The twilight sun cast its glow on the bustling street, the orange light filtering through the gaps in the leaves, creating a dappled reflection on the ground. Li Chen held his camera, weaving through the throngs of people, his heart filled with the passion for creation. As a photographer, he was always on the lookout for moments that could touch the soul, hoping to tell every ordinary yet unique story through his lens.
"Bang!" A sudden light sound came from behind him. Li Chen turned around and saw a girl sitting on the ground, her shopping bags scattered everywhere. Her cheeks were slightly flushed, appearing somewhat embarrassed, but there was a hint of stubbornness in her eyes. Li Chen felt a stir in his heart and quickly raised his camera, pressing the shutter to capture her moment of clumsiness and cuteness.
"Are you okay?" Li Chen asked with concern as he stepped forward and bent down to help her pick up her things.
"Thank you, I'm fine," the girl smiled slightly, revealing her white teeth, like a spring breeze. Her eyes sparkled like the night sky, full of vitality. "My name is Wang Xue. What's yours?"
"Li Chen." He looked up, meeting her gaze, and felt a jolt in his heart. The girl's smile was like sunshine—warm and bright.
As they chatted casually, Li Chen discovered that Wang Xue also had a strong interest in photography. She enjoyed capturing moments from life and had once dreamed of becoming a photographer. Li Chen felt delighted, as if he had found a like-minded friend. "Would you like to take photos together? I can teach you some techniques."
"Sure!" Wang Xue nodded excitedly, her eyes sparkling with anticipation.
They walked together to a nearby park filled with blooming flowers and picturesque scenery. Sunlight filtered through the leaves, casting dappled shadows that were dreamlike in their beauty. Li Chen set up his tripod, carefully adjusting the angle while patiently explaining photography techniques to Wang Xue. She listened attentively, occasionally trying to take pictures, her face radiating with a bright smile.
At that moment, Li Chen caught sight of a figure. The figure was dressed in a black trench coat, walking with their head down, their face shrouded in shadow—mysterious and vague. Instinctively, Li Chen pressed the shutter button again, feeling a tightening in his chest. In the photo, that person's silhouette seemed out of place amidst the surrounding scenery, like an uninvited guest. A strange chill ran through him, though he couldn't pinpoint why he felt that way.
"Li Chen, what are you photographing?" Wang Xue's voice pulled him back from his thoughts.
"Oh, nothing," Li Chen quickly retracted his camera but felt an overwhelming curiosity about that photo.
As time passed, the light gradually dimmed and streetlights began to illuminate the area. Li Chen and Wang Xue continued taking pictures, their rapport deepening with each moment shared. They talked about life, dreams, and the future—sometimes laughing and sometimes serious—as if this world belonged only to them.
"I always feel that photography is an art of time," Li Chen said thoughtfully as he gazed into the distance. "It allows us to freeze those fleeting moments and capture the essence of life."
"Yes," Wang Xue nodded thoughtfully, a pensive expression crossing her face. "I hope to express my love for life and my yearning for beautiful things through my lens."
A warm current surged within Li Chen; he realized that Wang Xue was not just an interesting girl but also a passionate soul filled with dreams. As they continued exchanging thoughts, their hearts gradually drew closer.
Just then, Li Chen's phone rang, interrupting their conversation. He picked it up casually and saw an unfamiliar text message that made his heart race. The message was simple yet chilling: "I know your secret." In that instant, unease washed over him as if shadows from the past were quietly closing in.
Wang Xue noticed the change in Li Chen's demeanor and tightly grasped his hand. His gaze seemed to drift through her as if lost in deep thought. He knew that all this beauty seemed to be overshadowed by an unknown darkness lurking nearby, and he would have to face the challenges ahead. The happiness of the future seemed to be pulled by secrets he had yet to uncover...
Li Chen took a deep breath and decided not to let this message affect their lives. He wanted to cherish every moment they shared during this time; however, that sense of unease continued to spread within him.
