The next morning, Lin Wan got up feeling a bit down. She thought she should do something to distract herself. So, she went to the market and bought a lot of vegetables. She decided to cook a nice meal to let Chen Wu taste her skills. She spent two hours preparing a table full of dishes. Looking at her accomplishments, she felt very satisfied. She thought that Chen Wu would definitely like it. She took out her phone, snapped a photo, and sent it to Chen Wu. Soon, Chen Wu replied.
[Chen Wu: Looks great.]
[Lin Wan: Tastes even better.]
[Chen Wu: Wait for me.]
Lin Wan looked at the screen, unable to suppress a smile. She felt that she should be happy. After two hours, Chen Wu arrived. Lin Wan opened the door and let him in. Chen Wu sniffed the aroma in the air and smiled, "It smells good."
"Of course," Lin Wan said with a hint of pride.
Chen Wu walked over to the table and sat down. Lin Wan served him a bowl of rice. Chen Wu took a bite and nodded.
"How is it?" Lin Wan asked eagerly, looking at him.
"It's quite delicious," Chen Wu said.
"I told you so," Lin Wan replied, a bit smug.
"Your cooking skills have improved a lot," Chen Wu remarked.
"Of course," Lin Wan said, feeling proud.
"Do you often cook?" Chen Wu asked.
"Occasionally," Lin Wan answered.
"What about your parents?" Chen Wu inquired.
"They're both at work," Lin Wan replied.
"And what about you?" Chen Wu asked.
"I'm on vacation," Lin Wan said.
"Vacation?" Chen Wu asked, somewhat puzzled.
"Yeah," Lin Wan nodded.
"Why are you on vacation?" Chen Wu questioned.
"I just wanted to take a break," Lin Wan explained.
"Oh," Chen Wu said, not pressing further.
The two ate in silence.
Feeling a bit awkward, Lin Wan decided to change the subject.
"Where did you go yesterday?" Lin Wan asked.
"I went to the office," Chen Wu replied.
"Were you busy?" Lin Wan asked.
"Not really," Chen Wu said.
"What does your company do?" Lin Wan inquired.
"Advertising planning," Chen Wu answered.
"Oh," Lin Wan nodded.
"What about you?" Chen Wu asked.
"Me?" Lin Wan was taken aback.
"Yeah," Chen Wu nodded.
"I'm a teacher," Lin Wan replied.
"Which school?" Chen Wu asked.
"At the middle school next to our community," Lin Wan said.
"Oh," Chen Wu nodded.
"Where did you go yesterday?" Lin Wan asked.
"I went to the supermarket," Chen Wu said.
"Did you buy anything?" Lin Wan asked.
"I bought some daily necessities," Chen Wu replied.
"Oh," Lin Wan nodded.
The two fell into silence again.
Lin Wan felt a bit suffocated but didn't know what to say.
She thought she should get used to this way of interacting, but she realized she couldn't adapt at all.
She felt she should make some changes, but she didn't know how to go about it.
She thought she should take some time to reflect, but she found it hard to calm her mind.
She believed she should get a good night's sleep, yet she discovered she couldn't fall asleep at all.
Her mind felt chaotic, like a tangled mess.
She thought she should find something to do, but she realized she couldn't do anything at all.
She felt she should go out for a walk, but she found that she didn't want to go anywhere.
She thought she should organize her thoughts, but she realized she couldn't sort anything out.
Her mood was absolutely terrible.
