Tianyuan City is four hundred kilometers away from Jiang City, and it takes more than three hours to get there by highway. When Chen Wu and Lin Wan arrived in Tianyuan City, it was already six in the evening. The hotel he booked was in the commercial center of the city. When they reached the front desk, Chen Wu took out his ID and asked, "One room or two?" 0

"Two rooms next to each other, please," Chen Wu replied as he handed over his ID. Lin Wan breathed a sigh of relief; thankfully, it wasn't just one room. Although they had already confirmed their relationship, Lin Wan felt she still needed some time to digest it. If it were one room, she wouldn't know how to refuse. 0

Their rooms were on the eighth floor. After Chen Wu placed their luggage in his room, he knocked on Lin Wan's door. "Take a rest for a bit; I'll take you out for dinner later." 0

"Okay," Lin Wan responded. She walked into her room, which was clean and tidy. The large floor-to-ceiling window offered a view of the outside scenery. Tianyuan City is a city surrounded by mountains and water, known as the "City of a Thousand Lakes." 0

Standing by the window, Lin Wan looked at the view outside and suddenly felt an unreal sensation. She was about to get married. As she gazed at the scenery, Chen Wu's face appeared in her mind. 0

Chen Wu had classmates in Tianyuan City, friends he was very close with during high school. This time they came to Tianyuan City for fun, and his classmate was very happy to take time off to host them. The classmate's name was Yuan Da, who worked in the Economic Development Zone of Tianyuan City. 0

That evening, Yuan Da took them out for dinner and enthusiastically introduced them to the local customs and cuisine along the way. "The food here is mostly freshwater fish; it's not as bustling as Jiang City, but the taste is very authentic and the prices are reasonable," Yuan Da said. 0

"Sounds great," Lin Wan replied with a smile. The three of them entered the restaurant where Yuan Da had already reserved a table. After sitting down, Yuan Da asked Chen Wu and Lin Wan, "What would you like to drink?" 0

"I'm fine with anything," Lin Wan said. 0

"Then let's go with beer," Chen Wu suggested. 0

Yuan Da nodded and called the waiter for drinks. The three of them drank and ate while chatting. 0

"Xiao Wu, it's been many years since we last met. The last time was when I came to see you," Yuan Da remarked after taking a sip of his drink. 0

"Yeah, it's been five years," Chen Wu nodded in agreement. 0

"Time flies; it feels like just yesterday we were starting high school, and now you're getting married," Yuan Da laughed. 0

"You've done well too, becoming an assistant director," Chen Wu replied with a smile. 0

"Oh, not at all," Yuan Da humbly responded. 0

Lin Wan listened to their conversation, occasionally chiming in with a few words. 0

"I'm going to grab some drinks," Lin Wan said as she stood up and walked toward the beverage area. 0

As soon as she left, Yuan Da asked, "Xiao Wu, your wife is quite beautiful." 0

"She's alright," Chen Wu chuckled lightly. 0

"You’re a lucky guy," Yuan Da said enviously. 0

Chen Wu smiled but didn't say anything further. 0

Lin Wan returned with drinks, and the three continued their meal. Halfway through, Yuan Da suddenly froze, staring at a girl not far away with a look of surprise on his face. "Zhang Lu, what are you doing here?" 0

"I came to eat," the girl replied as she walked over, looking at Chen Wu and Lin Wan with a smile. "What a coincidence." 0

"You know each other?" Yuan Da asked. 0

"We're high school classmates," Zhang Lu smiled back. 0

"What a coincidence!" Yuan Da exclaimed in surprise. 0

"Yes," Zhang Lu said with a smile, looking at Chen Wu. "Long time no see." 0

"Long time no see," Chen Wu nodded casually. 0

"Are you also here for the class reunion?" Zhang Lu asked. 0

"What class reunion?" Yuan Da inquired, puzzled. 0

"Don't you know? This weekend, our high school classmates are holding a reunion," Zhang Lu explained. 0

"I really didn't know that," Yuan Da shook his head. 0

"You might not be in the group, right?" Zhang Lu said. 0
"Maybe," Yuan Da nodded. 0
"How about sitting down and eating together?" Yuan Da suggested. 0
"Sure," Zhang Lu agreed readily. 0
After Zhang Lu sat down, the atmosphere became somewhat subtle. 0
Lin Wan could clearly sense that Zhang Lu's attitude towards her was a bit unfriendly. 0
But she couldn't be bothered to care, after all, she wasn't familiar with Zhang Lu. 0
"Lin Wan, I heard you and Chen Wu are getting married?" Zhang Lu suddenly asked. 0
"Yeah," Lin Wan nodded. 0
"Congratulations," Zhang Lu smiled. 0
"Thank you," Lin Wan replied politely. 0
"Chen Wu, do you remember what I said before?" Zhang Lu suddenly looked at Chen Wu and said with a smile, "I told you that you would meet someone you like." 0
"I remember," Chen Wu nodded. 0
"I can now say I've witnessed your happiness," Zhang Lu smiled. 0
"You too," Chen Wu said lightly. 0
"I'm not as happy as you," Zhang Lu sighed, turning her gaze to Lin Wan: "Lin Wan, do you know that Chen Wu had someone he liked in high school?" 0
Lin Wan was taken aback for a moment and looked at Chen Wu. 0
Chen Wu's expression was calm, seemingly not hearing Zhang Lu's words. 0
"I don't know," Lin Wan shook her head. 0
"He had a crush on a girl in high school; he was quite infatuated," Zhang Lu said with a smile. 0
"Really?" Lin Wan chuckled: "Everyone has been young before." 0
"You don't know who it is?" Zhang Lu asked in surprise. 0
"I don't know," Lin Wan shook her head. 0
"You should ask Chen Wu," Zhang Lu said with a smile. 0
"No need," Lin Wan replied calmly。 0
"Ah, I really envy you guys," Zhang Lu sighed. 0

After finishing their meal, Chen Wu and Lin Wan left the restaurant. 0

Chen Wu walked to the end of the corridor to smoke a cigarette while Lin Wan stood beside him, looking out at the night scenery. 0

"Do you know Zhang Lu?" Lin Wan suddenly asked. 0

"I do," Chen Wu nodded. "She and I were classmates in high school." 0

"She just said you have someone you like. Who is it?" Lin Wan couldn't help but ask. 0

"An old acquaintance," Chen Wu replied casually. 0

"Oh," Lin Wan nodded, not pressing further. 0

The two fell silent for a moment. After Chen Wu finished his cigarette, he led Lin Wan to the car. 0

"You should go back and visit sometime," Chen Wu suddenly said. 0

"Yeah," Lin Wan nodded. 0

The car fell quiet as Lin Wan gazed out at the night scenery, her thoughts drifting far away. 0

She remembered that in high school, Chen Wu was a prominent figure at school; he was good at basketball and academics, and many girls liked him. 0

At that time, she liked him too. 0

But she didn't dare to talk to him and could only watch him from afar. 0

"What's wrong?" Chen Wu noticed Lin Wan's distraction and turned to ask. 0

"Nothing," Lin Wan snapped back to reality and shook her head. 0

"What are you thinking about?" Chen Wu asked with a smile. 0

"I was just reminiscing about some past events," Lin Wan replied softly. 0

"Don't think about the past anymore," Chen Wu said as he reached over to fasten Lin Wan's seatbelt for her. 0

"Why not?" Lin Wan asked in confusion. 0

"Because I just smoked, so I don't dare to kiss you," Chen Wu joked with a smile. 0

Lin Wan's face flushed red as she shot him a glare. 0

Chen Wu laughed heartily and started the car. 0
