"Sword Technique, Movement Technique, and Palm Technique have all been practiced quite a bit; it's time to return the manual." Checking the time, Ren Pingsheng recalled the rules of the Azure Wind Sword Sect and didn't dare to delay too much. After playing around with Little White Fox for a while, he leisurely made his way back.
"This Back Mountain is truly a great place for cultivation—quiet and undisturbed. The environment is elegant, with towering ancient trees, wild fruits everywhere, and babbling streams. It's much more comfortable than being in a room. It seems I should cultivate here in the Back Mountain from now on." Walking up the stone steps, Ren Pingsheng couldn't help but think.
" Elder , I'm here to return the manual." Upon arriving at the Library, Ren Pingsheng said with a smile.
"Oh, how has your cultivation been?" The Elder in Charge of the Library was somewhat of an old acquaintance. After all, when he was a Registered Disciple, Ren Pingsheng had spent a full three months on the first floor of the Library.
"The results have been quite good," Ren Pingsheng replied honestly.
"That's good to hear. Please register here before you leave."
On his way out, he encountered quite a few others returning manuals as well. Thinking about it, the six-month period for the current Registered Disciples had already arrived. He wondered how many of the three thousand youths who entered the sect with him had become Outer Sect Disciples and how many had left in disappointment.
After filling his stomach, Ren Pingsheng returned leisurely to his small courtyard. However, this time he didn't practice; instead, he sat in a soft chair in the courtyard and pondered.
"Now that my cultivation has shown initial results, it seems I need to go out and hone my practical combat skills. Moreover, I need to continue practicing the Nine Turns Body Refinement Technique. It would be best to find a place where flames gather." Ren Pingsheng felt that there wasn't much room for improvement in his strength in the short term, so he planned to sharpen his combat techniques and gain practical experience.
He understood the importance of real combat. Perhaps his current strength was decent, but if he were to face those who often walked on the edge of life and death in battle, he might not last long before being defeated or even losing his life.
This was also a common issue among many sect disciples—having exceptional strength without corresponding abilities. When faced with danger, they might die without understanding why, something that Ren Pingsheng could not tolerate.
Back when he was in the village, he had fought against Beasts alongside Blacksmith Wang in the Azure Mist Mountain. He had seen many people perish at the jaws of Beasts, which kept him vigilant and constantly reminded him of his own limitations.
"Alright, I'll take on a sect mission in a few days; it's perfect for both training and tasks. It seems I also need to look for some information about Azure Valley to see if there are any suitable terrains for practicing the Nine Turns Body Refinement Technique." He decided that his cultivation location would be in Azure Valley, which was also the preferred trial ground for both Outer Sect Disciple and Inner Sect Disciple of the Azure Wind Sword Sect.
The next day, Ren Pingsheng arrived early at the Library. His goal was the first floor of the Library.
Sure enough, he found some information about Azure Valley in a book regarding trial locations for sect disciples. A quick glance revealed an ideal spot: 'Lava Cave.
This place is quite famous; it was originally a volcano, but it hasn't erupted for many years and has long been abandoned. However, deep within the volcano, there is still geothermal energy gathering, and some Fierce Beasts have been living there, forming a natural cave that serves as a trial ground. Generally, few people go there due to the extreme temperatures that deter most.
"Yes, this is the right place; it's perfect for practicing the Nine Turns Body Refinement." Having found a suitable location, Ren Pingsheng felt relieved. After reviewing the other materials, he left the Library, as he had some preparations to make. He believed he would be away for several months.
"Hey, brother. There's someone dueling on the Dueling Platform; let's go check it out." Chu Xiao suddenly appeared from somewhere, grinning.
"Oh, I still have some things to take care of; I'm not interested."
"This time it's that guy named Huang Qing. I remember he's from the same place as you. I don't know what kind of elixir he took, but he actually broke through again and reached the Refining Qi Fifth Layer. He's among the top in our group."
"Broke through? That's pretty fast. Now I'm interested in seeing this." Ren Pingsheng was surprised. For the past three months, he had focused on practicing Sword Technique and Movement Technique. Although his Spiritual Energy was abundant, he hadn't rushed to break through to the fifth Meridian and had only opened half of them so far.
"Haha, let's hurry; I wonder how things are going over there now."
The two chatted and laughed as they arrived at the Outer Sect Disciple square's Dueling Platform. They saw two people fiercely battling on stage; one was Huang Qing, and the other was Kong Zhan. It seemed that this battle fanatic was indeed everywhere there was a fight.
"Hmph, your cultivation is inferior to mine now; you can't defeat me," Huang Qing sneered.
"So what if I can't? I'm about to break through to Dao Refinement Qi Level Five. You're just slightly ahead; there's no need to be so arrogant," Kong Zhan retorted defiantly.
"Haha, thinking back to how you guys acted when you were Registered Disciples and looking at your current awkwardness makes me feel good. Weren't you all so arrogant back then?"
"I see. With your narrow-mindedness, even if you lead for a moment, it's hard for you to achieve greatness." His tone was filled with disdain.
"I'm too lazy to waste words with you; watch my sword!" Huang Qing, with his higher cultivation level, gained the upper hand.
Before long, he won the match. However, it wasn't easy for him; he relied on his strength and deeper Spiritual Energy to win at the last moment. If they were at the same level of cultivation, he would have likely lost long ago.
"Oh, isn't this our great contributor from Azure Cloud Peak? Do you want to spar as well? Of course, if you're scared, I won't force you," Huang Qing said smugly on stage.
"I heard you've reached the Fifth Layer of Refining Qi, so let's see what you can do now." Ren Pingsheng's figure swayed and he appeared on the stage.
"Ah, Ren Shixiong, you're still at the Fourth Layer of Qi Refinement. Your progress is a bit slow. You had better talent than me back then!" Although he tried to appear surprised, in Bi Re's eyes, it was clearly schadenfreude.
"What does it matter if I'm at the Fourth Layer or the Fifth Layer? Let's see the real skill under our hands." His tone remained calm, without a hint of fluctuation.
"Hmph, you don't know what's good for you. Watch my Gale Sword Technique!" Huang Qing snorted coldly, drawing his steel sword, which stirred up a gust of wind as it swept towards Ren Pingsheng.
Ren Pingsheng's right hand trembled on the sword hilt, and the steel sword was instantly drawn. A condensed golden sword light shot through the air, as if piercing through the void, directly appearing before Huang Qing. It left only a faint trace that spread out in the air.
"How is this possible? It's actually Intermediate Sword Technique!" Huang Qing's face changed drastically, and he shouted in his heart. He barely had time to cross his steel sword in front of his chest before feeling a sharp pain in his chest as he was sent flying.
Huang Qing fell off the stage and couldn't help but spit out blood, feeling somewhat relieved in his chest. However, his face turned as dark as ink, as if he wanted to devour someone. Fortunately, when Ren Pingsheng attacked, he only used three parts of his strength; otherwise, he feared for his life.
"Wow! The Intermediate Sword Technique is indeed not something to be used casually. I only used three parts of my strength and consumed a third of my Spiritual Energy. It seems I can only use it as a killing move; once I strike, it must be a decisive blow. Otherwise, if my Spiritual Energy is exhausted, I'll just be at their mercy." Ren Pingsheng sheathed his sword and gained some understanding of his own strength.
"Good... good... I didn't expect you to be so ruthless against a fellow disciple. Let me teach you a lesson." Before Ren Pingsheng could leave the stage, he heard someone say this, followed by a gust of wind rushing from behind him.
His expression turned cold; activating the Phantom Moon Movement Technique, he moved and appeared three zhang away, directly avoiding the opponent's attack.
"Who are you?" Seeing the blue long robe worn by the opponent, Ren Pingsheng suppressed his impulse to strike. He calmed his surging blood; although he moved quickly just now, he was still grazed by the palm wind.
As for holding back from attacking, it was because judging from their attire, the opponent should be an Inner Sect Disciple with at least a cultivation level of Qi Refinement Seventh Layer. He did not believe that his current cultivation could match that of the other person.
"Hmph, I didn't expect you to have some strength; no wonder you're so arrogant." The broad-faced youth in blue looked somewhat harsh-lipped and spoke without courtesy.
"Oh? Compared to you, I'm far behind!" Ren Pingsheng lost his previous good temper and retorted sharply. Anyone would feel displeased after being ambushed for no reason, especially by someone stronger than themselves.
"What did you say? Don't you know that Outer Sect Disciples should show respect to Inner Sect Senior Brothers?" The other party's tone was icy and filled with anger. He never expected that someone he regarded as an ant would dare to speak to him like this.
"A shameless and brazen person like him doesn't deserve my respect," Ren Pingsheng said, returning to his previous indifferent demeanor, though his words were far from polite.
"Well, well... you sure have a sharp tongue. I'll teach you a lesson, you little brat who doesn't know your place," the broad-faced youth said, his anger evident as his eyes glinted with menace, looking ready to pounce.
"Big brother, you must teach him a good lesson! He always goes against me," Huang Qing shouted from the side, his face flushed as if he could already envision Ren Pingsheng begging for mercy.
"Ah, he's actually an Inner Sect Disciple? What is he doing here in our Outer Sect?" someone questioned in confusion.
"Hmph, he's going to fight with Outer Sect disciples? That guy is strong, but how could he possibly be a match for an Inner Sect Disciple? Truly foolish," another person sighed and shook his head.
On stage, Ren Pingsheng's expression shifted as he realized the identity of his opponent; it turned out to be Huang Qing's older brother. That made the situation more understandable. However, this person was indeed ruthless; that palm strike earlier had shown no mercy at all. If he hadn't dodged quickly, he would have likely been seriously injured and bedridden for three to four months.
Just as the broad-faced youth was about to make his move in anger, a light laugh suddenly rang out.
"Huang Feng, I see just how thick your skin is to actually lay hands on an Outer Sect Disciple. You're truly embarrassing us Inner Sect Disciples," a gentle voice drifted over as a refined young man appeared on stage, handsome and smiling, dressed in a similar blue robe.
"Feng Qingguan, do you dare meddle in my affairs?" Huang Feng shouted back, somewhat blustering.
"I'm simply unable to tolerate your bullying of the weak. It's one thing for you to embarrass yourself; don't drag us Inner Sect Disciples down with you," he replied without holding back.
"Fine, let's see how long you can protect him. For now, I won't hold it against him. But two months from now is the Outer Sect Disciples Competition; he'll have something to look forward to then. If he becomes an Inner Sect Disciple... heh heh..." Huang Feng sneered twice before turning and leaving with Huang Qing.
