“Master… save me… save me…” At this moment, the already somewhat dazed Brute suddenly cried out in despair. To his surprise, the old man who appeared was actually his Master.
“Ah, Jin Hui, my disciple, how did you end up like this? Who is so cruel?” The old man’s expression changed drastically upon seeing Brute’s miserable state. At this point, Brute was beyond saving; half of his Heart had already been destroyed. His entire body was flushed red, and with a light touch, a piece of Flesh fell off, blood gushing out continuously.
“Master… take revenge…” This Brute, named Jin Hui, had already lost consciousness; he uttered one last phrase before losing all breath. The spurting blood slowed down and eventually stopped. With his death, the Blood Slaughter Sword Technique’s Blood Slaughter Movement would also cease.
“Qingyi, let’s go.” Since the old man appeared, Ren Pingsheng felt a sense of threat; he had witnessed the power of a sect-level expert before and naturally understood their might. It was best to leave first. He swiftly moved, picking up the unconscious Yi Qingyi, then waved his hand to unleash a cloud of Blood Cloud, enveloping most of the martial artists present, and without looking back, he vanished.
“Ah… you thief! I will definitely kill you and tear you to pieces!” The old man roared, his aura surging; everything within a hundred feet trembled, and then with a loud explosion, it shattered. Those already mangled Corpses were further reduced to mere scraps of flesh.
The martial artists covered by the Blood Cloud that Ren Pingsheng had released as he left let out a series of wails, resembling those who had died earlier. In the midst of the explosion, they vanished into thin air. It could be seen as a release from their suffering; however, it was uncertain whether they would feel grateful in their hearts.
“Where do you think you’re running?” The old man retracted his aura and stepped into the air, gritting his teeth as he pursued the direction where Ren Pingsheng had disappeared. His only disciple had died just like that. The disciple he had high hopes for, whom he intended to rely on for further advancement in the One-Pin Hall, was gone. All his efforts over the past decade had come to nothing.
“Ren… Ren Brother, are you alright? You’re covered in blood!” The worried Yi Qingyi asked as she gently wiped away the blood on his face with her hands.
“Don’t worry; this is all enemy blood,” Ren Pingsheng replied calmly. “By the way, seeing me like this, are you still scared?”
“I’m not scared. No matter what Ren Brother becomes, you are still the best,” she said seriously while shaking her head.
“Hehe, as long as you’re not scared. These are all enemies; if you don’t kill them, they will kill you. Those five people we let go before brought so many bad people here, so we can’t be soft-hearted in the future, understand?”
“Yeah, those big bad guys will never be spared again.”
Ren Pingsheng nodded without saying more. He didn’t know if what he was doing was right or wrong, but to survive well, he had no choice but to act this way. She couldn’t stay by his side forever; having known each other for a while now, teaching her these principles was also a way to prepare her for the cruelty of this world.
After improving his cultivation level, his speed increased significantly; he was now almost at the level of a sect master. Within just a few minutes, they were already over a hundred miles away.
“Qingyi, stay up here and wait for me ahead. If there are others around, just leave on your own, alright?” After a while, Ren Pingsheng took out a Flying Vessel, placed Yi Qingyi onto it, and then equipped it with a Supreme Spirit Stone. With a wave of his hand, the Flying Vessel flew forward.
“Ren Brother, you must come back! I will wait for you,” she called out with tears in her eyes.
“Be careful; I’ll be back soon,” he said softly before turning around and heading back.
If he wanted to escape, he had a great chance, but with Yi Qingyi in tow, his speed was significantly reduced. Even with the Flying Vessel, it wouldn't be long before they were caught up. So now he would rather engage in a fierce battle. Although a sect-level expert was formidable, his current strength was not weak either.
"Hmph, you damn thing, why aren't you running?" Soon, the old man behind him caught up.
"Given your status, you must hold a significant position in One-Pin Hall, I assume you are at least an Elder," Ren Pingsheng said calmly, showing no signs of fear.
"I must admire your courage for daring to kill my One-Pin Hall disciples near Jiangzhou City, and even more so for killing my disciple. Truly audacious."
"Killing is killing; what can you do about it? Don't think I would show mercy even to you," he replied.
"Haha, you want to kill me? I don't know whether to call you brave or foolish. Don't worry; I will treat you well and won't let you die easily," he said with a sinister smile.
"Then let's see if you have that capability. Sect-level experts are impressive; I want to see for myself," Ren Pingsheng said nonchalantly. He had already learned from the Demon Emperor that this old man was an Intermediate sect-level expert. It wasn't particularly exaggerated; after all, the Great Chu Academy’s Lord Li and Li Yun he encountered back then were high-level sect experts, and he managed to get through that.
"Hehe... I'll let you see for yourself." With a cruel smile, he suddenly vanished and reappeared right in front of Ren Pingsheng, his Longsword gleaming coldly as it thrust toward Ren Pingsheng's chest.
"Clang clang..." Ren Pingsheng narrowed his eyes slightly as the Sky-Rending Sword was drawn instantly. His wrist flicked repeatedly, blocking the old man's attacks time and again, forcing him to retreat without success.
"Slash!" After ten exchanges, Ren Pingsheng seized an opportunity. The Sky-Rending Sword spun around, unleashing countless Sword Qi. Unfortunately, the old man merely looked surprised; with a slight tremor of his Longsword, it dissipated.
"Boom..." The two Longswords clashed again, kicking up a cloud of dust. Ren Pingsheng involuntarily took a step back before stabilizing himself. His strength was still quite inferior compared to an Intermediate sect-level expert.
"Very good; your strength is impressive, but this is where it ends. Now let me show you the true power of a sect-level expert." His expression turned solemn as his aura surged by threefold. The immense pressure made him feel somewhat uncomfortable.
The Demon Emperor had once told him that there were three requirements to become a sect-level expert. First, one must comprehend 'Momentum' and reach mastery in it. Second, one must grasp the Artistic Conception, which also needs to be mastered. Thirdly, one's cultivation must reach a certain level.
Only by achieving all three aspects could one become a sect-level expert. This meant that the old man's strength was at least at mastery level in both Artistic Conception and momentum; he might even possess a self-created martial technique. If he was serious, Ren Pingsheng naturally had to be cautious since his own strength was much weaker.
"Try my self-created Sword Technique, Flame Explosion!” He chuckled sinisterly and swung his sword down; the entire world trembled as if a volcano erupted within a hundred feet radius, causing violent explosions everywhere. Ren Pingsheng was right at the forefront of this attack and was forced to retreat under the onslaught of the perfected Fire Realm.
"Poof..." Despite blocking most of the explosions, some still hit him. Fortunately, at the last moment, he activated his full power in the Thousand Silk Armor, minimizing the damage; however, he still sustained significant injuries.
"I can't just sit here and wait for death!" Gritting his teeth, he unleashed his Sword Momentum, causing attacks within several dozen feet to stall momentarily. Seizing this opportunity, he flashed forward without hesitation; the Sky-Rending Sword slashed down toward the old man like a descending Blood Cloud.
"Hmm, nearly sixty percent of Sword Momentum. Not bad power, but unfortunately not enough to deal with me." The old man was somewhat surprised but swiftly dodged the binding attack. However, just as he intended to make a move, he saw a mass of Blood Cloud descending upon him and felt something unusual within his body. His blood surged restlessly as its temperature began to rise; he immediately recalled the horrific state of his disciple he had seen earlier.
At that moment, a chill ran through his heart, and he dared not move. He immediately activated True Essence to suppress the anomaly within his body, but Ren Pingsheng would not let such an opportunity slip away, and he swung his sword again.
This strike was the second form of the Soul Chasing Sword Technique, known as Soul Pursuit Kill. Its attack carried a Soul component, so when it struck a martial artist, it inflicted both mental and physical damage.
"Slash!" Ren Pingsheng roared, and a pitch-black Sword Light flashed by. However, the old man was not slow; he swung his Longsword to intercept the Sword Light. Nevertheless, his movement faltered for a moment, indicating that he had still been affected by the Soul attack. It seemed minor, though, as he recovered in just a breath.
"Ah, seeking death!" He felt a sharp pain in his mind and immediately shouted in anger. Even though this attack method was somewhat strange, being hit twice made him furious. He suppressed the anomaly within him, and his aura surged outward.
"Damn it, this is the perfected Sword Momentum." Ren Pingsheng felt as if he were trapped in quicksand; even standing still was incredibly difficult, requiring tenfold or even a hundredfold more effort than usual.
"Ah..." A Sword Light slashed toward him. His hand trembled as he attempted to block it, but his movements couldn't keep up at all, and he was sent flying. He was then buried under countless Sword Qi; the overwhelming pain made him unable to suppress a cry.
"Slash!" He roared in anger, enduring the pain as he unleashed his Sword Momentum without hesitation to counteract the massive Sword Momentum from his surroundings. To some extent, this alleviated his constraints, but he could only maintain this freedom within a yard's distance. The Sword Momentum was suppressed and could only hold at this level.
As he burst through the Sword Qi, his figure flickered, and Ninefold Phantom Body appeared just in time to evade the old man's attack. The fierce Sword Qi struck only a Phantom Body. Ren Pingsheng had already reappeared on the other side.
"Heavenly Sword Style, kill!" He disregarded True Qi and Demonic Energy entirely and directly used Demonic Energy to activate Heavenly Sword Second Style. Fifty-five percent of his Sword Momentum was fully infused into this strike.
With one slash, the entire world fell silent for a moment. The old man's movement paused, but that was enough. The Heavenly Sword Style possessed unparalleled speed and arrived in an instant.
"Bang... ah..." The old man barely managed to dodge most of the strike but was still sent flying ten yards away by the Sword Qi. His left arm bore a deep wound that bled profusely.
