing him of his promotion. Shortly after, news came from the eldest son Mr. Zhang's company that they had successfully secured a project worth over a hundred million.
These two pieces of good news left Zhang Family stunned; it truly seemed to fulfill Liu Lao Er's words that within three days after burial, Zhang Family's descendants would achieve promotion and wealth. Remarkably, before three days had even passed, it had all come true!
Thus, three days later, Liu Lao Er arrived at Old Zhang's Family, asking if their Yin Zhai had proven effective. Since Mr. Zhang and his family were wealthy and did not care about the eighty thousand, they readily acknowledged that it indeed came true and happily handed over the agreed payment to Liu Lao Er.
For these past two months, Zhang Family had been sailing smoothly without any troubles. Until today, when we came knocking...
After listening to Mr. Zhang recounting the events, I must admit I was impressed by Liu Lao Er's abilities; few could match his skills. However, an enemy remains an enemy; I cannot admire him just because of his talents. After all, no matter how skilled one is, virtue is essential. A person without virtue will ultimately misuse their abilities and harm others!
As I pondered these thoughts, we arrived in front of Zhang Family's Yin Zhai.
