"Ah, finally gone."
Seeing Tong Liya leave the company, Yan Jien let out a sigh of relief.
Tong Liya's mood was clearly off today, and Yan Jien felt a bit worried.
"Brother Yan, are we going to eat?" Deng Kaiwen walked over.
"Let's go," Yan Jien nodded.
"Brother Yan, do you know what kind of person Pan Dongcheng is?" Deng Kaiwen suddenly asked.
"I don't know, why?" Yan Jien replied.
"He was working here before you came to the company. At that time, he was a competitor of Hua Chunlin; both wanted to be the team leader," Deng Kaiwen explained.
"What happened later?" Yan Jien asked again.
"Later, Manager Wu gave the position of team leader for the drafting team to Hua Chunlin, and Pan Dongcheng resigned," Deng Kaiwen answered.
"Then why did he come back?" Yan Jien wondered.
"I don't know; he probably couldn't make it elsewhere," Deng Kaiwen shrugged.
"Let's go eat," Yan Jien patted Deng Kaiwen on the shoulder.
...
Tong Liya was pestered by Pan Dongcheng for most of the morning. After realizing that Tong Liya had little desire to engage in conversation, he adopted a cold demeanor.
At noon, when work hours were over, Tong Liya packed her things and left the company.
"Hua Ge," Pan Dongcheng approached.
"What is it?" Hua Chunlin looked up.
"What's the deal with that Tong Liya?" Pan Dongcheng asked.
"She's Yan Jien's apprentice; why, are you interested in her?" Hua Chunlin chuckled.
"No, I was just asking casually," Pan Dongcheng denied.
"She's a nice person and works seriously, but she has nothing to do with you or me," Hua Chunlin said.
"Why not?" Pan Dongcheng questioned.
"You just arrived and don't understand some situations; Yan Jien is quite popular in our design department and has a good relationship with Manager Wu," Hua Chunlin explained.
"So what?" Pan Dongcheng was confused.
"You really are dense; let's put it this way: Yan Jien and Tong Liya have an unusual relationship; they might have already slept together," Hua Chunlin whispered.
"What?" Pan Dongcheng was taken aback.
"I heard it too; it's not certain, but many people in the company are saying that," Hua Chunlin stated.
"This is too much!" Pan Dongcheng said, heartbroken.
"They took the initiative; there's nothing we can do," Hua Chunlin patted Pan Dongcheng on the shoulder.
"Damn it!" Pan Dongcheng was frustrated.
"By the way, why are you so interested in those two?" Hua Chunlin asked.
"Nothing much, I just think that Tong Liya is quite pretty," Pan Dongcheng smiled.
"Alright then, take your time pursuing her. I'm heading back to eat," Hua Chunlin said.
"Okay, see you later, Hua Ge," Pan Dongcheng nodded.
"This guy really seems to have taken a liking to Tong Liya," Hua Chunlin thought to himself.
...
Food Street.
" Ma Yun, my mom doesn't let me get close to Brother Yan," Tong Liya said, distressed.
"Why?" Ma Yun asked, puzzled.
"I don't know; she insists that Brother Yan and I aren't suitable," Tong Liya replied, feeling down.
"Then you should explain to her that your relationship with Brother Deng is just a teacher-student one," Ma Yun suggested.
"I did, but she doesn't believe me at all," Tong Liya said helplessly.
"That's strange," Ma Yun frowned.
"The weirdest part is that my mom says Brother Yan is not a good person," Tong Liya added gloomily.
"Really? Why?" Ma Yun was surprised.
"I don't know; I asked her, but she wouldn't say," Tong Liya shook her head.
"Have you talked to Brother Deng about this?" Ma Yun asked.
"Not yet," Tong Liya replied.
"You should ask Brother Deng and see if he has any idea," Ma Yun suggested.
"Yeah," Tong Liya nodded.
"By the way, when did your mom start opposing your contact with Brother Deng?" Ma Yun suddenly asked.
"Last Saturday," Tong Liya recalled.
"Last Saturday?" Ma Yun frowned.
"What’s wrong?" Tong Liya asked in confusion.
"Last Saturday, did you bring Brother Deng home?" Ma Yun inquired.
"Yes." Tong Liya admitted.
"Then it's settled." Ma Yun affirmed.
"What do you mean?" Tong Liya asked, confused.
"I guess your mom must know Brother Deng." Ma Yun speculated.
"How is that possible?" Tong Liya's eyes widened.
"Think about it, if your mom didn't know Brother Deng, why would she suddenly oppose you getting close to him?" Ma Yun analyzed.
"But I've never seen my mom interact with Brother Yan!" Tong Liya questioned.
"Maybe they've met privately?" Ma Yun suggested.
"Impossible!" Tong Liya firmly denied.
"Why not?" Ma Yun asked, puzzled.
"If my mom really met Brother Yan, I would definitely have found out." Tong Liya was certain.
"Forget it, let's think of other possibilities." Ma Yun said helplessly.
"Other possibilities?" Tong Liya was confused.
"For example, your mom knows a relative of Brother Deng?" Ma Yun guessed.
"That also seems unlikely." Tong Liya shook her head.
"That's not right either, I can't think of anything else." Ma Yun said in frustration.
"Sigh, what should we do?" Tong Liya was on the verge of tears.
"If all else fails, just pretend to agree with your mom and say you won't contact Brother Deng anymore." Ma Yun suggested.
"And then?" Tong Liya asked.
"Then secretly continue dating Brother Deng, and after some time, your mom will relax." Ma Yun proposed.
"Can that really work?" Tong Liya doubted.
"Just give it a try." Ma Yun replied helplessly.
"Then... I'll give it a try?" Tong Liya hesitated.
