I woke up hungry in the middle of the night and went to the living room looking for something to eat.
I found Chi Mu back home.
He had bought a big house for that young assistant, and they were living together.
She cooked for him, cheered him up, and waited for him to come home.
He seemed to be doing well.
He hadn't been home in a long time.
Leaning against the floor-to-ceiling window, he had a cigarette in his mouth and was staring at me intently.
As I walked past him, he suddenly grabbed my arm.
He gently said, "Zhao Zhao, why have you lost so much weight?"
I shook off his hand. "What are you going crazy about?"
His expression slowly turned cold.
I walked over to the dining table and noticed a cake filled with candles.
It turned out he really had bought me a cake.
It turned out he was truly seeking reconciliation.
Unfortunately, I didn't need it anymore.
I grabbed the cake and threw it forcefully into the trash can.
Chi Mu suddenly pushed me against the wall. "Ning Zhaozhao, are you playing with me?"
I smiled provocatively. "Yes, I'm playing with you. So what?"
"Chi Mu, who do you think you are?"
"More than ten years ago, you begged in front of me like a dog."
"Now I can still make you kneel in front of me like a dog."
He was enraged by my words.
He dragged me into the bedroom and violently tore open my nightgown.
I struggled desperately, hitting him, cursing him, begging him.
But he paid no attention, only becoming more ferocious as he shattered me.
Tears streamed down uncontrollably.
He pinned me down and said fiercely, " Ning Zhaozhao, your body is much more honest than your mouth."
"You say you don't want it, but your body is very honest."
I cried out, " Chi Mu, you bastard, let me go!"
"I'm going to accuse you of rape!"
" Chi Mu, you beast!"
He kissed my ear, his tone mocking: "Beast? Didn't you used to love my kisses?"
"You once said my body was your remedy."
"What's wrong? Don't you like it anymore?"
"Then who do you want to like?"
"Is it that poor old doctor you want to like?"
"I'll tell you, with just one word from me, he won't be able to survive in this city!"
I closed my eyes, not wanting to see his ugly face.
He finally stopped.
Looking down at me from above, as if I were a dog.
At that moment, his phone rang.
He walked over, glanced at the caller ID, and his eyes flickered slightly.
I knew it was He Linlin calling.
He answered, his tone instantly softening: "Linlin, what's wrong?"
On the other end of the line, He Linlin was crying, her voice filled with sorrow: " Mu, are you really going to choose Ning Zhaozhao over me?"
"I'm at a bar right now, and so many people are trying to hit on me. I'm so scared."
Chi Mu didn't say anything; he just turned to look at me, a cold smile on his face.
He said, "Linlin, you know I hate being threatened."
"If someone were to ask me to stay..."
He Linlin cried even harder: " Mu, if she truly loves you, how could she let you go?"
Chi Mu lowered his gaze to me, his voice very soft: " Ning Zhaozhao, beg me to stay."
My body trembled.
Beg him?
Once, I had begged him too.
That winter, he truly went mad.
He pinned me against the wall, the tip of the knife pressed against me, hoarsely growling, "Why don't you love me? Why don't you love me?"
I trembled in fear, but still mustered the courage to reach out and touch his pale face. " Mu, I love you. I really love you so much."
"Do you believe me, please?"
He froze for a moment, then screamed frantically, "Liar! You're a liar!"
"You're just like them; you only want to deceive me. Damn it, damn it!"
"Then go die!"
The knife plunged deep into my chest.
Blood spurted onto his face.
He suddenly came to his senses.
Terrified, he released me and watched as I fell to the ground, trembling as he tried to stop the bleeding.
He cried incoherently, "Zhao Zhao, I didn't mean to! I didn't mean to!"
"Please forgive me."
"I'm sick. I'm really sick. I can't control myself."
"Do you believe me, please?"
I smiled weakly, "Okay."
Later, he truly got better.
But he no longer loved me.
He even told me, " Ning Zhaozhao, you don't deserve it."
Chi Mu stared at me, waiting for my response.
I grabbed his collar and smiled back at him, " Chi Mu, you don't deserve it."
Chi Mu was taken aback for a moment, then laughed self-deprecatingly.
He turned around and answered the phone, speaking softly, "Linlin, don't be afraid, I'm coming to get you."
He didn't look at me again and slammed the door as he left.
Chi Mu, do you really love He Linlin?
Not necessarily.
You're just too narcissistic.
You can't see the sincerity others have for you; you only feel that others are playing with you.
So when He Linlin said she loved you, you were deeply moved.
You thought finally someone took your feelings seriously.
So you threw yourself at her without hesitation.
But you were wrong.
He Linlin is the one playing with you.
What she values is only your money.
