On this quiet night, the sound of my zither became the only voice in the forest, as if I were confiding my inner world to nature. Moonlight streamed through the window, casting a silvery frost over my white robe. A gentle breeze swept by, causing the bamboo grove to sway softly, producing a rustling sound that seemed to accompany my music.
My thoughts drifted with the melody through the woods, as if flying toward the distant horizon. My zither's notes varied from soft and slow to urgent and passionate, like a mountain stream cleansing every corner of the soul. I felt the depth and mystery of nature, as well as the fleeting and insignificant nature of life. Yet, in this tranquil atmosphere, my heart became exceptionally peaceful, as if all worries had been carried away by the wind.
As night fell, I immersed myself in the world of music, enjoying the fusion with nature. I felt a sense of freedom and transcendence in my spirit, along with an appreciation for the beauty and preciousness of life. In this secluded bamboo grove, I found a space that belonged to me, becoming the master of my own life.
Suddenly, my zither fell silent, and the sound of my long sigh ceased as well. I heard footsteps approaching from outside the bamboo grove; I knew it was Li Han coming. He stood quietly there, unwilling to break this tranquility. Li Han entered the bamboo house with a deep sense of emotion and respect on his face. He approached me, and we exchanged a smile; our friendship and understanding needed no words.
I invited him to sit down, and we began to discuss literature and philosophy.
Our conversation was filled with wisdom and humor, occasionally interrupted by laughter. The atmosphere inside the bamboo house was warm and harmonious, while the moonlight outside bathed the bamboo forest, adding a touch of mystery and poetry to our exchange. Li Han shared his reflections on hearing my music and whistle from outside the bamboo grove; he felt a profound and distant sentiment, as if the music had cleansed his soul. I listened to his narration with a smile, knowing that this was the essence of a true soulmate.
We were immersed in a sea of thoughts and art, forgetting time and ourselves. In that moment, our souls connected, becoming one. As the night progressed, with the bright moon hanging high in the sky and its gentle light illuminating the earth, Li Han and I sat on the open ground in front of the bamboo house, sipping tea and discussing life. We were enveloped in this atmosphere, free from worldly distractions, only experiencing inner tranquility.
I shared my feelings about nature with Li Han, who found my descriptions filled with poetry and philosophy. "Whenever I step into nature, I can always sense its depth and infinity. Whether it's the gentle breeze in the mountains or the ripples in the stream, they all contain endless mysteries," I said. Li Han was deeply moved by my words; he told me, "Your detachment from worldly matters commands my respect. You have found your own peace amidst the complexities of life, which is a rare state."
In such an ambiance, I recited a new poem of mine titled "In the Bamboo Grove":
Sitting alone in the quiet bamboo,
Playing the lute and letting out a long whistle.
Deep in the forest where no one knows,
The bright moon comes to shine upon me.
This poem depicts a secluded hut in a tranquil bamboo grove and illustrates a hermit's harmonious coexistence with nature. Li Han was profoundly touched after hearing it; he told me, "This poem is truly a reflection of your real life."
"Your poetic talent is exceptional, and your attitude towards life is enviable."
This exchange has brought us closer together and strengthened my resolve to pursue inner peace.
My poem "Bamboo Lodge" quickly spread among scholars and literati,
becoming a symbol of the ideal of a reclusive life.
This poem was widely recited, and my name became more renowned among the people.
Many came seeking the bamboo grove and the bamboo house,
hoping to experience the idyllic life depicted in my poetry, reminiscent of a Peach Blossom Land.
The bamboo grove and bamboo house became a sacred place in people's hearts; they yearned to live a life free from worldly concerns, with a tranquil mind, just like mine.
As time passed, the bamboo grove and bamboo house gradually became symbols,
representing people's pursuit and longing for a beautiful life.
