The convoy slowly entered the temporary fortress, with searchlights sweeping over their armor, covered in mud and stains. The temporary fortress was hastily constructed by members of the "Star Fox" cruiser, appearing quite old but serving as their only refuge. 0

Captain Damian stood at the command post on the high platform, striking a powerful pose. He picked up the microphone and his booming voice echoed throughout the fortress: "Our heroes have finally returned!" Instantly, the temporary fortress erupted with enthusiastic cheers and screams, as if for a moment forgetting the brutality of the battlefield and as if trying to overturn the dilapidated roof of the fortress. 0

However, the enthusiastic cheers cannot conceal a fact: the number of survivors is few, the soldiers' expressions are solemn, and their eyes reveal deep fatigue and sorrow. Major General Li and Brigadier General Jack stride towards the command post, their uniforms covered in stains and blood. 0

Major General Li picks up the microphone first, his voice not hiding his fatigue: "Alpha Team had 37 members in the battle. 17 were killed, including our deputy officer, Second Lieutenant Mike. There are 20 survivors." 0

Following that, Brigadier General Jack stepped forward, his face covered in bruises and his cheeks swollen, as if he had just been through an extremely severe battle. This made Captain Damian furrow his brow. Brigadier General Jack said, "Bravo squad had 41 members in combat, 31 were killed, and 10 survived." 0

After hearing this, Captain Damian took a deep breath, his face becoming even more serious. He put down the radio and, in a nearly desperate tone, said, "Everyone, please let us stop all activities and mourn for these brave soldiers for a minute." 0

The atmosphere of the entire fortress instantly became heavy, and the enthusiastic cheers and screams disappeared without a trace. The wind howled, and in the distance, the occasional sound of gunfire and explosions could be heard, but these sounds could not break the one minute of mourning. Everyone stood in place, closing their eyes or bowing their heads in silent prayer. They all felt the heavy cost brought by this war, and at the same time, they understood that all this war and sacrifice was far from over. 0

Captain Damian stood on the command platform, his passionate voice piercing through the ship's broadcast system. He held the microphone in one hand and gestured with the other, as if conducting an invisible symphony. "We have walked the path of brokenness and death, but please remember, every sacrifice is not in vain. We must win this war; it is the best memorial to our lost brothers and sisters!" 0

The people in the room were deeply moved, with applause and slogans echoing back and forth. But Leo stood in the corner, his expression different from the others. 0

His face contorted in pain and anger, like a mirror about to shatter. Every word, every syllable felt like countless needles piercing his heart. He recalled the scenes he witnessed on the battlefield: young soldiers dying in each other's arms, medics helplessly watching lives slip away, and the so-called "victories" achieved at the cost of lives. 0

"Our enemies are cold-blooded and merciless, but we are brave and indomitable!" Captain Damian shouted again. 0

Leo's fists clenched to the extreme, feeling like he was suffocating. "Is this the battle we are fighting for?" Doubt filled his heart. 0

He no longer wants to be a part of this fervent celebration. He no longer wants to be a blind follower, becoming a sacrifice in ignorance. He turns away, stepping through the clapping and cheering crowd as if he were in a narrow tunnel. 0

Entering his room, Leo slams the door shut, as if to permanently shut out those voices and fervor. He stands there, taking deep breaths, but even so, he still feels a sense of suffocation. 0

He walked to the window and looked at the vast starry sky outside. Those stars, far from war and madness, seemed to be telling their own stories in the silence. Tears welled up in Leo's eyes involuntarily, and he suddenly felt that those stars were closer to him than anyone else. 0

"What am I doing here? What am I really looking for?" Leo muttered to himself. 0

He returned to the bedside once again and opened the drawer. Inside was a photo of him with his family and friends, from the days before he joined the army and before he experienced war and sacrifice. As he looked at the photo, he suddenly felt an indescribable emptiness and loss. 0

"This is what I once had, this is what I lost for what..." He touched the photo, and tears finally rolled down his cheeks. 0

He put the photo back in the drawer and closed it gently. He knew he couldn't go on like this. He needed to find the answers, even if it meant facing the darkness scattered with stars alone. 0

Captain Damian's speech was still ongoing, but Leo had completely shut it out. He sat down and began to contemplate the path he would take next. A path not for war, not for fanaticism, but for true meaning and value. 0

On this night, a temporary fortress on Four Minnow Star was filled with an unprecedented atmosphere of joy. Captain Damian ordered: tonight, all soldiers can lay down their weapons, temporarily forget the threat and tension of war, and revel to their heart's content. The music rang out loudly, as if to dispel the darkness of the entire universe. The soldiers changed into casual clothes, gathered in the central square of the camp, and the laughter and cheers intertwined into an unusually vivid scene. 0

Various foods and drinks were placed on the table, some of which were even precious ingredients brought from distant Earth. Some soldiers played guitars and harmonicas, improvising melodious tunes. The usually serious and solemn officers also let go of their airs and danced and sang with the soldiers. At this moment, it seemed that everyone had forgotten that they were in the distant Four Minnow Star, and not in a lively bar or dance hall in their hometown. 0
