Chapter Fourteen Yin Soldiers Yin General 0

I sighed helplessly at Kiln Deity, but Kiln Deity shot me an indifferent glare and said, "Aren't you something, Little Yin-Yang? You dare to provoke the Chapter of the Mass Grave. Now do you know your own weight?" 0

After scolding me for a bit, Kiln Deity continued, "Don't you have a Ghost Seal? As long as you hold the Ghost Seal and call them, they will come." 0

Ghost Seal? Hearing this left me momentarily confused. What Ghost Seal? I don't have that thing! 0

"What are you spacing out for, Little Yin-Yang? Hurry up and take out the Ghost Seal to call for help. Do you really want to die here?" Kiln Deity waved his arms to fend off the ghosts attacking him while shouting at me. 0

Upon hearing this, I panicked. Ghost Seal Ghost Seal, why does he keep insisting that I have a Ghost Seal... Suddenly, it seemed like I remembered something. Could it be that the Ghost Seal that Kiln Deity mentioned is that object? 0

Yes, I recalled the jade pendant I had found while cleaning the Shop. It had the words “Ghost Seal” engraved on it. 0

Thinking of this, I hurriedly pulled the jade pendant out of my pocket and raised it to ask the busy Kiln Deity, "Deity, is this what you mean by Ghost Seal?" 0

Kiln Deity glanced at me and gritted his teeth, exclaiming, "Do you have another Ghost Seal or something?" 0

Although Kiln Deity looked like he wanted to give me a good beating, I understood his meaning. The jade pendant in my hand was indeed what he referred to as the Ghost Seal. 0

What puzzled me was that this jade pendant seemed quite ordinary; it merely had the words “Ghost Seal” on one side. Could it really be so powerful that using it could summon the Yin Soldiers Yin General and other Yin Commander like Ox-Head and Horse-Face from the Department of Military Affairs in the Underworld? 0

I knew this jade pendant was left behind by My Grandfather. Before this, Grandpa had never mentioned how special it was or how powerful it could be. In my memory, Grandpa only said that this pendant was a token; his Shidi had another piece, and together they formed a pair. So, I was supposed to take good care of it and use it to seek help from his Shidi if I encountered any major trouble in the future. 0

For this reason, I kept this jade pendant on me, taking good care of it. Otherwise, I might have thrown this worthless jade away during the fire at Shop that day. 0

However, now Kiln Deity even claims that this jade can summon Yin Commander. Although I still have some doubts in my heart, after all, he is a deity, and he says this pendant is the Ghost Seal. Using it can indeed summon Yin Commander, so there must be some truth to it. 0

Understanding this, I held the jade pendant in my hand and began to chant the invocation: “Clear Skies, Earth Spirit, Earth Spirit, first incantation opens the heavens, second incantation splits the earth, third incantation Five Direction Deities and Ghost Generals emerge from the ghost gate, first summon Department of Military Affairs in the Underworld’s soldiers, second summon Seventh Lord and Eighth Lord, third summon Ox-Head and Horse Face, fourth summon Night and Day Dual Travel Deities, … to the Disciples' Altar to display their might, Urgent Order!” 0

Once the invocation was completed and the command was issued, my heart raced. Whether I could summon them depended on what happened next. 0

Just as I was thinking this, a sudden gust of Yin Wind swept through, and the entire world changed in an instant. Just moments ago it was a bright moonlit night; now dark clouds obscured the moon, fierce winds rose up, and sand and stones flew everywhere. The Yin Wind howled ominously… 0

Seeing this scene filled me with both shock and fear. I was shocked because it seemed like I had really summoned the Yin Soldiers and Yin General from the Department of Military Affairs in the Underworld. Only they would cause such dark clouds to cover the moon and unleash overwhelming Yin Qi. My fear stemmed from wondering if they truly had come; would I still be alive? After all, they were a group of death gods, and wherever they went, living beings faced certain doom. 0

In my panic, a rumbling sound suddenly echoed from afar. Listening closely, I realized that the rumbling was actually the sound of hooves. 0

The sound of hooves pounding on the ground was so powerful that it felt as if thousands of horses were charging toward me from a distance. This overwhelming sensation left me breathless. As the stampede approached, I felt incredibly small in front of such a force; all I could feel was anxiety… 0

Soon enough, in an instant, I saw waves of Black Tide emerging from the direction of the stampede. This massive wave surged toward me like an unstoppable tide. 0

The black torrent moved swiftly. Gradually, I could see more clearly: countless figures emerged from within the Black Mist, each clad in black armor, wielding Axe and Knife, riding on equally armored High-spirited Steed, brandishing their weapons amidst the deafening sound of hooves as they charged forward like Evil Spirits… 0

I was certain that this was the only time in my life I felt genuine terror from deep within. These soldiers resembled ancient armies from movies; their momentum during the age of cold weapons was so overwhelming that anyone facing them would surely be left gasping for breath. 0

They drew closer; the Black Tide surged right up to me. At the forefront was a general-like figure riding a High-spirited Steed, raising a massive axe. With one swing, the black torrent behind him dispersed like floodwaters breaking through a dam, rushing towards the Evil Spirits from all directions… 0

Wherever this black torrent passed, Axe and Knife slashed mercilessly. The cries of terrified Evil Spirits filled the air as they scattered in panic. 0

The Ghost General standing amidst the torrents suddenly turned his head and glanced at me. Just that one look sent a chill down my spine, making my hair stand on end, for his gaze was as cold and terrifying as the spirits in Hell. 0

Fortunately, he only glanced at me before turning his head back and rushing towards the ranks of the Yin Soldiers. 0

After the Ghost General left, the Yin Wind rose again, but it was not as forceful as when the Yin Soldiers arrived. As the Yin Wind swirled, a group of people appeared in front of me. 0

To my surprise, among them were Black and White Impermanence, Ox-Head and Horse-Face, and the Night Wanderer. 0

As mentioned earlier, Black and White Impermanence is part of the Underworld's Bureau of Souls, responsible for collecting souls for Yama. 0

It is said that within Black and White Impermanence, White Impermanence is named Xie Bian, while Black Wuchang is called Fan Wujiao. They are also referred to as the Seventh Lord and Eighth Lord. This is why when I called upon deities, I directly summoned the Seventh Lord and Eighth Lord. 0

There is a folk legend about these two. It is said that Xie Bian and Fan Wujiao became sworn brothers from a young age. One day, they walked together under the South Bridge. When it started to rain, the Seventh Lord asked the Eighth Lord to wait while he went home to fetch an umbrella. Unfortunately, after the Seventh Lord left, a torrential downpour caused the river to swell. The Eighth Lord, unwilling to break his promise, drowned due to his short stature. When the Seventh Lord returned with the umbrella, he found that the Eighth Lord had gone missing. Grief-stricken, he hanged himself from a bridge pillar. This is why many depictions of White Impermanence show him with a long red tongue. Yama praised their deep loyalty and ordered them to capture wrongdoers in front of the City God. Some say that for Xie Bian, those who repay their deities will find peace; for Fan Wujiao, those who break the law will find no salvation. Of course, these are just folk tales. 0

Returning to the main point, another figure known as the Night Wanderer oversees human morality as a Yin Commander. According to folklore, there are two major wandering deities in the Underworld: the Day Wanderer and the Night Wanderer. Both serve as Yin Commanders, patrolling the Yin Realm to monitor human deeds. Every good or evil act you commit will be recorded in their ledger of good and evil, waiting for you to repay when your lifespan ends. As they say, "Above your head three feet there are deities; every good deed and every evil deed is recorded by Yama." Therefore, during your decades on earth, it is better to do more good than harm. 0

When they appeared, instead of immediately attacking the Evil Spirit, they stood before me, each observing me with great interest, making me feel increasingly uneasy. I thought to myself: have I caused great trouble today? Are they planning to take me to the Underworld for punishment? 0

Just as I was feeling anxious, Ox-Head spoke up: "You little troublemaker! That day at Wang Mazi's house you acted as a substitute and caused me and Horse Face to return empty-handed. I haven't settled that score with you yet! Today you've stirred up this hornet's nest again. I really suspect you've eaten bear hearts and leopard gallbladders—always causing us trouble!" 0

Hearing such harsh words from Ox-Head, I dared not respond. I thought that I had offended these figures from the Underworld. If they didn't take me today, when my lifespan ends and I descend into the Underworld, they would surely make me suffer greatly. 0
