"I'll go! I'll go tomorrow!" Jiang Chen's response surprised everyone and made his presence felt! Just a moment ago, everyone's attention was on Zhao Xiaolong, but now they all turned to look at Jiang Chen.
"Jiang Chen, what are you going to do at their pharmacy?" Lin Jingzhu asked, feeling something was off after her initial surprise. Jiang Chen couldn't possibly be going to work at the pharmacy.
"Just to be a helper!" Zhao Xiaolong interjected proudly.
Upon hearing this, Lin Jingzhu felt a sense of unease; the smug expression she had just moments ago vanished. She knew that Zhao Xiaolong was getting a bit too carried away.
"Hehe, let's talk about it after I go tomorrow!" Jiang Chen seemed unwilling to embarrass Zhao Xiaolong. Let him enjoy his moment for now! Since his father was a highly respected physician, Jiang Chen decided not to make things awkward for Zhao Xiaolong.
Lin Jingzhu sighed in relief and decided to further introduce Jiang Chen to Zhao Xiaolong to prevent him from saying something inappropriate again.
"Xiaolong, Jiang Chen is now the chairman of the company; he won't be working as a helper at your pharmacy!"
"Chairman of the company? What company?" Zhao Xiaolong began to feel embarrassed. Damn, I asked him to be a helper when he's a company chairman. But it seems like he agreed?
"Dongsheng Group!" Jiang Chen said slowly, his tone very calm.
Dongsheng Group? Everyone was taken aback upon hearing this. Although this group was new, it was quite large and well-known. Even students who were usually oblivious to outside affairs had heard of it. After all, everyone needed clothes.
Zhao Xiaolong knew about this company but didn't expect the chairman of Dongsheng Group to be so young! Is this for real? He looked at Lin Jingzhu with suspicion.
"Jiang Chen, wasn't your company called Dongsheng Company? Why is it called Dongsheng Group now?" Lin Jingzhu seemed unaware that Jiang Chen had established Dongsheng Group.
"It used to be Dongsheng Company; now it has developed into Dongsheng Group. After acquiring Wan's Group and Nangang Company, I established Dongsheng Group!" Jiang Chen explained briefly.
Damn, he really is the chairman of a group company; that's way more impressive than being just a young master of a small pharmacy! The sense of superiority Zhao Xiaolong had just moments ago vanished instantly.
The other girls also stopped feeling envy towards Lin Jingzhu and instead looked at her with pity.
"Now we should call you Director Jiang; come on, let me toast you!" A girl sitting next to Jiang Chen raised her glass in salute.
Jiang Chen accepted without hesitation.
The other girls followed suit and toasted Jiang Chen as well. Zhao Xiaolong suddenly felt a bit neglected.
After the girls finished their toasts, Teacher Zhu also came over to toast. He didn't expect that the former "dishwasher" would become so impressive! He needed to curry favor with him.
Of course, Jiang Chen's attitude was indifferent; he clinked glasses but wasn't enthusiastic. The reason wasn't that Jiang Chen was arrogant but because Teacher Zhu was one of those who assisted Zhang Lin in setting up Teacher Gong last time.
After the banquet ended, Zhao Xiaolong pretended to be generous and called the waiter over to settle the bill.
"No need; I've already taken care of it!" Jiang Chen said loudly.
"Ah, Director Jiang has already settled the bill?" Zhao Xiaolong exclaimed, a mix of surprise and joy crossing his face, tinged with a hint of embarrassment. After all, it was his girlfriend treating everyone, and it felt awkward for the other boys to pay.
However, the cost for the table was substantial, so saving money was a good thing. With the bill taken care of, the eight of them left the private room and made their way to the hotel entrance.
"Director Jiang, what car do you drive? I have a Mercedes-Benz. Since they don't have cars, let's fit four people in each vehicle!" Zhao Xiaolong clearly had driven himself.
"I don’t have a car, I’m sorry!" Jiang Chen replied apologetically to everyone.
"What? You don’t have a car?" Disappointment swept through the group; how could a chairman of a corporation not own a vehicle? This meant that at least two of the girls wouldn’t be able to ride. Teacher Zhu should definitely get priority for a seat!
Jiang Chen smiled, "I’ve ordered my car, but it hasn’t arrived yet. Let’s just take a taxi this time! Which two female classmates would like to stay behind and share a cab with me?"
To his surprise, all four girls opted not to ride in Zhao Xiaolong's car and insisted on taking a taxi with Jiang Chen. However, since taxis couldn’t accommodate that many people, one relatively quiet girl ended up taking Zhao Xiaolong's car.
The next morning, Jiang Chen indeed arrived at Jishi Pharmacy. He noticed a long line in front of the adjacent clinic. It seemed that Zhao Xianyi had quite the reputation; the number of patients seeking his help spoke volumes.
Upon entering the pharmacy, Jiang Chen did not see Zhao Xiaolong. That was understandable; after all, he hadn’t mentioned coming to greet him last night.
A few staff members were present, and Jiang Chen handed one of them a list. The staff member took one look at it and gasped; the list was filled with expensive medicinal herbs, particularly requesting a century-old Ganoderma and a root of Millennium Ginseng!
Seeing Jiang Chen’s youth made the staff member wonder why he needed such rare herbs. He asked, "Young man, these herbs will cost you millions. We don’t have the century-old Ganoderma or Millennium Ginseng in stock; I need to check with our boss."
"Don’t worry about the cost! Your boss is Zhao Xianyi, right? Please go ask him quickly!" Jiang Chen knew that the pharmacy staff had likely never encountered such a large order before.
The staff member agreed and hurried off to the clinic next door.
Inside the clinic, Zhao Xianyi was attending to patients with two assistants. Typically, if an issue could be resolved by his assistants alone, he wouldn’t need to intervene. He would only step in when they faced particularly challenging cases—a rare occurrence indeed.
So when the pharmacy staff member approached Zhao Xianyi, he had time to understand what was happening. Upon seeing the prescription slip handed over by the staff member, he was taken aback.
"This person is impressive; please invite him to my reception room!" Zhao Xianyi instructed.
The staff member nodded and returned to his post while Zhao Xianyi headed to his reception room.
Back at the pharmacy, the staff member brought Jiang Chen into Zhao Xianyi's reception room and introduced them. "Young man, this is our boss Zhao Xianyi! President Zhao, this order is from him!"
Oh, so young? Zhao Xianyi clearly hadn’t expected that. He instructed the staff member to return to his duties and set aside other matters for now.
"Young man, please sit down! Is this order yours? What’s your name?" Zhao Xianyi assumed that Jiang Chen was merely delivering an order on someone else's behalf.
"Yes, Mr. Zhao, my name is Jiang Chen!" Jiang Chen replied honestly.
"Oh, Xiao Jiang! Tell me who wrote this order and what you need these herbs for," Zhao Xianyi said eagerly, curious about who could have authored such a list.
"Mr. Zhao, I wrote this list! As for its purpose, can I not say?"
"You wrote this?" Zhao Xianyi seemed a bit incredulous upon hearing this. "You are young and look healthy, showing no signs of illness. These herbs, from what I can see, only serve to prolong life. Why would you need these herbs? If they were cheap, it wouldn't matter if you wasted a little. But this is worth over ten million!"
