Yan Jien was waiting for Yan Weila in the red pine forest, his phone had long since run out of battery and shut off.
He was hiding there without any clothes on, and every time someone passed by, his heart raced with fear of being discovered. Fortunately, it was morning, and there were very few people out for exercise; those he did encounter were mostly there to pick mushrooms like him. However, his bare appearance still drew attention.
"Is that guy a fool?" someone muttered upon seeing Yan Jien.
"Maybe, what normal person walks around without clothes?" his companion agreed.
"He’s quite handsome, but what a shame he’s a fool," an aunt passing by sighed.
Yan Jien had no words to respond.
Luckily, it wasn't long before Yan Weila arrived at the red pine forest, which relieved Yan Jien.
"Where have you been? Why did you come so late?" Yan Jien asked.
"I had to ask for leave for Dou Dou; it took a bit of time," Yan Weila explained.
"How is Dou Dou doing now?" Yan Jien inquired with concern.
"Just woke up; he was scared last night, and I couldn't calm him down no matter how hard I tried," Yan Weila sighed.
"Sigh," Yan Jien echoed her sentiment.
"Let’s go back first and talk," Yan Weila suggested.
"Okay," Yan Jien nodded.
The two left the red pine forest and returned to Yan Weila's home.
"Daddy, I'm so scared!" Dou Dou exclaimed as he saw Yan Jien and rushed into his arms, tears streaming down his face again.
"Dou Dou, it's okay; Daddy didn't mean to," Yan Jien quickly comforted him.
"Daddy, are you going to eat me?" Dou Dou looked up at Yan Jien with fear written all over his face.
"No way! Daddy would never eat Dou Dou!" Yan Jien shook his head.
"Really?" Dou Dou asked for confirmation.
"Really," Yan Jien affirmed with a nod.
"Daddy, please don’t eat mice anymore, okay?" Dou Dou pleaded.
"Alright," Yan Jien agreed.
"Daddy, will that uncle from last night come back?" Dou Dou asked anxiously.
"No, Daddy scared him away; he won't come back," Yan Jien reassured him.
"That's good," Dou Dou sighed in relief.
"Dou Dou, you go sleep first; I need to talk to Daddy for a bit," Yan Weila said.
"I'm not sleepy," Dou Dou shook his head defiantly.
"Go on; you didn't sleep at all last night and woke up so early this morning; you must be tired," Yan Weila urged gently.
"Okay then," Dou Dou thought for a moment before nodding in agreement.
"I'll go put her to sleep," Yan Weila said.
"Thank you for your hard work," Yan Jien nodded.
Yan Weila went to soothe Dou Dou to sleep, while Yan Jien opened his computer and began editing a video.
"Origin Biotechnology Company?" Yan Jien suddenly recalled Professor Fang's words.
He searched online and discovered that Origin Biotechnology Company is a multinational corporation with operations worldwide.
"What are they really up to?" Yan Jien frowned.
He had a premonition that Origin Biotechnology Company definitely had ulterior motives and might pose a significant threat to him.
"I must improve my strength as soon as possible!" Yan Jien resolved.
He opened his computer and started organizing today's findings, recording his height, weight, transformation abilities, and other data.
"It seems I've made a big step forward in my evolution," Yan Jien said with satisfaction.
Although last night's battle was perilous, the gains were substantial; he not only resolved the hidden dangers left by the Rat King but also clarified the direction of his evolution.
"Mental Shock, truly a divine skill!" Yan Jien marveled.
If it weren't for Mental Shock, he wouldn't have been able to defeat Professor Fang, let alone turn the tables.
"By the way, Bread and Milk Tea," Yan Jien suddenly remembered.
He opened the cabinet, took out Bread and Milk Tea, and prepared to feed them.
"Starting today, I will teach you meditation," Yan Jien said.
He opened his computer and taught Bread and Milk Tea how to meditate, instructing them to practice accordingly.
"Woof!"
"Ugh..."
Bread and Milk Tea looked confused and couldn't understand what Yan Jien was saying at all.
"It seems I need to take it slow," Yan Jien said helplessly upon seeing this.
He let Bread and Milk Tea practice on their own while he continued editing the video and posting it on various platforms.
...
A day quickly passed, and Yan Weila hadn't contacted Yan Jien at all, leaving him feeling somewhat dejected.
"It seems she's still scared," Yan Jien sighed.
He understood that anyone who saw him transform into a werewolf would be terrified; it was brave of Yan Weila not to run away on the spot.
"From now on, I'll have to rely on myself," Yan Jien murmured to himself.
Though he felt a bit down, he could understand; after all, not everyone could accept such things easily.
"Ugh..."
"Woof woof!"
Bread and Milk Tea were still practicing meditation, but the results were not evident.
"It seems these pups really aren't suited for meditation," Yan Jien said helplessly.
He originally wanted to teach Dou Dou how to meditate, but now it seemed completely impossible.
"However, practicing meditation a bit more wouldn't hurt," Yan Jien thought.
Although bread and milk tea couldn't enter a meditative state, training in meditation would still benefit them.
At the very least, it could make them a bit smarter and give them better control.
"From now on, I'll have to rely on myself," Yan Jien muttered.
He opened his computer and continued editing the video.
...
At four in the morning, Yan Jien woke up from his meditative state.
He picked up his phone to check, but there were no messages, which made him feel a bit down.
"Sigh," Yan Jien sighed.
Although he could understand Yan Weila's choice, it still hurt him inside.
After all, Yan Weila was his only friend and his only family; if even she distanced herself from him, he would truly be left all alone.
"Forget it, time to sleep," Yan Jien said as he turned off his phone.
...
At seven in the morning, Yan Jien woke up from his sleep.
He picked up his phone again and saw that there were still no messages, which made him feel even more disappointed.
"It seems she really is scared," Yan Jien said helplessly.
"Dad, it's time to get up!" Dou Dou's voice came through.
"Dou Dou, you're awake?" Yan Jien exclaimed in surprise.
He looked up and saw Yan Weila standing at the door, smiling at him.
"You... what are you doing here?" Yan Jien asked in astonishment.
"I came to help you with the laundry," Yan Weila replied.
"You... you're not afraid of me anymore?" Yan Jien asked nervously.
