I was taken aback for a moment and looked down. I was sitting in the last row, and there was no one behind me. I quickly turned around and found a phone mirror on my seat. I picked up the mirror and took a glance, instantly gasping in shock. My earlobe was swollen, with two clear rows of bite marks on it. They were left by Chen Shan.
I frowned and was about to put down the mirror when my phone suddenly vibrated. I picked it up and saw a WeChat message from Chen Shan: "Sister, remember to think of me." My heart skipped a beat, and I quickly put away the mirror and looked up. Chen Shan was standing not far away, grinning at me with a mischievous expression.
I shot him a glare, put away my phone, and turned to leave. Just a few steps out, my phone vibrated again. I picked it up to see another message from Chen Shan: "Sister, remember to think of me~"
I replied: "Do you remember what I asked you before?" He quickly responded: "I remember, I agree."
I looked down at my phone, a smile slowly forming on my lips. Suddenly, my phone vibrated again; it was a call from Cui Lidong.
I answered, "Hello."
Cui Lidong's voice was gentle: "Are you back? Was the journey smooth?"
I replied softly, "Almost there, just ten more minutes."
Cui Lidong said, "I'll wait for you at the school gate and take you out for dinner."
I smiled and said, "Okay."
After hanging up the phone, I looked outside. We would be arriving at school soon. Before long, the car reached the station.
I got out of the car and walked towards the school gate. Just as I arrived at the entrance, I saw Cui Lidong standing not far away, smiling at me.
I quickly walked up to him and smiled, "Have you been waiting long?"
He shook his head and smiled back at me, "Are you hungry? Let me take you to eat."
I shook my head and softly said, "Let's talk first."
He was taken aback for a moment but nodded, "Okay."
We walked side by side to the playground and found a spot to sit down.
Cui Lidong remained silent, sitting quietly.
After hesitating for a long time, I finally said softly, "Cui Lidong, let's break up."
He stiffened for a moment and looked up at me.
I met his gaze and said softly, "I'm sorry."
He was momentarily stunned and then tugged at the corners of his mouth, "Why so suddenly..."
I shook my head and said softly, "It's my fault."
He remained silent for a long time before replying softly, "Alright."
I looked at him; his eyes were red.
A pang of pain shot through my heart, and I reached out to hug him.
He stiffened for a moment but instinctively hugged me back.
In his embrace, I whispered, "I'm sorry."
He shook his head, his voice hoarse, "It's my fault for not protecting you well."
I shook my head and didn't say anything.
He held me for a long time until someone approached us.
Only then did he let go of me and said softly, "Take good care of yourself."
I nodded and turned to leave.
After taking a few steps, he called out, "Chen Qian."
I turned back to look at him.
He smiled at me and said, "You must be happy."
I smiled back and replied, "I will be."
I turned around and took a few steps forward.
Suddenly, my phone vibrated.
I picked it up and saw a post from Ma Yiming: [“Sheng Ge finally dares to come to the gathering!”]
There was a photo below.
In the photo, Cui Lidong was sitting in the corner, holding the hand of a girl in a floral dress.
I glanced at it but didn't pay much attention.
When I returned to the dormitory and just walked in, Yuanyuan rushed over to hug me.
She smiled and said, "You're back? Who brought you back? Was it Cui Lidong?"
I shook my head and softly replied, "It was my brother."
She paused for a moment and blinked, "Your brother? When did you get a brother?"
I chuckled softly and said, "I've had him for a long time."
She pouted, "Why haven't I heard you mention him?"
I smiled again and said softly, "You'll know in the future."
She huffed and took my hand, leading me into the room.
I followed her inside; she poured me some water and got me some fruit.
While she was busy, she asked me, "How many days are you staying home this time?"
I smiled and said, "I'm not going back."
She was taken aback, "Huh? Why not?"
I smiled again, "No reason, I just don't want to go back."
She looked at me suspiciously, "Are you hiding something from me?"
I chuckled lightly, "Nothing's wrong; don't overthink it."
She huffed again and turned to walk out.
