Yan Jien took a minute to rest before feeling slightly better. He struggled to stand up and thanked Yan Weila.
"It's nothing..." Yan Weila shook her head.
"Um... let me help you clean up the blood and the Mutant Mouse's body at your place..." Yan Jien said awkwardly.
"Okay..." Yan Weila nodded.
So, Yan Jien began to gather the Mutant Mouse's body and wiped the blood off the floor. After finishing, he planned to return to his own place.
"Yan Jien..." Yan Weila called out to him.
"What is it?" Yan Jien asked, puzzled.
"Can I... can I sleep at your house?" Yan Weila hesitated before asking tentatively.
"Ah?" Yan Jien was surprised.
"I'm... I'm scared alone..." Yan Weila's face turned red.
"Well..." Yan Jien hesitated. He wasn't unwilling; he just feared that Yan Weila would discover his secret. However, since she already knew about his mutation, perhaps other secrets wouldn't matter as much?
"Yan Jien, I'm begging you... I'm really scared..." Yan Weila pleaded.
"Then... okay..." Yan Jien finally nodded.
"Thank you!" Yan Weila expressed her gratitude.
"Why are you still standing there? Hurry up and clean your place!" Yan Jien reminded her.
"Oh, right!" Yan Weila quickly reacted and got to work. She first disposed of the Mutant Mouse's body in the trash can, wiped the blood off the floor, and finally sprayed air freshener.
"Now it's all good..." Yan Weila sighed in relief.
"Yeah!" Yan Jien nodded.
"I'm going to use the bathroom now!" Yan Weila said as she walked in and locked the door behind her.
Yan Jien waited in the living room, taking out his phone to check the surveillance footage, only to find that Rabbit One had stopped moving.
"Dead?" Yan Jien frowned. He felt a bit regretful, after all, the Number One Rabbit was his only successful creation. "It seems I can only proceed with the second round of experiments..." Yan Jien said helplessly. He thought for a moment, took out his notebook, and recorded his guesses and thoughts.
After more than ten minutes, the sound of water in the bathroom stopped. "Yan Jien, could you help me get a nightgown?" Yan Weila's voice came from inside. "Huh?" Yan Jien was surprised. "I can't wear my previous clothes anymore..." Yan Weila said awkwardly. "Well... okay..." Yan Jien hesitated for a moment but ultimately agreed.
He opened the wardrobe in Yan Weila's house, found a nightgown, and placed it at the bathroom door. "Thank you..." Yan Weila said as she opened the door to take the nightgown, her face flushed. "You're welcome..." Yan Jien replied awkwardly.
When Yan Weila finished her shower and came out, Yan Jien then entered the bathroom to wash up. After he finished washing up and came out of the bathroom, he found Yan Weila sitting on the sofa in the living room. "Yan Jien, could you help me get a blanket?" Yan Weila asked, her face red. "A blanket?" Yan Jien was puzzled. "I plan to sleep on your tatami tonight..." Yan Weila explained. "Oh, okay!" Yan Jien nodded.
He went to the bedroom to get a blanket and handed it to Yan Weila. "Um... could you also help me get a pillow?" Yan Weila asked again. "A pillow?" Yan Jien was surprised. "I'm used to sleeping with a pillow..." Yan Weila explained shyly. "Well... okay..." Yan Jien hesitated for a moment but ultimately agreed again.
He went back to get a pillow and handed it to Yan Weila. "Thank you..." Yan Weila said gratefully.
"You're welcome... Since you've finished tidying up, I'll head back first!" Yan Jien said.
"Mm!" Yan Weila nodded.
Yan Jien returned to his laboratory and took out Rabbit No. 3.
He injected Rabbit No. 3 with Wolf Poison and then observed the rabbit's reaction.
Half an hour later, Rabbit No. 3 suddenly went wild, running around in its cage.
Yan Jien observed closely and noticed that Rabbit No. 3's eyes had turned red.
"Is this the effect of Wolf Poison?" Yan Jien was surprised.
He continued to watch as Rabbit No. 3, in its frenzy, began to convulse violently and eventually collapsed on the ground.
Yan Jien opened the cage to check on Rabbit No. 3's condition.
He found that Rabbit No. 3's breathing had stopped, and its body was stiff.
"Dead?" Yan Jien frowned.
He had initially thought that since Rabbit No. 3 hadn't been killed by the Wolf Poison, it would surely survive; he didn't expect it to die in the end.
"It seems I can only rely on Group Two and Group Three..." Yan Jien sighed.
He decided to wait a bit longer and began conducting other experiments instead.
He took out the remaining two rabbits and drew blood samples for analysis.
At the same time, he performed some routine tests, such as weighing them and measuring their temperature, among others.
After completing these tasks, Yan Jien checked the surveillance again.
He noticed that both Rabbit No. 1 and Rabbit No. 3 were motionless, while Rabbit No. 2 was lively and jumping around.
"Could it be that Rabbit No. 2 will succeed?" Yan Jien was delighted.
He patiently waited; an hour passed, and Rabbit No. 2 was still full of energy.
"It's working!" Yan Jien exclaimed excitedly.
He planned to continue observing; if Rabbit No. 2 was still alive tomorrow, it would mean his hypothesis was correct!
"Hm?" Yan Jien suddenly saw Yan Weila walking out of her bedroom.
"Why is she still awake?" Yan Jien wondered.
He glanced at the clock and realized it was already midnight.
"She wouldn't be waiting for me on purpose, would she?" Yan Jien thought to himself.
He hesitated for a moment but ultimately got up and went to the living room.
"What are you doing? Why aren't you asleep?" Yan Jien asked.
"I can't sleep..." Yan Weila shook her head.
"What's wrong?" Yan Jien inquired with concern.
"I'm thinking about you..." Yan Weila looked at Yan Jien, her expression complicated.
"My situation?" Yan Jien was surprised.
"How did you end up like this?" Yan Weila asked curiously.
"Haven't I mentioned it before? I became like this after I got bone cancer..." Yan Jien explained.
"But... that's unbelievable!" Yan Weila was shocked.
"Yeah..." Yan Jien smiled bitterly.
"Is that why you conducted those experiments?" Yan Weila asked again.
"Yes!" Yan Jien nodded.
"Have you gained anything from it?" Yan Weila was curious.
"I have made some progress, but it still needs further verification..." Yan Jien replied.
"Oh..." Yan Weila nodded.
"It's getting late; you should hurry and go to sleep..." Yan Jien urged.
"Mm..." Yan Weila nodded again.
Although she agreed, she didn't move.
"Why aren't you sleeping yet?" Yan Jien asked in confusion.
"I'm going to sleep now..." Yan Weila realized and quickly got up to head toward the bedroom.
Yan Jien watched Yan Weila's back and couldn't help but shake his head with a bitter smile. He returned to the laboratory to continue his experiments.
