The sky was beginning to lighten, and a biting cold wind gently blew. In the distance, a smell of blood wafted through the air; countless lives had been lost in this desolate wilderness during the night.
Ren Pingsheng descended from the tree where he had been hiding. After emerging from the forest, he climbed a small hill nearly a hundred meters high and saw a city standing on the horizon.
"That must be Cloud Hidden City. It looks to be about half an hour's journey away, but I fear this road won't be peaceful," he thought, recalling the madness of the previous night. Even he couldn't help but sigh; these people were truly insane.
On the way to Cloud Hidden City, people hurried past him from time to time. They all possessed Martial Mastery, but their faces were grim, suggesting they had endured quite a lot on their journey.
After just a moment, Ren Pingsheng had to stop because he was blocked by someone ahead. Many others were also stopped like him, but they were all furious yet dared not act too recklessly.
The ones blocking them were five individuals, all at the Perfected Realm Martial Artist level. Among those who were stopped, most had high-level Martial Master cultivation, with only three at the Perfected Realm Martial Artist level. No wonder they were behaving this way.
"Listen up, quickly take out your Spatial Bracelets for us Five Brothers to check. As long as you don't have a Sword King Order on you, we will let you pass and won't covet your belongings," one of them stepped forward and said with a smile.
"Why should we let you check? Don't listen to him, everyone! With so many of us, we can definitely rush past!" someone in the crowd shouted loudly.
"Hmph, refusing a toast only to drink a forfeit. Let's see who you really are!" One of the five snorted angrily and moved beside that person. With a swing of his Longsword, terrifying waves of energy surged forth. Unfortunately for the one who spoke up, despite being a high-level Martial Master, he was killed with just one strike.
"Hmph, is there anyone else who dares to defy us? We Five Brothers will accompany you to the end."
"Oh really? Let me see what abilities you five possess." Suddenly, a figure appeared from behind; though he hadn't arrived yet, his voice had already reached them. It was a man dressed in white robes, charming and distinguished.
"It seems we have another who isn't afraid of trouble; I'll accommodate you." The man who had just attacked stepped forward to launch an assault. The White-Clad Man merely smiled lightly and extended his hand; the attacker felt a blur before him and was sent flying with a single palm strike, landing heavily and severely injured.
"Third Brother, are you alright?" The remaining Four Brothers' expressions changed as they realized this was a formidable opponent and dared not let their guard down. The four of them attacked simultaneously without holding back.
"Hmph, just a Local Chicken and Tile Dog, get lost!" The aura he exuded made everyone in the Surroundings feel as if they were carrying a mountain on their backs, unable to breathe. The Five Brothers were in the same state; before they could even react, they were all sent flying, severely injured.
"Indeed, not worthy of the stage. Is the Sword King Order something you can possess?" The White-Clad Man said with a light laugh, his figure flashing away into the distance.
"Wow... another expert. He's the first person I've seen who understands 'momentum'," Ren Pingsheng thought as he watched the White-Clad Man disappear, mentally labeling him as a formidable rival.
"This is normal. The opponents you encounter now are all geniuses from various forces in Snow State, not something a single Great Chu Academy can compare to. There will be more powerful individuals," the Demon Emperor said with a knowing smile.
"Yes, these top geniuses from the various forces in Snow State are indeed my opponents. I will defeat them all," he said softly, then without looking at the five severely injured individuals, he headed towards Cloud Hidden City. That place would be where talents gathered and competed fiercely.
During the half-hour journey, Ren Pingsheng encountered several battles every few minutes. Some people were also lurking nearby, ready to take advantage. Fortunately, many overlooked him due to his Beginner Martial Artist Realm cultivation and did not consider him a threat with the Sword King Order, allowing him to reach Cloud Hidden City safely.
However, luck is hard to grasp. In the end, Ren Pingsheng was stopped outside Cloud Hidden City.
"Kid, if you want to enter the city, you must be searched first," a Brute said mercilessly from not far away, flanked by two accomplices. The Brute was of high-level Martial Mastery, while the other two were of Intermediate Martial Mastery. Perhaps seeing Ren Pingsheng's cultivation level made them think he was easy to bully.
"Get out of my way; you've got the wrong person," Ren Pingsheng had no intention of chatting with them. He had previously pretended to comply with others to avoid alarming them. Now that he was at the city gate, he had no more concerns.
"Kid, you're looking for death!" The Brute's face darkened as he lunged forward, his large knife gleaming coldly. Many in the Surroundings were watching but no one stepped in to help.
"What a pity!" Ren Pingsheng sighed lightly and took a step forward; the Azure Wind Sword flashed past. Many didn't see what happened clearly; they only felt a blur before their eyes. The Brute fell down with a look of terror on his face. He was killed in one strike, partly due to his underestimation of his opponent and partly because of Ren Pingsheng's overwhelming strength.
With one step, Ren Pingsheng walked through the city gate without looking back, as if what had just happened was insignificant.
"Sigh... what a terrifying guy; it seems that Cloud Hidden City is going to get lively again," many onlookers sighed. However, many became cautious, fearing they might provoke someone powerful and end up like this Brute.
"Interesting. Wei Xianzi, do you know which force has secretly nurtured this genius?" Two people stepped forward from the side; one of them was a man with Perfected Realm Martial Artist cultivation who asked with a smile.
"You don't know, how would I know? However, he is still a notch below us. His cultivation level is too low," said the man known as Wei Xianzi dismissively. "Alright, let's go. Your people from the Xuanjian Sect are probably already here."
"Well then, I wonder if your people from Tianxue Villa have arrived. I heard that you brought a genius this time," Yun Xingzi asked with interest.
"You will meet him," the two of them entered Cloud Hidden City one after the other.
Cloud Hidden City is a second-tier city located within the Great Jin Dynasty. Originally, it could only be considered an ordinary city, but due to the Sword King Tomb, it transformed into one of the most prominent cities in the Great Jin Dynasty, second only to the capital. Especially every time the Sword King Tomb opens, it becomes even more prosperous. Various rare materials from Snow State circulate here.
"The prosperity here is no less than that of Nanyun City," Ren Pingsheng remarked in astonishment after entering the city. This was the most bustling city he had seen aside from Great Chu Royal City and Nanyun City.
However, the martial artists here had a higher level of cultivation; visibly, more than half were Martial Mastery practitioners. Perhaps they were all attracted by the Sword King Tomb; even if their hopes were slim, they still came to try their luck. Who knows, they might stumble upon a Sword King Order on their way.
At an inn, Ren Pingsheng booked a room as he planned to stay here for a month. He was waiting for the opening of the Sword King Tomb, and some holders of the Sword King Order would gradually arrive.
"Hurry up! Hurry up! There's another duel at the Dueling Platform! I heard they're betting with the Sword King Order!" Upon hearing the whispers of two men who had already walked far away, Ren Pingsheng was immediately startled.
Betting with the Sword King Order was indeed crazy. This piqued his interest in this reckless fellow. He turned around and headed towards the central Dueling Platform. Along the way, he saw many martial artists doing the same thing as him.
After a quarter of an hour, Ren Pingsheng finally saw that reckless fellow. He saw him currently fighting on the Dueling Platform. Both sides were Perfected Realm Martial Artists, and at first glance, it seemed evenly matched. However, Ren Pingsheng still noticed the gap between them.
"Your strength is not bad, but you're not my opponent. Get down!" The Brute on stage snorted lightly, twirling his long knife as countless blade lights swept across the entire Dueling Platform. His opponent managed to block a few strikes before being swept off.
"Haha, is there anyone else? The Sword King Order is in my hands; come and take it if you have what it takes," this Brute laughed loudly, appearing wild and unrestrained.
"Let me challenge you from Great Jin Dynasty Reserve Fund; I want your Sword King Order," a man jumped onto the Dueling Platform with a confident smile.
"I don't care which dynasty you're from; if you want it, show your strength. As long as you defeat me, it's yours." The Sword King Order he waved in his hand immediately attracted everyone's attention; most of them did not possess a Sword King Order. Their eyes turned red with envy, wishing they could snatch it right away.
"Hmph, then I'll defeat you and make you obediently call it out." A spark of excitement flashed in Chu Jin's eyes as he drew his sword and immediately launched an attack. Waves of sword energy poured down as he moved.
"Child's play!" The burly man swept his long knife, shattering all the approaching sword energy, then stepped forward, slashing diagonally towards Chu Jin's chest with a chilling gleam.
"Clang..." The clash of blades caused Chu Jin to retreat half a step, but the burly man's stance remained unchanged. He would not let this opportunity slip by; with a flick of his long knife, several beams of light surged forth with immense power and coldness. The temperature on the Dueling Platform dropped several degrees without anyone noticing.
"Water Realm? No, it should be a mutated Ice Realm." Ren Pingsheng below the platform was surprised. He hadn't expected that the burly man had comprehended such an Artistic Conception.
Chu Jin's expression changed as he blocked with his long sword, but was instantly eroded by the cold air, slowing his movements. Then he was struck by the burly man's following long knife.
"It seems you won't be getting that Sword King's token." The burly man grinned at Chu Jin, who was spitting blood and falling off the Dueling Platform.
Chu Jin's expression shifted, but he said nothing and turned to leave in anger.
"I say, Cheng Batian, are you just here to pass the time? Your strength is at the peak of the Martial Master realm; how could these guys compare?" A voice called out from afar as a figure suddenly appeared on the Dueling Platform.
"Haha, Qiu Yingjie, it's you! Are you here to compete as well? Your strength would certainly allow me to have a good fight." The burly man named Cheng Batian immediately asked excitedly.
"I'm not interested in competing with a battle maniac like you. Zuo Qingcang said he has something to discuss with us; let's hurry over!" Qiu Yingjie shrugged and disappeared after delivering the message.
"What does that kid Zuo Qingcang want?" Cheng Batian muttered to himself before quickly leaving as well, though a voice echoed back: "I have something for now; we'll continue in a couple of days!"
