"What do you want to do to her?"
Shen Ci grabbed my wrist and pulled me behind him.
"I misunderstood; I just bumped into the wolf skeleton, and Teacher Yang helped me out."
I gently shook Shen Ci's sleeve, trying to ease the tense atmosphere.
Shen Ci wrapped his arm around my neck, leaning against me to assert his claim:
"This is my partner. Please maintain a sense of decorum when you encounter us in the future."
Yang Yi's fair and slender fingers delicately tapped as he fitted the last piece of bone together.
"I haven't received any notice about the younger members of the Wolf Clan holding a wedding ceremony.
Right now, you can only be considered a couple in the courtship stage; I still have a chance."
What does it mean to be a younger member of the Wolf Clan?
Could it be that Yang Yi is also a werewolf?
Shen Ci laughed in anger, his large hand gripping my waist and pulling me closer to him.
"Sorry, but we're in love; I advise someone not to overestimate themselves."
Yang Yi looked up, his gaze landing on me.
He reached out with his thumb to wipe away a mole on my face and smiled,
"Turns out it's fake. Besides, when it comes to feelings, who can say for sure, right?"
The tension in the office was growing thicker.
Shen Ci provocatively stepped in front of Yang Yi, grabbing his fingers and pinning them against the wall behind him.
In an instant, a cabinet opened.
Shen Ci picked up a bag of blue potion.
"I took this month's Inhibitor from our group."
He took my hand and strode toward the exit.
"Wait a minute."
I handed the wolf fur to Yang Yi.
"Professor Yang, could you please help compare these wolf hairs?"
As soon as we stepped out of the Research Institute, Shen Ci released my hand.
Wiping his clothes with some disdain, he warned, "Stay away from Yang Yi."
Shen Ci turned his head away, saying, "He's not a good person."
"What is an Inhibitor?"
Shen Ci paused for a moment.
"It's none of your business, so don't pry."
"Oh, then I'll ask Professor Yang."
He took one step, two steps, but hadn't taken the third step yet.
Shen Ci pressed down on my shoulder, looking both frustrated and helpless as he said, "To better integrate into human society, purebred werewolves need to inject Inhibitors every month."
"What happens if they don't inject the Inhibitor?"
"They won't be able to suppress their nature."
"Will they eat people?"
Shen Ci nodded seriously, affirming, "Yes."
Could Qin Shiwen's death be related to a werewolf who didn't take the Inhibitor? If that's the case, Yang Yi would be a great breakthrough point.
Lost in thought while walking forward, I suddenly bumped into Shen Ci's back.
My nose stung and tears welled up in my eyes.
"What are you doing?"
"Stay out of werewolf matters; the more you know, the more dangerous it becomes."
Shen Ci's beautiful fingers pinched the pendant on his chest.
I had already noticed the heavy metal necklace he wore around his neck. It was tucked under his clothes, revealing only half of it.
The sunlight hit the surrounding buildings while Shen Ci stood in the shadows. It turns out that some people can look cool just by standing there without doing anything.
"Once this storm passes, you'll be able to return to your normal life."
I nodded vigorously, my mind racing with thoughts on how to clarify this turmoil. I had fallen behind on a lot of assignments recently. I stayed up late to catch up on half a night's worth of homework. For the group project assigned by the teacher, I ended up in a group with those who were left behind. For the sake of my credits and GPA, I had to take the pre-course alone as well. After two days of rushing to catch up, I was terrified that one careless mistake would lead to my downfall.
Fortunately, there were two bird courses. The teacher put down his book and cleared his throat: "My son recently..." I received the signal and immediately fell asleep. When I woke up, there were no classmates around; the large lecture hall was left with just me. The setting sun streamed through the windows, casting a warm glow on the yellow desks and chairs, adding a touch of loneliness.
My nose tinged with sadness as I thought of Qin Shiwen. If only she were here... but there were no 'ifs.' I stretched lazily, feeling the ache in my bones, but at least my spirit was replenished. As I went downstairs, I happened to run into some classmates from another class who were just getting out.
"Hey, stop right there."
I continued walking.
"I said stop!"
I didn't even look up, thinking to myself who this princess was with such a bad temper. Suddenly, a foot landed against the wall in front of me.
"Are you deaf? Can't you hear?"
