"Truly impressive, a master of the Xuanjian Sect, able to evade such a sudden strike," Ren Pingsheng said solemnly. The Sword Momentum that had erupted just now was even deeper than his own. Otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to break free from the bindings in time to avoid it.
These disciples from major sects should not be underestimated. Their understanding of Intent Sword Aura was no less than his, and the key was that their cultivation levels were higher than his. The opponent had shown some underestimation earlier; continuing the battle could yield unpredictable results. However, with the Thousand Silk Armor on him, he felt no real concern.
"Ha... your strength is impressive. I admit I underestimated you just now. I won't hold back from here on," Yun Xingzi said calmly as he regained his composure.
"Well then, I won't hold back either. You'd better be careful," he replied with a light smile, knowing that the real battle was about to begin.
"Is that so? I hope you can handle it!" As soon as he finished speaking, his figure suddenly vanished and reappeared in front of Ren Pingsheng, wielding his sword and striking downwards. Ren Pingsheng swiftly dodged to the side, but Yun Xingzi followed up with a horizontal sweep. A flicker of surprise crossed Ren Pingsheng's eyes; this was likely a very coherent series of moves with subsequent attacks. He lightly jumped back, and sure enough, a diagonal thrust came at him like a startling rainbow.
The fluidity of these three consecutive moves could catch an ordinary person off guard and potentially injure them. However, Ren Pingsheng remained calm; the Azure Wind Sword suddenly unsheathed and swiftly blocked Yun Xingzi's upward thrust with his longsword. Then, with a gentle shake, he elevated himself again and evaded the attack.
"Foolish! Slash!" Yun Xingzi sneered in surprise, swinging his sword in a diagonal slash. Dozens of fiery Sword Qi surged towards Ren Pingsheng, who was suspended in mid-air. Warriors in the Warrior Realm cannot fly; thus, being airborne leaves them with no leverage to dodge, making it both slow and dangerous.
"Oh, Fire Realm?" Ren Pingsheng exclaimed in surprise while suspended in mid-air. It seemed Yun Xingzi had also comprehended a second Artistic Conception, and it looked quite profound. Although the Sword Qi had not yet reached him, the flames emanating from it heated the air around him to an uncomfortable degree, creating a sensation akin to being in a Fire Sea.
"Unfortunately, this won't work on me!" He paused briefly and stepped lightly forward. He moved gracefully through the dozens of Sword Qi as if he were climbing stairs—each step appeared effortless and free-flowing without any awkwardness. The Azure Wind accompanied him, dissipating the swirling flames completely.
"Hiss... Wind Realm? He has actually comprehended two Artistic Conceptions." At this moment, even a fool could see that only Wind Realm could allow someone who couldn't fly to move so elegantly in mid-air, even granting short-distance flight and walking on air capabilities.
"Golden Realm and Wind Realm? Which faction do you belong to? Why have I never heard of you before?" Even Yun Xingzi began to feel unsettled. From every aspect of Ren Pingsheng's performance, he was not inferior; in fact, he seemed superior.
He was one of the top five geniuses of the Xuanjian Sect; if someone could rival him in talent, it must be someone nurtured by another major faction in secret. This person had only emerged due to the Sword King Tomb.
"I don't belong to any faction; I only belong to myself," Ren Pingsheng replied honestly. Everything that had happened today was earned through his own hard work bit by bit. Perhaps his sect provided him with a foundation, but without his efforts, none of this would have come to pass.
"I see. I have one final move left; if you can withstand it, we can consider today's matter settled. How about that?" Yun Xingzi proposed after some thought.
"Sure, I have no prejudice against your Xuanjian Sect," he nodded lightly. After all, the Xuanjian Sect was indeed a dominant force in Snow State; avoiding offense would naturally be best.
"Good! Then be careful." He warned as flames danced upon his longsword. This time it was even more exaggerated; the entire sky turned fiery red as the temperature rose continuously, leaving people parched and dry. Countless flames ultimately converged into a Fire Dragon that lunged forward with claws outstretched. The entire sky seemed to boil with its movements as flying flames transformed into longswords that followed suit in attack.
"Fifty percent Fire Realm—impressive! This Yun Xingzi is indeed a genius." Ren Pingsheng felt as if his body were about to ignite; even his hair felt singed. His expression grew serious; this Yun Xingzi was undoubtedly a formidable opponent. If it came down to a fight, he wasn't entirely confident he could win.
“Storm Rising! Slash!” He shouted lightly, and within a hundred feet, everything turned gray, as if shrouded in a layer of Cloud Mist, making it difficult to discern direction. Countless Wind Blades darted through the Cloud Mist, densely packed, each Wind Blade incredibly swift and sharp.
The howling Fire Dragon and Flame Sword collided chaotically under the cover of the Cloud Mist. Countless Wind Blades attacked like sharks sensing blood, striking furiously.
All that could be heard were the continuous ‘bang’ sounds echoing from within the Cloud Mist. The Cloud Mist billowed and rolled, as the Fire Dragon and the Flame Sword gradually extinguished under the assault of the Wind Blades. Finally, a gust of Azure Wind swept by, dissipating all the Cloud Mist. The two leaders were surprisingly evenly matched.
However, Yun Xingzi’s expression was somewhat bitter because he realized that Ren Pingsheng had actually comprehended the Cloud Realm, which represented three types of Artistic Conception. This was one more than he had grasped, leaving him, a genius from the Xuanjian Sect, feeling somewhat dejected and discouraged.
“Your strength is impressive; let’s call it a day for this matter!” He smiled at Ren Pingsheng, acknowledging that such a genius could rank among the top three in their Xuanjian Sect. It would be unwise to offend someone like him over a disciple who was already dead and of no value.
“Alright!” Ren Pingsheng nodded, ignoring the astonishment of the five sect masters. He had just noticed a familiar figure flash by in the distance, stirring his heart.
“I have some matters to attend to; I’ll take my leave now.” He said this and turned to walk away.
“Don’t run, kid! Let’s have a match first!” Cheng Batian suddenly broke away from his battle with Situ Kong. Their strengths were evenly matched, neither able to gain an advantage over the other. His gaze immediately shifted back to Ren Pingsheng, as for him, battling different experts was an enjoyable experience.
“No time!” Ren Pingsheng replied from a distance before vanishing in a flicker.
“No way! You won’t get to rest until we’ve fought!” He roared angrily and chased after him. Situ Kong merely glanced at them, sheathing his sword without pursuing further.
Although Chu Yanran had significantly improved her strength, she still ranked among the weakest in this group. After entering the Inheritance Tower, she had only passed the first trial and then lost her ability to exert power. Naturally, she did not obtain any Heritage, but she did acquire some other treasures.
Later, after exiting the Inheritance Tower, she saw many people fighting over the Inheritance Seed. Unfortunately, her strength was insufficient, so she had no choice but to retreat. Ultimately, she left this place of chaos, planning to see if there were any adventures elsewhere, which seemed better than staying here.
Earlier, she felt the ground tremble and saw mist swirling in the air from afar. She also witnessed many martial artists becoming victims under swords. Although she knew this was an extraordinary opportunity, she was self-aware enough not to approach. Later, she spotted Ren Pingsheng, but felt unsure about how to interact with him and merely watched from a distance.
“Yanran, it really is you. I hadn’t seen you for a while and was worried; I’m glad you’re okay.” Ren Pingsheng moved quickly and caught up within minutes.
Chu Yanran paused; she hadn’t expected him to find her but turned around anyway. “I was trapped behind; by the time I got here, you all had already entered.”
“As long as you’re fine. I’ve said before that I would handle matters regarding the Heritage. But it seems you’ve done well; your cultivation has surpassed mine.” He said with some surprise.
“Yes, but there are too many powerful people around; I didn’t even catch a glimpse of the Heritage before being teleported out.”
"Ha ha, it's nothing. Look at this." Ren Pingsheng flipped his hand, and a green Inheritance Seed appeared in his palm.
"This is... could it be?" Chu Yanran lightly covered her mouth, asking in surprise, her cheeks flushed with excitement. Her eyes were wide open, not blinking.
"That's right, this is the Inheritance Seed, and it's of the Wood Attribute. This Inheritance Seed works best for those who cultivate the same attribute's techniques," he explained.
"This thing is so small, how does it work for Heritage?" Her eyes lit up completely; this was the King-Level Expert's Inheritance Seed. This was what she had been desperately searching for.
"It's simple. Just leave a Soul imprint on the seed, and it will automatically flow into your body," Ren Pingsheng said with a smile, showing no signs of concealment. Then he added gently, "With this, I believe your father won't stop us from being together anymore! I'll leave this Inheritance Seed with you to keep safe, and after we return, we'll give it to your father."
"Ren Brother, are you really giving it to me? This is a King-Level Inheritance seed!" Chu Yanran asked somewhat flustered, but her eyes were fixed on it.
"Of course. I will reach the King-Level Expert status sooner or later. No, we will both reach it eventually. You have to believe me; even without this thing, at most in a hundred years, we will definitely become King-Level Experts. Moreover, this thing has some side effects. Even if we become King-Level Experts, trying to break through later could actually become an obstacle and be much harder than for others."
"Kid, where have you run off to? Come out quickly! Let's fight three hundred rounds!" A powerful voice echoed from afar.
"They actually caught up. Yanran, keep this safe. The Sword King Tomb is already empty; there are no treasures left. You go outside and wait for me. I'll deal with this guy first," Ren Pingsheng said as he took her hand and placed the Inheritance Seed in her palm.
"Ren Brother, since someone is chasing you, let's leave together," Chu Yanran said softly as she grasped his hand tightly.
"Ha ha, don't worry; he can't do anything to me. You hurry and leave; wait for me outside." He gently patted her hand with a warm smile before his figure flickered and disappeared.
