He suddenly recalled the time when Fu Sang faced off against the Fox Spirit, and how her left arm had been slashed. He tore open the sleeve of his shirt to inspect the wound, but to his surprise, there was not a single mark on his entire arm. The white fabric was stained red with blood, yet how could there be no injury? He had witnessed the Fox Spirit cut her left arm himself. 0

Perhaps she had used her own spiritual power to heal herself, without relying on medicine or external forces, merely using her own energy to rapidly mend the wound in a short time. What kind of high cultivation would that require? However, this internal injury had occurred while she was unconscious; she hadn’t used her own spiritual power but rather relied on external energy, and yet she had managed to heal remarkably. 0

Nan Ying's injuries had only healed halfway under the treatment of the Spirit Pearl, while she... Pei Huaizhi had sensed something extraordinary about her when he first met her; it seemed she harbored many secrets. 0

Two afternoons later, Fu Sang awoke from her wooden bed. Across from her was a desk cluttered with books, and beside it stood a wardrobe. She noticed that her clothes had been changed. A young boy entered through the door, his gaze not even glancing in Fu Sang's direction as he walked straight to the desk, muttering, "I don’t want to do my homework, I don’t want to do my homework." 0

As soon as he stepped into the room, Fu Sang noticed him. He was the son of the man who had asked her to exorcise the Evil Spirit. Seeing him lively and healthy, it seemed that the Evil Spirit in the mountains had indeed been dealt with. Fu Sang got out of bed and took a few steps toward the door when suddenly she heard a gasp behind her. Turning around, she saw it was the boy who made the sound. 0

Hearing her voice, his mother rushed over and opened the door. Upon seeing Fu Sang standing there, she exclaimed happily, "You’re finally awake! You've been asleep for two days!" Then her expression changed as she admonished, "You can’t go out until you finish your homework." 0

Fu Sang looked around the living room; there was no longer any deathly aura in the house. The woman brought out fruits, snacks, and tea and placed them on the table. "You haven’t eaten anything these past two days; come eat something to fill your stomach. I’ll make you chicken soup later to help you regain your strength." 0

Her enthusiasm made Fu Sang feel a bit uncomfortable. "There’s no need to trouble yourself; what about those from the Spirit Master Association?" 0

"They're still up in the mountains working on some formations; I don’t know what it's for, but it’s supposed to be good for the village," she continued. "Thank goodness I listened to your father back then; from now on, I won’t judge people by their appearance." 0

Just then, the boy's father returned and saw that Fu Sang was awake. He said joyfully, "Master, you’re finally awake! You are our family’s benefactor." 0

Benefactor? Fu Sang didn’t dare accept such a title; she was merely doing her job for money and didn’t consider herself a benefactor at all. She opened her mouth to speak when the man immediately said, "Jia Le, why aren’t you coming out to thank the Master?" 0

Moments later, a sixteen-year-old boy approached Fu Sang and bowed deeply before her with a bright smile. "Thank you, Master." After saying that, he left. The woman watched her son’s lively demeanor with a beaming smile and said, "Ever since he woke up, he has become much more talkative than before; he doesn’t stay holed up in his room anymore and even asks for permission before going out. It feels almost unreal." 0

The man replied, "What’s unreal about it? I see my son still loves eating the fish I cook just as much as before." 0

Seeing their family so happy warmed Fu Sang’s heart. She wandered around the village alone; when she first arrived at Fengjie Village, she only paid attention to Nanjun Mountain behind it and hadn’t noticed the sprawling rice fields within the village or its beautiful scenery. After walking a few hundred steps and looking around at the lush green grass and flowing water that sparkled under the sun like layers of gold light dancing upon its surface—taking in deep breaths of fresh air filled with invigorating scents—she felt intoxicated by such beauty. Yet Fu Sang merely gazed at everything calmly without showing any sign of affection. 0

At that moment, a gentle and familiar voice came from behind her: "How are you feeling?" 0

She didn’t turn around; just by his tone she could tell it was Pei Huaizhi speaking. She replied, "I’m doing well; thank you for healing me." 0

He intended to say there was no need for thanks but suddenly realized how she knew it was him who treated her since she had been unconscious at that time. Curiously he asked, "How did you know it was me who healed you?" 0

Fu Sang paused for a moment before answering, "I guessed." 0

Ah, guessed. Pei Huaizhi noted that she spoke with such naturalness that it didn’t seem like a lie; after all, she had been present when he treated Wei Nanying as well. It was indeed reasonable for her to deduce that he was the one who provided treatment. 0

However, Fu Sang did not rely on deduction but rather on her sense of smell. Nature contained spiritual energy that carried distinct scents; when Pei Huaizhi guided Spirit Pearl’s energy into her body during treatment using his own spiritual essence, his energy would linger on Fu Sang afterward. When she woke up, she recognized his unique scent on herself and thus knew it was Pei Huaizhi who healed her. 0

Pei Huaizhi felt slightly embarrassed as he said, "You guessed quite accurately." 0

Asking about her healing wasn’t Pei Huaizhi's original intention; he merely wanted to express concern for how she was feeling. However, being taken aback by her sudden gratitude left him surprised and flustered enough to ask an awkward question instead. He knocked his head lightly as he thought about how high her cultivation level must be—she could have figured out it was him who treated her—and yet here he was acting so surprised about it all; it made him feel somewhat foolish. 0

He glanced at Fu Sang who was focused on admiring the scenery ahead of them and suddenly thought of a line from poetry: “Pride like frost in clear colors; fragrance like autumn dew.” It perfectly suited her temperament. Although they had met three times already, those encounters were all during urgent moments in darkness where Pei Huaizhi hadn’t truly observed her closely at all. This time he would certainly imprint her appearance deeply into his memory. 0

"Is the Azure Wind Pearl with you?" Fu Sang's question broke the existing silence. 0

Pei Huaizhi took a pouch from his clothing pocket. The pouch was entirely brown, embroidered with several identical patterns resembling branches with leaves, curling like flowers in a symmetrical arrangement. This pattern was called the Honeysuckle Pattern, the family crest of the Pei Family. The honeysuckle, also known as the wind vine, is evergreen and symbolizes resilience and strength. 0

Fu Sang observed the orderly arrangement of the patterns on the pouch, resembling a small magical array imprinted on it. Pei Huaizhi took out the Spirit Pearl from the pouch and placed it in his palm. The surface of the Spirit Pearl was covered with dense, bright lines. He knew these lines were Spirit Talisman attached to the Spirit Pearl, intentionally suppressing its aura and spiritual light to prevent attracting Evil Spirits. 0

He then took Fu Sang's hand and placed the Spirit Pearl in her palm gently, saying, "This is your Spirit Pearl." 0

Fu Sang looked at the fragment of the Spirit Pearl, which was about the length of a thumb and as thick as a bottle cap. It was exquisite and translucent, shimmering with colorful light. Just a moment of contact allowed her to feel the silky and gentle aura entering her skin. She said, "Your Spirit Master Association should be looking for this too. Don’t you want it?" 0

Pei Huaizhi replied, "The Spirit Master Association has clear divisions of labor. My job is only to eliminate Evil Spirits; finding Spirit Pearls is not my responsibility. Besides, this Spirit Pearl was obtained by your own strength; it rightfully belongs to you. You don’t need to worry about my team; this matter is known only to you and me." 0

That night, after he treated Fu Sang, he hid the Spirit Pearl. When He Guannan and Wei Nanying arrived, he claimed that the Spirit Pearl had been snatched away by Wen Fengjin. 0

Fu Sang said, "If you knew the true power of the Spirit Pearl, perhaps you wouldn't have given it to me so easily." 0

Pei Huaizhi replied, "So far, it seems that the Spirit Pearl has healing properties and can temporarily enhance one's spiritual power. Aside from that, what other abilities does it have?" 0

Fu Sang explained, "A complete Spirit Pearl can purify all evil forces and transform them into pure spiritual energy. That’s why the Locking Demon Tower beneath West Lake was once suppressed by Spirit Pearls instead of relying on today’s magical arrays. Besides that, there’s another function you might find interesting: when assisted by a Soul Lantern, a complete Azure Wind Pearl can bring someone back to life." 0

The idea of resurrection seemed unbelievable, yet Fu Sang spoke so earnestly that it felt as if she had witnessed this process herself. Mentioning the Soul Lantern reminded Pei Huaizhi of what his grandfather had once told him: "There exists a lamp that can bind human souls; it's called the Soul Lantern. This lamp uses hair from the soul-bound person as its wick, blood from the person lighting it as oil, and their life as flame. Once lit, if it goes out midway, the person lighting it may lose half their lifespan or even die on the spot." At that time, he thought his grandfather was just telling stories and making things up. But now that Fu Sang mentioned the Soul Lantern again, could it really exist? 0

Since she brought it up, he decided to ask more questions. Pei Huaizhi continued, "Does this Soul Lantern truly exist?" 0

Fu Sang answered confidently, "Of course it exists! I thought you would be more interested in resurrection but didn't expect you to ask about the Soul Lantern instead. The Soul Lantern and Azure Wind Pearl both belong to ancient Holy Artifacts. Speaking of Holy Artifacts, do you know what the four great Holy Artifacts currently in existence are?" 0

Pei Huaizhi shook his head. Since childhood, he had focused on learning medicine and how to subdue Evil Spirits. He often read ancient texts to fill in his knowledge gaps and occasionally went out for trials to gain more experience and improve his abilities. Having dealt with Evil Spirits frequently made him knowledgeable about them; for instance, he knew who the four major Evil Spirits were. 0

The four major Evil Spirits were: Azure Faced Ghost Lan Ming, Crimson Umbrella Ghost Wen Fengjin, Heartless Demon Miandeng, and Thousand-Faced Snow Monster Ransheng. They were grouped together because all four were formidable entities among Evil Spirits that instilled fear in Spirit Masters. The Thousand-Faced Snow Monster was killed by Wen Fengjin two hundred years ago and its soul was suppressed beneath Tianshan Mountain; Heartless Demon had only been seen once two hundred years ago at Yaoshan and had not been heard from since; although Wen Fengjin operated discreetly, there were still occasional sightings of his red umbrella; apart from Lan Ming, who had caused trouble everywhere since his emergence into this world—hence over these years, the Spirit Master Association had focused their efforts on dealing with him. 0
