But two days later, Zhou Qi called her again.
His voice sounded as if he had been drinking.
Xu Jing initially didn't want to go, but in the end, she still went.
She saw Zhou Qi standing by the roadside and quickly parked her car in front of him.
"Get in."
Zhou Qi obediently got into the car.
As Xu Jing drove, she said, "I'll take you home."
Zhou Qi was silent for a moment and replied, "I don't want to go home."
Xu Jing asked, "Then where do you want to go?"
Zhou Qi said, "Anywhere."

But she still took him back to her apartment.

She bit her lip and sat on the edge of the bed.
Zhou Qi leaned against her, slowly closing his eyes.
"Xu Jing, I'm feeling really bad."
"My dad has more than one illegitimate child; he has other kids too."
"But my mom and I are the ones he needs the least."
"My mom is gone, and he doesn't want to take care of me either."
Xu Jing recalled that rainy day when she saw Zhou Qi kneeling in front of Li Xue's tombstone, unwilling to get up for a long time.
Her heart began to ache again.
"But I've hated him for so many years."

Xu Jing didn't know what to say, so she could only listen silently.
When Zhou Qi woke up, Xu Jing had already left. He remembered getting drunk the night before, holding her hand and begging her not to go. In the end, she returned to her empty house. Neither of them had forgotten the other. The person who was indispensable in their lives was Zhou Qiang. Home was no longer just a house, but the people inside it.
Xu Jing spent nearly two weeks preparing the first version of her design plan. She took the plan to find Zhou Qi. Perhaps he noticed her efforts, as he didn't suggest any modifications. Wei Jianhua watched from the side, a meaningful smile playing at the corners of his mouth. Zhou Qi glanced at him and asked, "What are you laughing at?"
"Nothing," Wei Jianhua shook his head. "I just think you and Xu Jing make a good match."
Zhou Qi remained silent.
Wei Jianhua continued, "Seriously, when are you two getting together?"
Zhou Qi still didn't respond.
Wei Jianhua pressed on, "You haven't even pursued her yet, have you?"
Zhou Qi remained silent again.
Wei Jianhua teased, "No way, are you really that timid?"
Zhou Qi snapped back, "Get lost!"
