Chapter Eighty-One: Kill Liu Lao Er
The Peach Wood Stake was quickly removed by us, and as the Three Evil Formation was broken, the Yin Qi immediately dissipated. Although the Three Evil Formation was destroyed, we had no time to catch our breath as the situation suddenly changed again; we saw over a dozen White Shadows floating towards us...
Upon closer inspection, those White Shadows were not ghosts, but individual Paper Figurines!
At the same time I discovered the Paper Figurines, Wang Team also noticed them. They quickly drew their sidearms, disengaged the safeties, and began firing at the Paper Figurines that were floating a hundred meters away.
However, these were Paper Figurines, not living beings. Despite the deafening gunfire and bullets piercing through the thin bodies of the Paper Figurines, they did not fall. They showed no signs of stopping, making eerie "woo woo" sounds as they charged towards us...
Guns were ineffective against the Paper Figurines, and everyone panicked, unsure of what to do. I shouted for them to run while I handled it. But Wang Team refused to flee and shouted back, "If we're going to die, let's die together! I can't stand these ghostly things anymore!"
Seeing they were unwilling to leave, I could only smile wryly and then told them to use fire; Paper Figurines are afraid of fire.
Upon hearing my suggestion for dealing with the Paper Figurines, Wang Team chuckled and pulled some Hay from the ground. They then took out a Lighter, ignited the hay, and charged towards the approaching Paper Figurines!
As for me, since I only had a Seven-Inch Soul Locking Needle, it was clearly insufficient. I had to pull out my Copper Coin Sword.
However, I knew that wielding the Copper Coin Sword against the Paper Figurines would be ineffective because they did not fear the slight Yang energy from it. Therefore, I needed to enhance its power.
I had previously mentioned that Tongue Blood, also known as True Yang Saliva, is heavier in Yang energy than both Chicken Blood and Black Dog Blood. So, I bit my tongue again and sprayed blood onto the sword's body. Then, with my left hand forming a seal, I quickly recited the Ritual Sword Incantation: "I beseech the Flying Sword Deity, descend upon this world; let all who harm you fear me not. With this small ritual, I summon forth the flying sword to slay all evil without leaving a trace. By the command of the flying sword ancestor, let this divine weapon act swiftly!"
The Copper Coin Sword is not a true sword but rather shaped like one made from Copper Coins. Thus, besides possessing Yang energy, it also carries a strong Killing Intent. As it is said, "Peach Wood Sword slays demons; Copper Coin Sword kills ghosts!" As long as a Copper Coin Sword is hung in a home, it can drive away evil spirits. Of course, if evil spirits have already entered a home, a mere Copper Coin Sword won't be very effective. However, if there are just minor signs of Yin spirits invading a residence, then the Copper Coin Sword can still be useful if placed in the northeast direction of the ghost gate.
Nevertheless, since its shape is long and pointed, it has significant lethality; wherever its blade points carries a strong Killing Intent. Therefore, if hung carelessly in a home, it can negatively affect those or things in its path. Thus, unless there are Yin spirits invading a residence, one should avoid hanging a Feng Shui Copper Coin Sword. Hanging such a sword incorrectly is bad Feng Shui—especially if it's placed in an ominous direction or where malevolent stars are present; this increases its Killing Intent.
Returning to my main point! The reason I recited the Ritual Sword Incantation was to activate the light within the Copper Coin Sword, granting it divine power so that it could deal with these approaching Paper Figurines.
Once I finished reciting the incantation, a golden light flashed from my hand holding the Copper Coin Sword. At that moment, those Paper Figurines had already encountered Wang Team! Immediately, I ran up with my sword drawn.
I saw that as soon as those Paper Figurines met with the police officers, chaos erupted. Some officers tried to stab at the Paper Figurines with their burning hay sticks; however, the nimble Paper Figurines dodged effortlessly and retaliated by kicking one officer away...
Of course, some of the detectives set the fire on the Paper Figurine, and soon the Paper Figurine burst into flames with a whoosh, emitting strange cries that sounded like it was truly alive.
Before long, I rushed into their midst and saw one of the Paper Figurine lunging at Team Leader Wang, grabbing his neck with an astonishing strength, lifting him off the ground as he struggled in panic, his feet kicking wildly.
I was shocked and quickly stepped aside, raising my Copper Coin Sword to slash down at the arm of the Paper Figurine that was choking Team Leader Wang!
With a swing of my sword, the arm was severed. The Paper Figurine let out a hissing cry of pain. Without any hesitation, I stepped forward and thrust the Copper Coin Sword straight into its chest. The Paper Figurine was pierced through, and black smoke began to rise from its chest before it ignited with a loud bang!
Seeing that the Copper Coin Sword, which had been infused with true Yang essence and blessed, indeed had lethal power against the Paper Figurine, I felt a surge of excitement and charged towards another Paper Figurine. Meanwhile, Team Leader Wang quickly picked up a handful of unburned hay from the ground and hurled it at the Paper Figurine.
However, despite the formidable power of my Copper Coin Sword, the Paper Figurine was incredibly agile and elusive. Every time I swung my sword, I would miss, leaving me feeling powerless.
Looking around at the detectives, I saw that out of more than ten officers, four or five had already fallen; I couldn't tell if they were dead or alive. My heart sank with worry as I noticed that although we had taken down many Paper Figurine, their numbers did not seem to diminish. I glanced ahead and saw more Paper Figurine emerging from a pile of hay taller than a person.
Seeing this, I shouted to Team Leader Wang and the others: "Liu Er is hiding behind those bushes over there! If we don't take him out, he'll keep sending Paper Figurine at us; we won't be able to fight them off!"
The principle of capturing the leader first is something everyone understands. Upon hearing my shout, Team Leader Wang and the others realized it too. Indeed, no one knew how many Paper Figurine Liu Er had at his disposal. Even if we managed to eliminate them all, he could still use other dark arts. We couldn't win in a head-on confrontation like this. Now that we had pinpointed his location, while dealing with the magical Paper Figurine was difficult for us detectives, Liu Er was still a living person; no matter how powerful his magic was, his body couldn't withstand our bullets.
Thus, Team Leader Wang and the others broke away from fighting the Paper Figurine, pulled out their guns, and fired fiercely at the pile of bushes I pointed to! With over ten guns firing simultaneously, they quickly emptied all their magazines.
This tactic proved effective; as soon as the gunfire ceased, we saw a shadow darting out from the bushes in a very disheveled manner, clutching its stomach and limping forward.
Seeing this shadow, we immediately recognized it as Liu Er. His appearance clearly indicated he had been shot and seemed to be injured not only in his stomach but also in one leg!
I shouted to Team Leader Wang and the others: "Quick! Go take him down! I'll handle these Paper Figurine!"
At this moment, Team Leader Wang and his team could no longer care about the Paper Figurine clinging to them. They threw another handful of hay at one of the Paper Figurine, forcing it back before charging towards Liu Er who was injured a hundred meters away!
The remaining Paper Figurine, seeing that the detectives were trying to escape, moved to block their path. But I wouldn't let those Paper Figurine succeed; I raised my Copper Coin Sword and charged towards them…
Paper Figurine, I can handle. As for the injured Liu Lao Er, the guns of the police can deal with him. In an instant, the situation finally turned in our favor!
Because I held the Copper Coin Sword in my hand, Paper Figurine found it difficult to hurt me. Soon, I had killed almost all the remaining Paper Figurine that the police had dealt with. In the midst of the fierce fighting, I glanced over at Wang Team and was startled, nearly crying out loud. I saw that Wang Team members were flying into the air like kites with their strings cut, crashing down heavily several meters away with muffled groans!
This scene completely caught me off guard. I quickly focused my eyes and discovered that it was actually two people in white who had knocked the police away, and the previously injured Liu Lao Er had long since disappeared!
At that moment, a police officer fired at the two people in white, but it was completely ineffective. As soon as they encountered those two, the police were no match for them and were directly sent flying several meters away...
I immediately shouted that it was bad; Wang Team was in big trouble! So I abandoned the few remaining Paper Figurine in front of me and hurried over to the police.
Soon, I rushed to their side, where only two or three police officers remained. I first yelled at them to run away quickly, then I clearly saw those two people in white. At a glance, I recognized them; they were none other than Duan Yang's parents!
“Paper King!” Upon recognizing them, I felt a wave of despair because they were no longer the half-dead half-spirits from before; they had completely transformed into real Paper King, looking flesh and blood.
They had actually become true Paper King, and they had been subdued by Liu Lao Er. I was deeply shocked. At this moment, Paper King also saw me, their eyes instantly filled with hatred and anger; clearly, they still remembered their grudge against Duan Yang!
I internally screamed “It's over.” Yes, this time it really was over. Previously, when I hunted down Paper Figurine, I had encountered these two Paper King. Back then, they were still half-dead half-spirits, and I couldn't take on both of them alone. Now that they had become true Paper King, I was even less their match.
Thinking about this made me bitterly smile. It seemed that Master Ma really hadn't miscalculated; indeed, I was facing a disaster recently. Today, it seemed that I would have to pay with my life here!
The two Paper King recognized me and no longer cared about the remaining police officers; they charged straight at me. Although I knew deep down that this time it was truly over, I still raised my Copper Coin Sword and charged towards them against their fury...
