A few days later, we received his call. He agreed to our collaboration. We arranged a meeting place and discussed the details of our cooperation in depth. We decided to start from the business sector of the Zhao Family. Chen Yifei would be responsible for investigating their business records while we continued to approach it from a legal standpoint. Chen Yifei acted quickly. He found the business records of the Zhao Family and discovered several large transactions from a few years ago. However, the sources and uses of these funds were quite vague. He suspected that these funds might be involved in illegal transactions. He shared this information with us, and we decided to investigate these funds further. We aimed to uncover their sources and uses. Perhaps this was the weakness of the Zhao Family Brothers.
We continued our in-depth investigation. We found the employees responsible for these funds back then. Some of them had already left the Zhao Family, while others were still working at the Zhao Family's company. We reached out to them individually and inquired about the situation regarding these funds. However, they were all unwilling to disclose too much information. They feared retaliation from the Zhao Family, or perhaps they truly did not know much.
But one employee revealed an important clue to us. He said he had heard that Zhao Tian and Zhao Di had argued about these funds. He felt that perhaps Zhao Di was not satisfied with the use of these funds. "Maybe you can go find Zhao Di," he suggested. "Perhaps he would be willing to share some information."
"Okay, thank you," we expressed our gratitude to him and decided to look for Zhao Di. We found an opportunity at a charity gala hosted by the Zhao Family, where we encountered both Zhao Tian and Zhao Di. The two of them were completely different. Zhao Tian was enthusiastic and full of confidence, while Zhao Di appeared distracted. He seemed to have something on his mind, looking around as if searching for something.
Then, he left the hall and walked outside. I glanced at Su Wanqing, who nodded. She followed Zhao Di outside. I wanted to follow as well but considered that I shouldn't be too obvious, so I stayed behind. Su Wanqing trailed after Zhao Di and saw him walk into a corner where someone was standing. They exchanged a few words.
But because the distance was too far, Su Wanqing couldn't hear clearly. She only caught snippets of conversation. That person left. Zhao Di stayed outside. He lit a cigarette. Then, he made a phone call. Su Wanqing quietly moved a bit closer. She heard Zhao Di on the phone.
"How is the plan going?" Zhao Di asked.
"Oh, it's going fine," the other party replied.
"You need to seize the opportunity," Zhao Di emphasized.
"I know," the other party responded. "I will wait for the right moment."
"Alright," Zhao Di said before hanging up the phone. He took a deep drag from his cigarette. His expression was complicated, as if he was pondering something. Su Wanqing remembered these words. Zhao Di might not be as carefree as he appeared on the surface. He could have deeper plans and motives.
