Shen Xi and Shen Mingxu had completely fallen out. They argued all day long, blaming each other. Shen Xi complained about Shen Mingxu's greed, which caused her to lose the chance to become an internet celebrity, while Shen Mingxu accused Shen Xi of dragging the whole family down. They even got into a physical fight during one intense argument.
When I learned about it, I could only sneer. I had long known that the downfall of this family was irreversible.
That day, my parents called me. "Xiao Xi, how have you been lately?" my mother asked.
"I'm fine," I replied.
"Your brother and sister have had some issues recently..." my mother hesitated to continue.
"Is that so?" I asked.
"Ah..." My mother sighed and didn't say anything further.
"Is there something you need?" I inquired.
"Xiao Xi, are you still angry with us?" my mother asked cautiously.
"..." I didn't respond.
"Xiao Xi, we were wrong; we are sorry for you," my mother pleaded. "Can you come back to see us?"
"..." I remained silent.
"Xiao Xi, please, I'm begging you," my mother's voice trembled with tears.
Listening to her cry, I felt somewhat numb inside.
"Alright," I said finally.
I agreed because I had completely let go of the past. I was numb to their pleas and simply listened quietly to their lamentations. In the end, I firmly rejected their request and made it clear that I would live for myself and no longer be bound by family ties. Their expressions were somewhat complex upon hearing my words.
I know they can no longer save me.
"You... take care of yourself," my father said with a sigh, glancing at me.
I smiled faintly and said nothing.
I knew I had completely liberated myself.
My life would no longer be controlled by anyone.
In college, I found my own rhythm.
I worked hard on my studies while continuing to work part-time, living entirely on my own abilities.
I felt an unprecedented sense of freedom and fulfillment; life became more enriching and interesting.
I actively participated in various university activities, including academic lectures and club events, showing great enthusiasm and energy as I shared unforgettable moments with my classmates.
In the laboratory, I diligently conducted experiments, meticulously recording data, and my mentor frequently nodded in approval, praising me as a rare talent.
In my senior year, I secured an internship.
"Xiao Xi, your resume is truly impressive; welcome to our team," the interviewer said to me.
"Thank you for your recognition," I replied with a smile.
"Work hard, and you will have great development opportunities," the interviewer said, patting my shoulder.
With confidence, I began my internship life.
I quickly adapted to the new environment and actively participated in project discussions.
"I think this area can be improved like this..." I shared my thoughts and suggestions during a group meeting.
My colleagues looked at me in surprise after hearing it.
"Wow, no wonder you're an outstanding student; your ideas are different," one colleague exclaimed.
"I think we should give it a try," another colleague agreed.
"Xiao Xi, your ideas are excellent," my supervisor praised, "Keep up the good work, and I'll give you more opportunities."
"Thank you," I replied with a smile.
After the meeting, my supervisor called me into the office.
"Xiao Xi, your talent really surprises me," my boss said with a smile.
"Thank you for the compliment," I replied humbly.
"Keep up the good work; I have high hopes for you," my boss patted my shoulder.
"I will," I nodded.
I walked out of the office, feeling a bit excited.
I knew I was starting to stand out.
As long as I continued to work hard, there would definitely be better opportunities ahead.
I began to look forward to the future, planning for further education and career development.
At night, the office was empty, and I sat quietly at my desk, contemplating the path ahead.
