Chapter Two: The Pocket Watch Clue
Li Wenbo and Li Tianyou stood on the street, surrounded by hurried pedestrians and the noisy sounds of traffic. Li Wenbo tried to explain everything modern, but Li Tianyou's brow was furrowed, clearly struggling to digest this sudden change.
"What... what an extraordinary sight!" Li Tianyou looked around, his eyes filled with disbelief. "Skyscrapers like forests, cars like rivers, people like ants... Is this the realm of immortals?"
Li Wenbo smiled wryly. "No, this is the modern world. We need to find the pocket watch; that's the key."
The two decided to return to Li Wenbo's place first, where there might be more clues. They navigated through the bustling crowd, and Li Wenbo occasionally glanced back, feeling as if someone was following them.
"Someone is watching us," Li Wenbo whispered.
Li Tianyou nodded, a glint of caution in his eyes. "I feel it too. We shouldn't linger here."
Back at Li Wenbo's apartment, the two began searching for possible clues. Li Wenbo opened his computer, trying to check the museum's surveillance footage, only to find that all the videos had mysteriously disappeared.
"This can't be..." Li Wenbo muttered to himself. Suddenly, his gaze fell upon an old photograph on the table—it was of his great-grandfather holding that very pocket watch.
"Wait, there's something on the back of this photo..." He flipped it over and discovered some strange symbols that seemed to correspond with the patterns on the pocket watch.
Just as they were studying the photograph, a breaking news alert interrupted the television broadcast: "Renowned scientist Dr. Zhang announced today that he has discovered a technology capable of changing history..."
Li Wenbo and Li Tianyou exchanged glances, both seeing shock reflected in each other's eyes. On the screen, Dr. Zhang held the pocket watch in the sunlight, gleaming brightly—it was indeed the one they had lost.
"What does this guy want with the pocket watch?" A chill ran down Li Wenbo's spine.
Suddenly, hurried footsteps echoed from outside. Li Wenbo and Li Tianyou quickly hid as several men in black burst into the room and began searching frantically.
"Hurry, they're coming after us!" Li Wenbo pulled Li Tianyou along as they escaped through the back door and jumped onto a passing bus.
The bus slowly pulled away, and as Li Wenbo looked back, he saw those men in black angrily shaking their fists. They knew this was just the beginning; Dr. Zhang's scheme was far more complicated than they had imagined.
On the bus, Li Wenbo noticed a young man curiously observing them. The young man's gaze lingered on Li Tianyou's battle attire for a moment before shifting to Li Wenbo.
"Do you... need help?" the young man asked, a peculiar light flickering in his eyes.
Li Wenbo hesitated for a moment before nodding. He had a feeling that this young man might become their new ally.
The bus drove toward an unknown destination, and the adventure of Li Wenbo and Li Tianyou was just beginning...
Chapter Three: Modern Adaptation
Inside the bus, Li Wenbo and Li Tianyou became the center of attention. Li Tianyou's ancient attire seemed out of place in the modern vehicle, drawing curious and surprised glances from the other passengers.
"How can this carriage move on its own?" Li Tianyou whispered, trying to keep his voice down, but his astonishment was evident.
Li Wenbo chuckled lightly. "This is called a bus, a modern mode of transportation. Don't worry; let's find a place to hide for now."
When the bus reached its final stop, the young man followed them off. He introduced himself as Zhao Min, a university student with a keen interest in ancient history.
"You... came from ancient times?" Zhao Min's eyes sparkled with excitement.
Li Wenbo nodded and briefly explained their situation. Upon hearing this, Zhao Min immediately offered to help.
"I have a place where you can stay temporarily," Zhao Min said enthusiastically.
Zhao Min's home was a cozy little nest where Li Wenbo and Li Tianyou found refuge for the time being. Li Tianyou was full of curiosity about everything modern and frequently asked about various electrical appliances.
"This is called a television; it allows you to see what’s happening far away," Zhao Min explained with a smile as he turned on the TV.
On the screen, Dr. Zhang's news report continued, each of his words tightening the nerves of the three.
With Zhao Min's assistance, they began to investigate the symbols behind that photograph. Zhao Min used his computer to search for the origins of these symbols.
"These symbols... seem to be some kind of code," Zhao Min said, furrowing his brow as his fingers flew over the keyboard.
Suddenly, a map appeared on the computer screen, marking a place they were familiar with—the museum.
"It seems that the secret of the pocket watch is hidden in the museum," a glimmer flashed in Li Wenbo's eyes.
Late at night, the three quietly arrived at the museum. Li Wenbo skillfully bypassed security and led Li Tianyou and Zhao Min to the original display location of the pocket watch.
"Something feels off here," Li Tianyou whispered, his intuition telling him that something was hidden.
Zhao Min took out a flashlight and illuminated the bottom of the display case. There, he found a small drawer that was hard to notice, containing a yellowed note.
The note had a series of numbers and several strange symbols, identical to those on the back of the photograph.
"Could these numbers be a code?" Li Wenbo speculated.
Zhao Min quickly took out his phone, entered the numbers, and a hidden application appeared on the screen, recording all of Dr. Zhang's plans and the true purpose of the pocket watch.
"Now we have a way to deal with Dr. Zhang," Li Wenbo said, gripping the note tightly, determination shining in his eyes.
However, just as they were about to leave, an alarm suddenly went off, illuminating the entire museum with flashing lights. It turned out that Dr. Zhang had anticipated their arrival and set a trap.
"Oh no, we've been discovered!" Zhao Min exclaimed.
Li Wenbo and Li Tianyou exchanged glances, knowing that a fierce battle was inevitable. They clutched their clues tightly, ready to face the challenges ahead...
