Fu Xieli stood outside the hospital room, clutching a medical report in his hand. The description of the condition on the paper made his fingers tremble slightly.
He stared at the few lines of text, his gaze gradually darkening, as the indifference he usually wore faded away, replaced by confusion and unease.
The cold, harsh lights of the hospital corridor shone mercilessly into his heart, reflecting the corners he was most unwilling to face.
At that moment, his close friend Yanyan walked out of the room. Upon seeing Fu Xieli, her expression was mixed with anger and helplessness.
Yanyan lifted her chin, suppressing her inner indignation, and looked directly at Fu Xieli. "When do you plan to go back in and see her? What she needs is companionship, not a cold back."
Fu Xieli looked up at his friend, complex emotions flickering in his eyes.
After a moment of silence, he finally spoke, his voice much lower than usual. "How... how is she?"
Yanyan sighed, her expression slightly weary. "The doctor said she needs rest and should avoid any stimulation. Can you manage that, Fu Xieli?"

Fu Xieli did not answer; he simply walked toward the door of the room, gripping the doorknob and standing there as if hesitating.
He pushed open the door, and everything inside the room came into view: the cold white sheets and the rhythmic beeping of the heart monitor. I lay quietly on the bed, my face pale yet serene.
He stepped forward and stood by my bedside, gazing at me for a long time.
That face he had always misunderstood and ignored now caused a slight ache in his heart.
He recalled all those moments in the past when he had overlooked my care and silent dedication.
I slowly turned my eyes and opened them to look at Fu Xieli, a hint of a bitter smile tugging at my lips. "You came."

Fu Xieli felt a flutter in his heart; he nodded slowly but expressed a hint of regret in his words. "I'm sorry."
I gently shook my head, my voice weak yet firm. "We've wasted too much time; let's not hurt each other anymore. I'm tired."
Meanwhile, in the luxurious study at home, Father Fu sat behind his desk, spreading out a business report before him with a gloomy expression. He held onto his glasses, unable to conceal the frustration and helplessness within him.
"If Xieli's work is affected by this matter, the family's business will face serious trouble."
The secretary stood cautiously beside him, handing over new documents and trying to persuade gently, "Perhaps Young Master and Young Mistress need some time; feelings will always improve, sir."
Father Fu gazed at the documents in his hand, a fleeting, elusive emotion flashing in his deep eyes. "I hope so; otherwise, we will all become a joke."

In a corner of the Fu Xieli household, Bai Yueguang Lu Wanting stood by the window, the distant flow of traffic blurring before her eyes. She gently brushed away the dust on the window, a self-deprecating smile on her face. "I thought I could change something; I overestimated myself."
Her assistant quietly approached and asked in a low voice, "Miss, what should we do next?"
The childhood friend suppressed her smile, determination filling her eyes. "Since Xieli has made his choice, I shouldn't be the one to disturb his life."
---
"You..." I weakly spoke, looking at Fu Xieli with a glimmer of hope in my eyes.
Fu Xieli remained silent, simply watching me while an intense inner struggle raged within him. He didn't know how to face his feelings or how to make amends for the past hurt he caused me.
"Are you... regretting it?" My voice grew softer as I tried to stay awake and see Fu Xieli's gaze clearly.
Fu Xieli frowned slightly; he wanted to deny it but found himself unable to do so. He took a deep breath and slowly said, "I..."
"You don't have to say it; I understand." I interrupted him with a bitter smile. "I know the one you have always loved is her."
I was referring to Fu Xieli's Bai Yueguang Lu Wanting; their childhood bond was a well-known fact among everyone.
Fu Xieli's heart sank suddenly. He could not deny my judgment, but he was also unwilling to admit his own cowardice. He had always attributed his feelings for Lu Wanting to guilt, never considering whether he truly loved her.
"No, you're wrong," Fu Xieli said softly, a hint of determination in his voice. "I... I have feelings for you too."
His words left me stunned; I couldn't believe my ears. I looked into Fu Xieli's eyes, hoping to find a trace of genuine emotion there.
"Do you... really?" My voice trembled slightly.
"Really," Fu Xieli affirmed, his tone resolute as he gazed into my eyes, trying to make me believe in his sincerity.
"But... why have you always been so cold to me?" I asked, my voice laced with doubt.
"Because I'm afraid," Fu Xieli admitted. "I'm afraid to face you, afraid to confront my own feelings, and even more afraid of your disappointment in me."
He laid bare his true thoughts, and his eyes were filled with sincerity, revealing the vulnerability deep within him.
"You..." I fell silent for a moment, understanding Fu Xieli's fear, but I could not hide the disappointment in my heart. My feelings for Fu Xieli were genuine; I hoped he could be honest with himself instead of hiding behind indifference and deception.
"I'm tired." The female protagonist closed her eyes, and my voice grew softer, as if I might fall asleep at any moment.
"You..." Fu Xieli wanted to say something but ultimately said nothing at all.
Meanwhile, Father Fu was anxiously waiting for news from Fu Xieli in the study. He repeatedly dialed his son's number, but there was no answer.
"What is this child doing?" Father Fu murmured to himself, filled with anxiety.
He was worried that Fu Xieli's issues with his daughter-in-law would affect the family business, which was everything to him. He could not tolerate anyone disrupting his plans, nor could he accept his son sacrificing the family's honor for personal feelings.
"Sir, Miss Lu is here," the secretary's voice pulled Father Fu back to reality.
Father Fu looked up, his gaze dark as he turned towards the door. He gestured for the secretary to let Lu Wanting in, while internally calculating how to handle the situation.
Lu Wanting entered the study, her eyes filled with worry. She looked at Father Fu and said softly, "Uncle, I heard... Xieli went to see her?"
"Yes," Father Fu replied flatly, but his eyes were filled with pressure.
"Uncle, do you really intend to sacrifice Xieli's happiness for the sake of the family's interests?" Lu Wanting's eyes were pleading; she hoped Father Fu could understand Fu Xieli's pain and allow him to pursue his own happiness.
"Happiness?" Father Fu scoffed, his gaze cold as he stared at Lu Wanting. "What do you think happiness is? Happiness is money, power, and family honor—not personal feelings!"
Lu Wanting fell silent.
"Wan Ting, I tell you, Xieli's responsibility is to inherit the the Fu Family and uphold the family's interests," Father Fu said firmly, his eyes resolute. "You cannot let him get lost in personal feelings, and you must not allow him to do anything that would affect the family's interests!"
Lu Wanting took a deep breath; she knew she could not change Father Fu's mind.
"I understand," Lu Wanting nodded, her tone calm but her eyes filled with disappointment.
"That's good to hear," Father Fu said with satisfaction as he turned his gaze out the window, contemplating his next move.
He needs to ensure that Fu Xieli can return to normal work as soon as possible, to ensure that the family business can operate smoothly, and to ensure that the the Fu Family can continue to stand at the pinnacle of the business world.
Lu Wanting came out of the study, her steps somewhat heavy. She glanced back at the study, her heart filled with sadness.
On the other side, Lu Wanting's assistant was standing by the hotel room window, looking out at the scenery. He frowned slightly, filled with doubt.
"Miss, are we really not going to do anything else?" the assistant asked, his tone laced with concern.
"No, we no longer have a chance," Lu Wanting shook her head, gazing out at the view with a sense of helplessness in her eyes.
She knew that Fu Xieli had already made his choice, and there was nothing she could do to change his decision.
"Miss, are you really willing to just give up like this?" the assistant asked, his tone tinged with reluctance.
"Give up?" Lu Wanting scoffed, a fierce glint flashing in her eyes. "I will not give up; I will never give up."
She would not allow Fu Xieli to find happiness; she would not let anyone hurt her. She would make those who harmed her pay the price.
Lu Wanting's assistant watched the fire burning in her eyes and knew that things were far from over. Her calmness and indifference were merely a facade; deep within her, there was a strong desire for revenge.
The room fell silent for a few seconds before the assistant spoke up. "Miss, what do you plan to do next?"
Lu Wanting did not answer. She walked toward the desk in the room, picked up her phone, and dialed a number.
"Hello, it's me, Wanting." Lu Wanting's voice was low and carried a hint of coldness. "I need you to help me with something—a very simple task."
On the other end of the phone, a hoarse voice responded, "Go ahead, miss."
"You just need to help me do one thing: make Fu Xieli remember the cost of betraying me forever." Lu Wanting's voice grew lower, filled with a murderous intent. "This shouldn't be too difficult for you, right?"
The person on the other end fell silent for a moment before slowly saying, "Rest assured, miss. I guarantee I will complete the task."
Lu Wanting hung up the phone with satisfaction and turned to the window, looking out at the bustling street below, a faint smile on her lips.
---
On the other side, Fu Xieli stood in the hospital corridor, hesitating as he stared at the door of the ward.
He clearly remembered what his wife had said before she fell into a coma: "You don't have to say anything. I understand. I know the one you love has always been her."
In that moment, it felt like a thunderbolt struck him. He realized his feelings for his wife; the deep guilt and heartache that surged from within made it impossible for him to ignore.
Taking a deep breath, he gathered his courage and pushed open the ward door.
Inside the room, I lay on the bed, my face pale and breathing weak, unable to even open my eyelids.
"You’re here." It felt as if a faint voice reached my ears, weak and hoarse yet filled with tenderness and hope.
Fu Xieli's heart trembled as he approached the bedside and softly asked, "How are you?"
"I'm fine." My voice remained weak, but there was a hint of a smile on my lips. "Don't worry about me."
Fu Xieli gently held my hands; they were cold and powerless yet brought him an indescribable warmth.
"I've arranged for the best doctors. You'll be better soon." Fu Xieli's voice was low and gentle as he tried to comfort me with words but found himself at a loss for how to express his true feelings.
"I'm fine," the female lead gently shook her head, her voice growing softer as if it might disappear at any moment. "Thank you, Fu Xieli."
"Don't say that, you are my..."
Fu Xieli wanted to say the word "wife," but suddenly stopped.
He took a deep breath and slowly said, "We still have time. I will take good care of you from now on."
---
In Fu Xieli's voice, there was an imperceptible panic. His gaze was fixed on me, yet he dared not meet her eyes filled with hope and tenderness.
"I have arranged for the best doctor," he repeated, his tone slightly firm as if trying to mask his anxiety. "You will get better soon."
I let out a soft laugh, my breath faint as if it could vanish at any moment. But the smile tightened Fu Xieli's heart.
"Thank you, Fu Xieli," I said softly, my voice as light as a feather yet resonating clearly in his ears.
"You..." He wanted to say something but didn't know where to start.
"I'm fine." My voice grew quieter, like clouds scattered by the wind. Her eyes gently closed as she whispered, "There are some things I want to tell you."
Fu Xieli's heart tightened. He suddenly looked up, his eyes filled with tension and unease. He grasped my hand tightly, waiting for her answer.
"Lu Wanting has always been using you." My tone was low and calm, my words piercing Fu Xieli's heart like a sharp blade.
---
Fu Xieli's face showed disbelief; his breathing quickened as if struck by lightning, leaving him frozen in place.
"This... this is impossible..." he murmured, his tone filled with uncertainty.
"It’s true." My voice was still weak, but filled with determination. "She has always been using you, using your feelings, using the Fu Family."
"She approached you just to exploit you." My voice grew softer; I could no longer continue speaking. She slowly closed her eyes, her breathing becoming weaker.
A surge of anger welled up in Fu Xieli's heart. He suddenly stood up, his eyes filled with rage and killing intent.
"Why would she do this?" Fu Xieli's tone was cold and furious, disbelief evident in his voice.
"This... this..." He couldn't accept the truth. He couldn't believe that the woman he had loved for so many years could be so heartless.
"She wants to take everything from the Fu Family." My voice was weak and powerless, my face filled with pain as if recalling some unbearable past.
"She wants to use you to lead you step by step towards destruction. She is not the daughter of the Lu Family, but a child of the Lo Family who has been entangled with Old Fu for many years." I gently closed my eyes; her breathing grew weaker, and she had no strength left to continue speaking. The economic case involving the Lo Family had shocked all of Jiangcheng, and the Fu Family was one of those in the know.
He silently stared at me.
