"Grass, actually I have never told you, you have always been my only heir..."
I looked at Aunt in surprise.
Aunt took my hand and had me sit beside her. "Child, we are blood relatives; I have never hidden anything from you. All my assets are left to you. How could I leave my fortune to outsiders and not to you?"
"I was upset with you not because you married Wu De, but because you turned against me for an outsider."
"Over the years, I watched you suffer in the Wu family. I wanted to help you, but you know I am not one to back down easily, so I couldn't fulfill that wish..."
"I am really happy that you can come back..."
I looked at Aunt in astonishment. "Aunt, why are you so good to me?"
Aunt looked at me, a hint of sadness appearing on her face. "Because you are the only bloodline my sister left in this world; you are my dear niece."
I gazed at Aunt, feeling a pang in my heart.
"Aunt, I thought..."
Aunt shook her head. "What did you think? That I hated you?"
Aunt held my hand and rambled on about many things.
"Child, come home..."
As I pushed open the door, I noticed many unfamiliar items in my house.
I felt puzzled and was about to ask Wu De when the guest room door swung open.
The Mistress walked out with a small belly, holding her chin high and looking quite arrogant.
I stared at the Mistress in surprise, then glanced at Wu De and his mother.
All three of them were here; what was going on?
My mother-in-law eagerly asked me, "So? Did your Aunt give you the inheritance?"
I shook my head. "Not so soon."
My mother-in-law looked a bit disappointed, but I continued, "However, Aunt is still quite happy..."
Instantly, a smile returned to my mother-in-law's face.
My mother-in-law asked again, "So you two are divorced, does your Aunt believe it?"
I hesitated for a moment, "Well, I showed her the divorce certificate..."
I then deliberately added, "But Aunt seems a bit skeptical; she suspects we might be faking it..."
Wu De and the Mistress's expressions instantly turned sour.
My mother-in-law hurriedly explained, "Your Aunt doesn't know; my De loves you to the bone. For you, he would do anything, even if it means divorce."
I pointed at the Mistress and said, "Didn't you say your son only loves me? Then who is she?"
My mother-in-law looked a bit embarrassed, and Wu De quickly came over, took my hand, and said, "You misunderstood; she's my cousin... Oh, her name is Xiao Lei."
"She's pregnant and has no one to take care of her. Plus, with me divorcing you, my mom needs someone to look after her, so she came to our house..."
The Mistress was there picking at her nails.
Seeing this made me chuckle inside.
Picking at nails means picking at money.
So I mimicked her and started picking at my nails: "Oh dear, look at my nails; I haven't had a manicure in ages..."
I laughed as I walked over to the Mistress and elongated my voice: "Darling, your nails are so beautiful!"
"Where did you get your manicure? It's really nice!"
The Mistress shot me a glare.
I pretended to say, "I'm going to get the most expensive manicure just to infuriate those who look down on me..."
Wu De gritted his teeth: "What do you need that for? It's not practical."
"You know, I just sold my car; I don't have that much money on hand..."
I glared at him: "What do you mean by that?"
"Weren't you the one who said you loved me? If you won't even let me get a manicure, what kind of love is that?"
"You said yourself that after the divorce, you'd meet any of my requests."
"Are you telling me to go back to my Aunt right now and tell her our divorce is fake?"
Wu De's expression darkened as he stared at me for a long time before finally relenting:
"Okay, okay, okay, I'll give you money... go get your nails done."
When Mistress heard this, she was furious that Wu De was going to give me money and immediately grabbed Wu De's arm tightly.
Wu De pushed Mistress away and pulled his mother-in-law, heading outside.
As they walked, he said, "Let's go buy you some good food..."
