Yan Jien conducted a test in the park, measuring his speed and endurance. He sprinted at full force ten times, each lasting half a minute, and surprisingly felt no fatigue at all. He then sprinted continuously for a minute and still had not reached his limit.
"My physical fitness is at least five times stronger than that of an average person, if not more," Yan Jien was astonished. He searched online for related information and discovered that the world's top marathon runners have a heart rate of around one hundred sixty beats per minute during a one-minute sprint. In contrast, his heart rate reached about three hundred beats per minute!
"No wonder I feel my heart racing," Yan Jien realized. He browsed through numerous resources but found no similar cases and had to temporarily give up. "I'll buy a fitness tracker tomorrow to monitor my heart rate at all times," he thought to himself.
He glanced at the time; it was already eight o'clock, and it was time to head home. As Yan Jien retraced his steps, he passed by the northeast corner of the park and overheard some conversations.
"Come on, dear!"
"Don't mess around; there are people here."
"What are you afraid of? This is exciting."
"I can't; I'm scared."
"You're such a coward; I'll do it."
"Hey, what are you doing?"
"Don't scream; I'm taking off your clothes."
"Ah, no! Hahaha..."
Listening to the familiar dialogue, Yan Jien couldn't help but reminisce about his youth from ten years ago. "Ah, youth is truly wonderful," he sighed. Shaking his head, he avoided the couples in the park and made his way to Old Villa.
He entered the yard but found no trace of the mutated rat king; instead, he saw the bodies of more than twenty small mutated rats.
"Could it be that they strayed too far from their mother and died?" Yan Jien frowned.
After inspecting the scene, he noticed that the bodies of the small mutated rats had not decayed and did not emit any foul odor.
"They must have died less than twenty-four hours ago," Yan Jien concluded.
He stroked his chin, contemplating his next move.
"Chasing in now would probably yield no results in finding the rat king. I should focus on the property transfer and furniture replacement first," Yan Jien pondered.
He planned to track down the mutated rat king after completing these tasks.
"If it's hiding in Jinyuan Mountain, it will eventually run into me," Yan Jien speculated.
Leaving the Old Villa, he instinctively glanced at the northeast corner as he passed by the park.
"Huh? It's gone?" Yan Jien was surprised.
He checked his phone; only twenty minutes had passed. In such a short time, had the battle already ended?
"Maybe they were just having a scuffle without any real fighting," Yan Jien guessed.
He chuckled, hopped on his bicycle, and returned home.
...
Deep within Jinyuan Mountain, in a hollow.
The mutated rat king lay on the ground, its body trembling slightly as it let out a mournful wail.
Its belly was enormous, as if something inside was writhing.
"Roar!"
The mutated rat king howled in anger and suddenly convulsed, causing a bloody mass to slide out from its belly.
It was a cub; unlike the previous small mutated rats, this cub was longer in shape, with longer limbs and sharper claws.
Especially its teeth, which were white and sharp, glinting coldly.
"Chirp chirp chirp." The cub called out a few times before pouncing onto the nearby grass and tearing at the blades of grass below.
"Hiss hiss hiss!" The mutated rat king gave birth to another cub.
"Chirp chirp chirp!"
"Hiss hiss hiss!"
...
In just a few minutes, the mutated Rat King gave birth to nine offspring.
These offspring varied in shape, but all resembled the Rat King, only longer and more agile.
"Chirp chirp chirp!"
"Hiss hiss hiss!"
The nine offspring surrounded the Rat King, fighting for food.
The Rat King licked off the slime from their bodies, then grabbed a small goat that had been prepared earlier and tossed it in front of the offspring.
"Chirp chirp chirp!"
"Hiss hiss hiss!"
The nine offspring rushed toward the goat, tearing into it frantically.
The goat screamed and struggled, but it was futile; it was quickly torn to pieces.
