"Xiao Wanzi, how did you get here?" Fang Yuejin asked.
"Woo woo woo..." Xiao Wanzi bit Fang Yuejin's pant leg and pulled him forward.
"Where are you taking me?" Fang Yuejin wondered.
"Woo woo woo..." Xiao Wanzi continued to hold onto the pant leg.
"..." Fang Yuejin hesitated for a moment and said, "Alright, you lead the way."
With that, he folded up the sunshade, grabbed his large bag, held his son, and followed Xiao Wanzi forward.
Xiao Wanzi led Fang Yuejin along the edge of the reservoir for several hundred meters before entering a patch of woods.
"Xiao Wanzi, where are we going?" Fang Yuejin asked.
"Woo woo woo..." Xiao Wanzi did not answer but kept moving forward.
Fang Yuejin had no choice but to follow.
One person and one dog walked along the small path in the woods for nearly two kilometers until they came across a small stream.
The water was clear and transparent, with some small fish and shrimp swimming at the bottom.
"Xiao Wanzi, what is this place?" Fang Yuejin exclaimed in surprise.
Although he had been to Yinshan Ridge before, it was always for fun around the reservoir area, and he had never ventured deep into Yinshan Ridge.
"Woo woo woo..." Xiao Wanzi barked at Fang Yuejin and then ran upstream along the creek.
Fang Yuejin hurried to catch up.
One person and one dog ran along the creek for about another two kilometers; the trees ahead grew denser, and the hillside became steeper.
"Woo woo woo..." Xiao Wanzi barked a few times towards the hillside and then ran up.
Fang Yuejin followed him up the slope.
All the while, Fang Yuejin felt anxious.
He knew that there were Wild Dogs in this forest.
Wild Dogs may not be very large, but they are extremely fierce and usually travel in packs.
If he encountered one or two, he might be able to handle it, but if he faced a group, it would be troublesome!
Fortunately, nothing happened along the way.
Xiao Wanzi brought Fang Yuejin to the edge of a thicket.
"Woo woo woo..." Xiao Wanzi stood by a bush and called out to Fang Yuejin.
Fang Yuejin quickly walked over.
"Xiao Wanzi, what's wrong?" Fang Yuejin asked.
"Woo woo woo..." Xiao Wanzi barked at the bush.
Fang Yuejin leaned in closer to take a look and was instantly stunned.
In the bush, there was a doghouse with eight puppies lying inside, all just born not long ago.
Strangely, all eight puppies had abnormal bodies; some had five legs, some had disproportionate lower bodies, and others had asymmetrical heads!
"This..." Fang Yuejin was taken aback in shock.
He quickly realized that these puppies must have been contaminated!
"Woo woo woo..." Xiao Wanzi barked at the puppies.
"Xiao Wanzi, are these your pups?" Fang Yuejin asked.
"Woo woo woo..." Xiao Wanzi nodded.
"..." Fang Yuejin felt a pang of heartache. "Xiao Wanzi, I'll take them back first and find a veterinarian in the city to help treat them."
With that, he reached down to pick up the puppies.
Just then, a commotion arose around them.
Fang Yuejin looked up and was instantly horrified!
He saw that, at some point, more than a dozen Wild Dogs had appeared around them!
These Wild Dogs were all skin and bones, their eyes glinting with greed and ferocity!
"Woo woo woo..." Xiao Wanzi arched its back, fur bristling, barking warnings at the Wild Dogs.
However, the Wild Dogs did not retreat; instead, they slowly advanced.
"Woo woo woo..." Xiao Wanzi was enraged and charged forward.
"Xiao Wanzi, don't be impulsive!" Fang Yuejin shouted anxiously.
But it was too late; Xiao Wanzi had already engaged in a fight with the Wild Dogs.
Fang Yuejin panicked, picked up a stick from the ground, and rushed in to help.
"Woo woo woo..." Xiao Wanzi barked loudly as it battled the Wild Dogs.
Although Fang Yuejin had the stick, he was too afraid to swing it down; he feared injuring a Wild Dog and attracting more of their attacks.
However, the Wild Dogs showed no fear; relying on their numbers, they took turns lunging at Xiao Wanzi.
Though brave, Xiao Wanzi soon found itself at a disadvantage against so many opponents!
"Woo woo woo..." Xiao Wanzi let out a heartbreaking cry.
"Xiao Wanzi!" Fang Yuejin shouted in desperation, swinging the stick at the Wild Dogs.
Bang bang bang...
With several dull thuds, a few Wild Dogs were knocked to the ground.
But there were just too many Wild Dogs!
As soon as Fang Yuejin knocked down a few, even more Wild Dogs charged forward!
"Get away!" Fang Yuejin roared, wildly swinging the stick.
Yet the Wild Dogs did not back down; instead, they became even more frenzied in their assault on Fang Yuejin.
Bang!
With a dull thud, Fang Yuejin took a hit on his shoulder that nearly knocked him out from the pain.
"Ah!" Fang Yuejin screamed.
"Woo woo woo..." Seeing this, Xiao Wanzi rushed over to help.
Xiao Wanzi was fierce in battle and quickly bit back the Wild Dogs.
However, the number of Wild Dogs around them was increasing.
"Whimper..." Xiao Wanzi barked at Fang Yuejin, signaling him to run away.
Fang Yuejin also realized the situation was critical, quickly picking up the puppy on the ground and fleeing towards the reservoir with Xiao Wanzi.
"Awoo—" a high-pitched howl came from behind.
"Awoo—" a deeper voice echoed from afar, seemingly from the Coyote Leader.
Fang Yuejin was terrified and ran for his life with all his might.
However, the Wild Dogs behind them were relentless in their pursuit.
"Damn it, I'll fight you!" Fang Yuejin shouted angrily.
He set the puppy down and swung his stick at the Wild Dogs.
Xiao Wanzi charged forward as well.
An intense battle ensued!
Fang Yuejin and Xiao Wanzi fought fiercely against the pack of Wild Dogs for five or six minutes.
After five or six minutes, the Wild Dog pack suffered heavy casualties, and Fang Yuejin and Xiao Wanzi were exhausted.
"Whimper..." Xiao Wanzi panted heavily, covered in blood.
"Damn it, I'll fight you!" Fang Yuejin gritted his teeth.
He raised his stick again and charged at the Wild Dog pack.
However, more and more Wild Dogs surrounded them!
"Whimper..." Seeing this, Xiao Wanzi hurriedly bit Fang Yuejin's pant leg, dragging him towards the reservoir.
Fang Yuejin understood the urgency of the situation and quickly picked up the puppy again, fleeing towards the reservoir with Xiao Wanzi.
A man and a dog fled in a panic.
Behind them, dozens of Wild Dogs were hot on their heels.

At the same time that Fang Yuejin and Xiao Wanzi were besieged by the Wild Dogs, deep in the dense forest, a strange creature stood quietly, watching them.
This creature stood upright like a human but had an enormous dog head!
