When she got home, she took a shower, changed her clothes, watched some TV, and then went to sleep.
The next day was Monday, and she had to go to work. Early in the morning, she was woken up by a message from Chen Wu. He sent a photo of his newly renovated house and asked, "How is it?" Lin Wan squinted at the screen for a moment and replied, "It's good." "Shall I pick you up?" Chen Wu asked again. Lin Wan glanced at the time; it was seven o'clock. She wanted to sleep a little longer. "No, I have to work today. Let's do it another day." "Okay, see you another day." Lin Wan put down her phone and turned over to continue sleeping.
She had classes all day—two in the morning and two in the afternoon. After finishing her classes, she checked her phone and saw several messages from Chen Wu. She opened them casually; they were just some daily greetings with nothing special. She replied briefly and packed her things to get off work.
After work, just as she was about to leave, her phone suddenly rang. She picked it up and saw it was Chen Wu. She answered, "Hello." "Are you off work?" Chen Wu asked. "Yes," Lin Wan said, "I'm just about to leave." "Want to grab dinner together?" Chen Wu asked. Lin Wan thought for a moment and said, "Sure." "Then come to the school gate; I'll wait for you there," Chen Wu said. Lin Wan agreed and hung up the phone. She packed her things and went downstairs.
When she arrived at the school gate, she looked around but didn't see Chen Wu. Just as she was about to call him, she suddenly heard his voice behind her: "Over here."
Lin Wan turned around, and Chen Wu was right behind her. He was wearing a gray trench coat today, with a white shirt underneath, looking clean and neat.
Lin Wan smiled and asked, "When did you arrive?"
"Just now," Chen Wu replied. "Let's go."
"Where to?" Lin Wan inquired.
"There's a hot pot restaurant over there," Chen Wu said. "Do you want to eat there?"
"Sure," Lin Wan responded.
Chen Wu walked ahead while Lin Wan followed behind. She looked at his back and felt a sense of nostalgia, as if she had returned to high school when she used to follow him at a distance, secretly liking him.
When they arrived at the hot pot restaurant, they sat across from each other. Chen Wu handed her the menu and said, "Order whatever you like."
Lin Wan was not polite and ordered several of her favorites. Chen Wu watched her with a smile in his eyes.
After Lin Wan finished ordering, she pushed the menu towards him and said, "I’m done."
Chen Wu nodded, ordered a few more items, and then signaled for the waiter to leave.
While waiting for the food to arrive, Lin Wan casually brought up a topic: "What do you usually like to do?"
"Nothing special," Chen Wu replied. "Besides work, I just stay at home."
"Do you like watching movies?" Lin Wan asked.
"It's okay," Chen Wu said. "What about you?"
"I like it too," Lin Wan said. "I especially enjoy horror movies."
"Really?" Chen Wu laughed. "Why do you like horror movies?"
"I find them thrilling," Lin Wan answered. "What about you? Don't you like them?"
"Not really," Chen Wu said. "I think they're a bit boring."
Lin Wan laughed, "How can they be boring? They're so exciting!"
Chen Wu looked at her with a light smile in his eyes. After saying that, Lin Wan realized her comment sounded a bit silly. She felt a little embarrassed and lowered her head to drink some water.
Chen Wu chuckled but didn't say anything further.
The dishes arrived quickly, and the two chatted while eating.
Lin Wan is quite talkative and can go on and on about anything.
Chen Wu is more reserved, just listening and occasionally chiming in with a few words.
Both of them enjoyed their meal.
After finishing dinner, Chen Wu asked her, "What do you want to eat tomorrow?"
Lin Wan thought for a moment and replied, "How about barbecue?"
"Sounds good," Chen Wu nodded, "I'll pick you up tomorrow."
Lin Wan agreed.
After dinner, they walked out together.
At the door, Chen Wu asked, "Did you drive here?"
"I did," Lin Wan said, "I'm leaving now."
"Okay," Chen Wu nodded, "Drive safely."
Lin Wan nodded and walked away.
Chen Wu stood there, watching her leave.
After taking a few steps, Lin Wan suddenly remembered something.
She turned back, and Chen Wu was still standing there.
Seeing her turn around, Chen Wu smiled and asked, "What is it?"
Lin Wan pressed her lips together and smiled back, "It's nothing, I'm leaving."
She turned around and left.
When she got home, Lin Wan washed up and went to bed.
The next day was Tuesday, and she had classes in the morning.
After class, she checked her phone and saw that Chen Wu had sent a few messages inviting her to dinner that evening.
She replied briefly and then packed up her things to leave work.
