After finishing his work at the company, Yan Jien received a WeChat message from Tong Liya on his way back.
"Brother Yan, do you remember the question I asked you last Saturday?" Tong Liya inquired.
"What question?" Yan Jien had forgotten.
"The one where I asked if you liked me," Tong Liya reminded him.
"Oh, I remember now. What's up?" Yan Jien replied, puzzled.
"Is your answer still the same?" Tong Liya asked again.
"What answer?" Yan Jien was confused by the question.
"What do you think?" Tong Liya countered.
"I said I consider you like a sister," Yan Jien answered.
"Okay, I understand. Thank you, Brother Yan." Tong Liya seemed to be in a much better mood.
"Mm." Yan Jien looked bewildered.
Yan Jien didn't understand why Tong Liya suddenly asked him this question, but he didn't delve deeper into it. After taking care of everything that needed to be done, he returned to the company.
Once he organized his work, Yan Jien began to meditate. Compared to a few days ago, he could now easily count to over sixty times before showing signs of distraction. After practicing for several consecutive days, Yan Jien's meditation frequency had noticeably improved.
...
At the Time Coffee House.
"Liya, did you find out anything?" Ma Yun asked.
"No, my mom won't say anything," Tong Liya replied, feeling frustrated.
"Then there's nothing we can do," Ma Yun said helplessly.
" Ma Yun, do you think my mom might know Brother Yan?" Tong Liya suddenly asked.
"Know Brother Yan?" Ma Yun was surprised.
"Yeah," Tong Liya nodded.
"No way! Brother Yan and your mom are completely from different worlds!" Ma Yun doubted.
"I also think it's unlikely," Tong Liya shook her head.
"But your mom's reaction was indeed very strange," Ma Yun frowned.
"I thought about it all night yesterday, and I really can't figure out any connection between my mom and Brother Yan," Tong Liya said helplessly.
"Actually, there's another possibility," Ma Yun hesitated.
"What possibility?" Tong Liya pressed.
"Your mom knows Brother Yan and is very familiar with him!" Ma Yun speculated.
"How is that possible?" Tong Liya's eyes widened.
"Think about it, why does your mom oppose you getting close to Brother Yan? She must know what kind of person Brother Yan is," Ma Yun analyzed.
"But I've never seen my mom interact with Brother Yan," Tong Liya said in confusion.
"Maybe they've met privately?" Ma Yun suggested.
"Impossible!" Tong Liya firmly denied.
"Why?" Ma Yun asked, puzzled.
"If my mom had really met Brother Yan, I would definitely have noticed," Tong Liya asserted.
"Forget it, let's think of other possibilities," Ma Yun said helplessly.
"Other possibilities?" Tong Liya was confused.
"For example, your mom knows a relative of Brother Yan?" Ma Yun guessed.
"That also seems unlikely," Tong Liya shook her head.
"That's not right either, I can't guess anymore," Ma Yun said speechlessly.
"Sigh, what should we do?" Tong Liya was almost in tears from anxiety.
"If it really doesn't work, just pretend to agree with your mom and say you won't contact Brother Yan anymore," Ma Yun suggested.
"And then?" Tong Liya asked.
"Then secretly continue dating Brother Yan. After some time, your mom will relax," Ma Yun proposed.
"Can that really work?" Tong Liya doubted.
"Just give it a try," Ma Yun said helplessly.
"Then... I'll give it a try?" Tong Liya hesitated.
After leaving the company, Yan Jien arrived at West Lake Zoo.
"Let's try confronting a tiger."
With that thought, Yan Jien made his way to the Tiger Enclosure.
"Roar!" The tiger let out a roar upon seeing Yan Jien.
"Hmm?" Yan Jien felt a heaviness in his head, and a wave of dizziness washed over him.
"I'm feeling dizzy." Yan Jien quickly closed his eyes.
"Eh?" Suddenly, Yan Jien noticed that the tiger seemed frightened.
"What's going on?" Yan Jien looked confused.
"Could it be that it wasn't just my imagination?" Yan Jien was astonished.
"Let's try again." Yan Jien looked at the tiger once more.
"Roar!" The tiger roared again.
"Dizzy!" Yan Jien felt the dizziness return.
"My focus can affect the tiger!" Yan Jien realized.
"What would happen if I concentrated my attention on the tiger?" Yan Jien had a sudden idea.
"Whoosh!" Yan Jien stared at the tiger, concentrating intently.
"Roar!" The tiger growled uneasily and began to back away slowly.
"It seems like it's afraid?" Yan Jien was surprised.
"No, this isn't fear; it's terror!" Yan Jien concluded.
"Could it be that concentrating on it makes it feel pain?" Yan Jien speculated.
"Let's try another animal." Yan Jien changed his target.
"Whoosh!" Yan Jien focused his attention on a monkey in the distance.
"Screech!" The monkey screamed a few times and ran away.
"It doesn't seem to have any effect?" Yan Jien frowned.
"Let's try again." Yan Jien redirected his focus back to the tiger.
"Roar!" The tiger let out a piercing scream and fled in panic.
"Monkeys are primates, while tigers are mammals. Why is the tiger afraid, but the monkey isn't?" Yan Jien wondered.
"Let's try birds next," Yan Jien decided, setting a new target.
"Whoosh!" Yan Jien focused on a sparrow perched on a tree.
"Chirp chirp." The sparrow called out a few times before flapping its wings and flying away.
"Why aren't birds affected either?" Yan Jien frowned.
"Will fish and insects be affected?" Yan Jien suddenly thought.
"Let's test it," Yan Jien changed his target.
Ten minutes later, Yan Jien left the park.
"Fish and insects are indeed not affected," Yan Jien realized.
"It seems that the so-called Divine Sense is not effective on all creatures," Yan Jien speculated.
"In the future, I should avoid using Divine Sense to attack mammals; it could lead to trouble if discovered," Yan Jien decided.
...
Back home, Yan Jien took a shower and began exercising.
"Transform!" Yan Jien growled softly.
"Swish!" His fingernails and canine teeth instantly emerged, and his eyes turned amber.
"The time has been reduced to three minutes!" Yan Jien glanced at his watch, feeling very satisfied.
"Revert!" With a thought, Yan Jien commanded.
"Swish!" His nails and fangs quickly disappeared, and his eyes returned to their normal color.
"I should try to maintain my human form as much as possible," Yan Jien reminded himself.
Next, Yan Jien conducted extreme heart rate and flesh-cutting experiments, recording the results meticulously.
After completing all of this, Yan Jien began to ponder his relationship with Tong Liya.
"Liya seems to be in a good mood today," Yan Jien thought to himself.
"It’s better to keep some distance in the future," Yan Jien concluded.
