In the café, I sat face to face with Su Wanqing.
Two cups of coffee sat on the table, steam swirling above them.
Despite the bustling crowd around us, filled with laughter and chatter, we felt an unprecedented calm within.
I looked at Su Wanqing and let out a soft sigh.
"Wanqing, I think there's something wrong with the strategy proposed by Attorney Zhang."
"The Zhao Family is not a monolith; there are innocent people involved."
"If we act according to his plan, we might sacrifice those innocent individuals."
"That goes against our principles."
Su Wanqing remained silent.
I knew she was also feeling hesitant inside.
After all, Attorney Zhang's plan carried too much risk and could lead us into an unethical situation.
I felt a bit restless.
I took a sip of coffee, trying to calm my mood.
But it was futile.
Attorney Zhang's plan loomed over me like a shadow that I couldn't shake off.
Su Wanqing looked at me and sighed softly.
"Jinxuan, I have an idea."
"Perhaps we can approach this problem from another angle."
I paused for a moment, looking at Su Wanqing.
"What idea?"
Su Wanqing pondered for a while before speaking slowly.
"Do you remember that conversation I accidentally overheard during the last gathering at the Zhao Family?"
I furrowed my brow.
"Which conversation?"
Su Wanqing looked at me, her expression serious.
"It was the conversation between Zhao Tian and Zhao Di's father right after Old Butler and another person spoke."
I tried to recall that conversation, but my memory was a bit hazy.
Su Wanqing looked at me and slowly began to speak.
"Old Butler said, 'I never expected that right after the old man passed away, they would cause such a ruckus.' The other person replied, 'Yeah, it's really unexpected.' Old Butler sighed and said, 'If the old man were still alive, he definitely wouldn't let them act out like this.' The other person didn't respond."
I fell silent for a moment, looking at Su Wanqing.
"Are you saying that there might be someone within the Zhao Family who is dissatisfied with Zhao Tian and Zhao Di?"
Su Wanqing nodded.
"Perhaps this conversation could serve as a breakthrough."
I fell into deep thought.
If Su Wanqing's guess is correct, then there might be cracks within the Zhao Family.
These cracks could be our opportunity to act.
I took a deep breath and looked at Su Wanqing.
"We need to identify the cracks within the Zhao Family and undermine this powerful enemy from within."
Su Wanqing nodded.
"We need to find the person who spoke with Old Butler; perhaps this person is dissatisfied with Zhao Tian and Zhao Di, and maybe he can become our breakthrough."
I nodded in agreement.
"I'll take care of this."
In the following days, I began to secretly reach out to other members of the Zhao Family.
These individuals were relatives or peripheral figures within the Zhao Family; their status was not high, but they knew some insider information about the family.
My goal was to establish connections with them and find someone willing to expose the truth about the Zhao Family.
Meanwhile, Su Wanqing was also searching for clues related to the Zhao Family within the art circle.
She hoped to find some clues to help us unravel the mystery of the Zhao Family. However, things did not go as smoothly as we imagined. The Zhao Family Brothers seemed to sense something and began to issue subtle warnings to us. Their monthly gatherings became the perfect opportunity for them to warn us.
"Miss Lin, Miss Su, this is a matter of our Zhao Family, and we do not wish for outsiders to interfere," Zhao Tian said. His words were polite but filled with threat. Zhao Di chimed in beside him, "Both of you are smart women; you wouldn't do something foolish, would you?"
