Explanation of the poem's meaning:
This poem, written by Tang Dynasty poet Liu Zongyuan, uses concise language to depict a tranquil scene of snow over the river and sky, expressing the poet's feelings of detachment from the world and his independent spirit.
"No birds fly over the thousand mountains": The poet describes how the traces of flying birds have disappeared among the continuous mountain ranges, with "disappear" suggesting an absence that creates a sense of emptiness and silence.
"No tracks of people on the many paths": There are no signs of people on countless small paths, with "extinct" emphasizing the rarity of human presence, further deepening the poem's atmosphere of solitude.
"A lonely old man in a straw raincoat on a solitary boat": In this vast snowy landscape, there is only an old man wearing a straw raincoat and hat; "solitary boat" and "straw hat old man" vividly portray his loneliness.
"Fishing alone in the cold river snow": The old man is fishing alone on the cold river surface covered with snow; "cold river snow" not only depicts the scene of snow on the river but also reflects the old man's transcendent and tranquil mindset.
Through the depiction of the snowy river scene, the poem conveys the poet's profound insights into nature and life philosophy. The language in this poem is concise yet rich in imagery, making it one of Liu Zongyuan's representative works.
Story Title: Liu Xiaoyuan's Adventure by the River
Winter has arrived in the small village, with thick white snow covering the ground, and everything is draped in white.
I put on my thick cotton coat and hat, preparing to go to the riverside with my grandfather to see the snow.
Grandpa's voice was warm and gentle: "Xiaoyuan, the snowy scenery by the river today will surely captivate you."
I nodded, filled with anticipation.
Grandpa and I set off towards the riverside.
Along the way, I curiously looked around, hoping to find something interesting in the village covered by thick white snow.
Grandpa smiled at me and said, "Xiaoyuan, there are many beautiful sights in nature that require careful searching. Just like today, we will see the river scenery in the snow, and it will be truly beautiful."
I nodded again, even more eager to see the view by the river.
After walking for a long time, we finally arrived at the riverside.
Seeing the scenery before me left me speechless with amazement.
The river surface had frozen over, crystal clear like a giant mirror reflecting the sunlight, dazzling to behold.
I had never seen such a sight; it completely exceeded my imagination.
Grandpa looked at my astonished expression and smiled slightly: "Xiaoyuan, this is the riverside in winter; isn't it beautiful?"
I nodded, my heart filled with excitement and joy.
Grandpa continued to tell me, "Although the riverside in winter is cold, it possesses a unique beauty. The reeds, water birds, and fishing boats have all endured the trials of winter and still stand tall. This is much like life; we must go through challenges to become stronger."
Grandpa and I walked through the snow, surrounded by silence.
Not far away, the hills and trees were covered in thick snow; not a single bird could be seen, nor even a shadow of a person.
I curiously glanced around as Liu Xiaoyuan tilted her head, her eyes constantly surveying the surroundings.
