Jiang Yating tightened the Snow-Colored Shawl around her, a faint smile gracing her lips as she looked at the Peony Petals she had personally planted. The fragrance that lingered in the air brought her a moment of relief. Tonight was no exception; Shaoyi still had not returned. She had long anticipated such lonely days, yet something in her heart remained unsettled. 0

"Yating, are you asleep?" Shangguan Yiting asked softly, afraid of disturbing her. 0

She came back to her senses and replied, "Not yet, sister. Is there something you need?" 0

"No, it's just that you're pregnant now, so you should pay more attention to resting. It's so late; don't wait up any longer. Go to sleep," she said, slightly furrowing her brow. Shangguan Yiting seemed to assume that Jiang Yating was waiting for Shaoyi, but in truth, she was merely lost in thoughts that troubled her. 0

Seeing Jiang Yating silent, a hint of gloom shadowed Shangguan Yiting's eyes. Despite Jiang Yating being pregnant, it hadn't brought a glance from Shangguan Shaoyi. Somehow, Shangguan Yiting suddenly recalled her own past—how she thought she could force love into existence when it was merely fleeting like mist. Proud by nature, she could never willingly let go. It wasn't until the person she loved passed away that she vaguely cleared the sorrowful memories buried in her heart. 0

She sighed, uncertain whether this was fate or a curse. 0

At around three in the morning, a phone rang nearby. Drowsy and reluctant to answer, Jiang Yating turned over in bed. However, the ringing continued insistently, prompting her to get up. Just as she did, the ringing abruptly stopped, and she happily returned to bed to continue sleeping. 0

Jiang Yating glanced at the Rosewood Clock, puzzled about who would call at such a late hour. She whispered softly to avoid waking anyone. 0

On the other end of the line was her father's strong voice. "Yating?" 0

Startled awake, she quickly responded, "Yes, Dad, it's me, Yating." 0

Jiang Shanghao seemed particularly cautious and lowered his voice significantly. "Is everyone else asleep?" 0

"Yes." She didn't hesitate; she had just heard that there was no movement from Shangguan Yiting's room and Shaoyi was not home. "Yes, I'm the only one awake right now. The phone on the second floor is in the hallway; I didn't hear anyone moving to answer it. Dad, if you have something to say, please feel free." 0

"Okay." On the other end of the phone, Jiang Shanghao paused, as if it was a significant matter. "Do you remember Nan Wan?" 0

"Uncle Nan? How could I forget? He and Dad are sworn brothers," Jiang Yating replied, quite puzzled. 0

"Hmph, I don't have a brother like him." Her father seemed quite angry. She fell silent for a moment, imagining her father's wide-eyed expression at that moment. Then she heard him say, "I asked him to help me, but he kept refusing. Yet when Cheng Yi asked him for help, he was eager to assist!" 0

Jiang Yating was taken aback, her pupils slightly dilating. She gently bit her lip, gazing at the peach blossom petals falling on the fluffy white carpet. Lowering her eyelids, she twisted the phone cord in her hands, momentarily speechless. Jiang Shanghao called her name twice before she snapped back to reality. "Dad, are you talking about Mr. Cheng Yi, Cheng Mosu's father?" 0

"Hmph, who else could it be?" Jiang Shanghao replied irritably. "Fortunately, I sent an undercover agent to the Southern Gang who promptly reported back to me!" 0

Her heart sank as she hurriedly asked, "What is it?" 0

"Hmph, it's Ruan Yu's wife! It's Cheng Mosu!" 0

Jiang Yating froze suddenly, her right hand suspended in mid-air. She should have realized that there couldn't possibly be two identical people in the world, but why did she let Cheng Mosu leave? As long as Cheng Mosu was around, the helplessness that came and went would block her heart and prevent her from finding peace. She didn't like Cheng Mosu; she didn't like the way Cheng Mosu and Shaoyi exchanged smiles without words; she didn't like their intimate glances. 0

If Cheng Mosu were dead, then Shaoyi would eventually see that distant past as a dream. If Cheng Mosu were still alive, she would never find peace. 0

"Does Shaoyi know about this?" After a long silence, she asked. 0

"He doesn't know. Nan Wan still remembers our brotherhood. When Shaoyi once asked him to investigate this matter, he refused, and Shaoyi didn't pursue it any further." 0

"Very well." Jiang Yating raised the corners of her lips into a charming smile, her teeth like pearls. "Dad, please help me find a few people to take care of Cheng Mosu. I want her to disappear from this world forever!" 0

Cheng Mosu looked at the dark night about to break into dawn, and a faint smile appeared on her Rose-Colored Lips. Ever since she met Shaoyi, she had begun to cherish the tranquility of the night. The deep, ink-like darkness reminded her of his similarly colored Eyes, making time feel distant and prolonged. 0

“Mosu, do you really have to go to Ruan Yu's residence?” Cheng Yi knew his daughter was incredibly stubborn; once she made a decision, she would not change it. Yet he still held a glimmer of hope and asked. 0

She lowered her beautifully shaped brows. Although spring had arrived and the greenery was flourishing before her, her heart remained in black and white. Only when those pitch-black pupils focused on her could she truly feel all emotions—joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness. She wanted to retrieve the diary that recorded their little moments together and hold onto the past. 0

Cheng Yi sighed, his tone turning stern. “What if I simply refuse to let you go?” 0

She paused slightly and retorted, “Dad, please agree to this. That thing is really important to me. Besides, since Ruan Yu has promised to let me go, how could he go back on his word?” 0

“Hmph! Do you think Ruan Yu is someone like Shaoyi who keeps his promises? After spending so much time with him, don’t you know? He is ruthless and will stop at nothing to get what he wants, even sacrificing family. If he has set his sights on you, how can you escape once you return?” 0

She fell silent for a moment as a gentle breeze brushed against her fair cheek. The streetlights dimmed their colors, and pear blossoms whispered as their petals danced in the air. Spring rain fell recklessly into her eyes without warning. She bit her Rose-Colored Lips and raised her bright Eyes, saying, “Dad, I want to go back and try. Although Ruan Yu may not treat others well, he has always kept his word with me. I believe he won’t do anything.” 0

“You!” Cheng Yi sighed again, unsure of what else to say. Just as they were at an impasse, a series of powerful gunshots suddenly rang out from outside. Cheng Yi frowned and said, “Could it be that Ruan Yu has come looking for you?” 0

Cheng Mosu felt uncertain as well. Following her Father outside, she indeed saw Ruan Yu dressed in military attire, riding a chestnut horse. His narrow Eyes were filled with a fierce light. “Mosu,” he said, “your trust in me truly pleases me. However, today I’m afraid I will have to disappoint you.” 0
