Today is Friday. Lin Wan finished her class and went home with Chen Wu.
"Do you have any regrets from high school?" Chen Wu suddenly asked.
Lin Wan thought for a moment and replied, "My biggest regret is not studying hard enough. My scores weren't ideal during the college entrance exam." She had only managed to get into an ordinary first-tier university, which wasn't bad, but she always felt that if she had worked a little harder back then, she might have been able to get into a better university.
"What else?" Chen Wu asked again.
Lin Wan pondered carefully: "Well, there's also..." She paused and said softly, "I wish we could have met earlier."
Chen Wu was slightly taken aback. He turned to look at her, his gaze shifting.
Lin Wan noticed his stare and looked up at him. Their eyes met, and both fell silent.
After a while, Lin Wan looked away and continued, "But it's not too late to know each other now."
"Yeah," Chen Wu replied quietly.
"And you?" Lin Wan countered, "Do you have any regrets?"
"Me?" Chen Wu smiled, "My regret is the same as yours."
Lin Wan was stunned.
What did he just say?
His regret is the same as hers?
That means... he also wishes they could have met earlier?
Lin Wan's heart inexplicably raced a few beats faster. She turned her head and looked out the window.
The scenery outside was rapidly retreating. Lin Wan's thoughts drifted far away.
The next day was Saturday. Lin Wan had no classes and slept in.
When she woke up, she walked out of her bedroom and saw Chen Wu reading the newspaper in the living room.
"You're awake?" He put down the newspaper and looked at her. "Are you hungry? I'll go make you something to eat."
"No need," Lin Wan quickly stopped him. "I'll do it myself."
"Then wait a moment; I'll make you a cup of tea," Chen Wu said as he got up and headed to the kitchen.
Lin Wan watched his back, feeling warm inside. She walked over, sat on the sofa, and waited for Chen Wu to brew the tea.
Chen Wu soon returned with a cup of tea and handed it to her.
"Thank you," Lin Wan said as she took the cup and took a sip.
"It's good," she praised with a smile.
Chen Wu looked at her, the corners of his lips slightly curling up.
After finishing her tea, Lin Wan went to freshen up, then left with Chen Wu to go to school.
It was Parent Open Day, and the school was bustling with activity.
Lin Wan and Chen Wu arrived at the classroom and saw parents attentively listening to the teacher's lecture.
They found a spot to sit down quietly and listened as well.
When the class ended, the teacher stepped out of the classroom.
Lin Wan stood up and walked to the door.
"Thank you for your hard work, teacher," she said to him.
"It's no trouble," the teacher replied with a smile, shaking his head. "It's you parents who have it tough."
Lin Wan smiled and said goodbye to her teacher.
She turned around and saw Chen Wu standing behind her.
"What's wrong?" she asked in confusion.
"Nothing," Chen Wu smiled. "I just think it's not easy being a teacher."
Lin Wan nodded in agreement, "Yeah, it really isn't easy."
She faced so many students every day, having to talk for a long time in each class.
Moreover, she had to worry about the students' learning situations, fearing that they wouldn't understand or wouldn't do well.
"So..." Chen Wu looked at her, "don't tire yourself out too much."
Lin Wan smiled, "I know."
"By the way," Chen Wu suddenly remembered something, "Aunt prepared some throat-soothing tea and snacks for you; they're in the back seat. Don't forget to take them later."
"Okay," Lin Wan nodded.
She felt warm inside.
It felt really nice to have someone care...
