Without the Black Demon Horse, Ren Pingsheng could only rely on his two legs to travel. Fortunately, his speed was not slow; it just meant he would take a bit longer. Moreover, he had already left the territory of the Yunxing Sect, so he didn't have to worry about them chasing after him.
"Ren Pingsheng, where are you going? Why are you alone?" Situ Kong asked curiously along the way.
"I'm just out for some travel and planning to visit the Great Chu Academy," Ren Pingsheng replied without turning his head.
"How did you end up being chased? Did you offend someone from the Yunxing Sect?"
"Uh... sort of. I killed one of their Elders, and they've been chasing me ever since."
"Why did you kill their Elder? It must have been for a reason, right?"
"Because his disciple died at my hands. He came for revenge but ended up losing his own life instead. Sigh, why do you have so many questions? You sound like a woman nagging," Ren Pingsheng shot him a glare.
"Haha... I'm just curious. I see your strength isn't weak, so I wanted to know more. Besides, we're friends now, right? It's not strange to understand each other's backgrounds," Situ Kong said with a silly grin, looking quite honest.
"Background? You're overthinking it. I'm just an ordinary disciple of the Azure Wind Sword Sect, preparing to go to the Great Chu Academy. What about you? Tell me about yourself! I doubt you came here for no reason."
"This is a long story. How about we find a place to chat slowly? I'm quite hungry," Situ Kong suggested.
"Uh... there's no village or inn around here. Where can we go? We'll have to handle it ourselves." Ren Pingsheng had spent the day mostly on the run, and now that it was getting late, he was already quite hungry.
"Alright, wait here." Situ Kong cheerfully walked away and soon returned with a large wild boar.
Ren Pingsheng had everything ready and quickly prepared it before roasting it over the fire. The crackling sound of flames mixed with the delicious aroma of roasted wild boar filled the air.
Before long, it was ready, exuding a rich aroma. Watching nearby, Situ Kong, who had long been drooling, couldn't wait to tear off a wild boar leg and started gnawing on it without caring about the heat. Ren Pingsheng shook his head at the sight; this guy was not only hot-tempered and rough but also had terrible table manners.
"Hey, you ungrateful guy! You only think about enjoying yourself when there's wine," Situ Kong shouted in dissatisfaction as he saw Ren Pingsheng eating meat and drinking wine. He stood up and tried to snatch it away.
"Cough, cough... Here, take it," Ren Pingsheng said, startled by him and nearly choking. With a helpless expression, he tossed the wine gourd to him. He gained a further understanding of this guy.
"Ah, good wine, good wine," Situ Kong exclaimed as he tilted his head back and took several gulps, his face slightly flushed.
"Alright, now that we have food and drink, let's talk!"
"Since you are so attentive to me, I’ll share a bit! I came from Xiangzhou; I'm not one of your Snow State people." Situ Kong wiped the wine stains from the corner of his mouth and spoke in a mysterious tone.
"Xiangzhou? You came all the way here; you must have some purpose," Ren Pingsheng said, his eyes flashing as if he thought of something.
"Hehe... you guessed right. I do have a purpose for coming this time. By the way, have you heard of the Sword King Tomb?"
"Sword King Tomb? I know a bit about it. Are you here for the Sword King Tomb?"
When Ren Pingsheng obtained the Sword King Order from the Disciples of the Evil Sect, he specifically looked into some information about the Sword King Tomb. Although not particularly detailed, he had a general understanding of it. It could be said to be a secret realm; however, what was most important there was not the treasures or Elixirs but rather the Sword King Inheritance within.
As long as one could obtain a portion of the Sword King Inheritance, it would be equivalent to reaching great heights in one leap. As long as one wasn't foolish and their talent wasn't at rock bottom, there was at least a fifty percent chance of becoming a King-Level Expert. If they had better talent and were determined individuals, obtaining such an inheritance would almost guarantee them becoming a King-Level Expert.
"That's right; I'm specifically here for the Sword King Tomb." Situ Kong said with his mouth full, making his words somewhat unclear. "I got news that the Sword King Tomb will open in two years. This is an opportunity to become a King-Level Expert; naturally, I want to try my luck."
"It opens in two years? I really didn't know that. Can everyone enter? Or are there any conditions?" Ren Pingsheng asked tentatively as his mind stirred.
"What do you think the Sword King Tomb is? To enter, you must have the Sword King Order and your cultivation cannot exceed Supreme Expert. If you can't meet these two requirements, no one can enter."
“Supreme Expert What is your cultivation level? I see. So you came here to look for something related to the Sword King Order?”
“Oh, I didn't expect your mind to be quite sharp. I did come here specifically to find the Sword King Order. I heard that two years ago, a disciple from the Evil Sect was chasing a Loose Practitioner who possessed a Sword King Order, and then they disappeared without a trace. So this time, I came here hoping to encounter that Sword King Order.”
“Ha ha, so what was the result? Did you find anything?” Ren Pingsheng chuckled lightly, lowering his head to fiddle with the flames, concealing the surprise in his eyes. He didn't expect this news to have spread. Although no one knew he was the culprit, it wasn't good news for him.
“Sigh, don’t mention it. I've been wandering around here for three or four months and haven't found a single clue. It seems I'll have to find another way.” Situ Kong slapped his thigh and said with some frustration.
“Oh, are there other places where the Sword King Order might appear? I would also like to see this Sword King Inheritance. If I could get my hands on a Sword King Order, that wouldn't be bad.”
“Ahem… you can forget about that. Those who possess a Sword King Order are all tight-lipped, afraid that others will find out and bring about their own demise.”
“That’s true; it seems I don’t have that kind of luck. Forget it, let’s just rest here tonight!” Ren Pingsheng finished the food in his hands and lay back on the grass, expressing some sentiment.
“Hehe, such things are indeed hard to come by. If you're lucky, you might stumble upon one just by going out; if you're not lucky, even turning the Snow State Land upside down might not yield results.” Situ Kong took a hearty bite of wild boar meat, looking somewhat gloomy.
“Uh… no more wine, what bad luck. Do you have any left?” He shook his wine jug and then turned his gaze toward Ren Pingsheng, who was lying on the grass, asking with some anticipation.
“None left; I gave you the last jug.”
“Forget it then; without wine, I have no appetite.”
The two lay on the ground in silence for a while. Ren Pingsheng looked at the stars in the sky, lost in thought. He was contemplating what Situ Kong had said about the Sword King Tomb. He currently possessed a Sword King Order. Perhaps no one would expect that over two years ago, that very Sword King Order had ultimately fallen into his hands.
The night was quiet, with a gentle breeze blowing and the sounds of insects chirping in succession.
“Ah…” Suddenly, a scream pierced through the night sky, cutting through the tranquility with an ear-piercing sound.
Ren Pingsheng reacted quickly, getting up and immediately extinguishing the still-burning fire. Then he looked warily in the direction from which the screams were coming.
Situ Kong was not slow to react either, almost getting up at the same time as Ren Pingsheng. His eyes sparkled with intensity, showing no signs of sleepiness.
"From the sound, it should be about two miles away. Let's go take a look," Ren Pingsheng said, and with a slight movement, he disappeared into the night. Situ Kong's eyes flashed, and he immediately followed.
This distance was just a few breaths for them. Soon, the two saw everything before them: two Mid-Level Warriors were chasing a Beginner Warrior.
"Please spare my life! If you let me go, I will tell you about the Sword King Order," the pursued Beginner Warrior pleaded, already severely injured and looking desperate.
Ren Pingsheng and Situ Kong exchanged glances involuntarily. They had been discussing this very topic not long ago, and now they encountered it immediately.
"Alright, as long as you tell us everything you know, I promise not to kill you," one of the Mid-Level Warriors interjected.
"I'll tell you. The Sword King Order is in the hands of a Loose Practitioner. He is hiding in Skywind City of the Great Qin Dynasty."
"Skywind City? It seems he isn't lying; I heard the same from another source," the other Mid-Level Warrior nodded. "In that case, you can die now."
"Ah, you... you said you would spare me!"
"Hmph, that was what he said; I never promised to let you go," sneered another Intermediate Warrior, and with a single sword strike, he ended the life of the low-level warrior.
"We should leave quickly; others might get wind of this," the two hurriedly departed, completely unaware that someone nearby had witnessed everything clearly.
The night returned to calmness, with a faint scent of blood drifting in the wind.
"Hehe... who would have thought? After searching for several months without any news of the Sword King Order, it would appear just like this," Situ Kong chuckled inexplicably.
Ren Pingsheng remained silent, lost in thought.
"I'm going to Skywind City. Do you want to come with me?"
"Hehe, aren't you afraid that I might compete with you then? You might not be able to outdo me; will you regret it later?" Ren Pingsheng chuckled lightly.
"What does it matter? It's a fair competition. Besides, even if you don't go, there will still be plenty of competitors."
"Forget it. Skywind City is too far away. A round trip will take at least half a year, and I still need to get to Great Chu Academy. I don't have that much time."
"That's a pity. This is the Sword King Inheritance. It’s hard to come by, and you should think it over," Situ Kong said enticingly.
"You tempting me won't work. Right now, improving my strength is the most important thing. Otherwise, with my current abilities, even if I enter the Sword King Tomb, I'll just be at the bottom and surely meet a tragic fate," Ren Pingsheng shook his head and found an excuse to refuse. More importantly, he had a Sword King Order in his possession, so there was no need to take risks.
"Uh... fine! Then we'll part ways here and hope to meet again someday. And thank you for the drink; next time it's on me." Situ Kong clasped his fist and hurried off in the direction they had come from.
"Sword King Order, Sword King Tomb, Sword King Inheritance." Ren Pingsheng touched the Spatial Ring hanging on his chest, his mind racing with thoughts. He also confirmed the number on the Sword King Order, which represented time.
When he first obtained the Sword King Order, it showed fifty-four, representing fifty-four months. That is four and a half years; now two and a half years have passed. There are still two years left before the Sword King Tomb opens.
