The ship swayed gently as she stood on the deck, the Seamless Sky merging into a blue and white line. The alternating emotions left her breathless; it had already been two days since he hardly spoke to her. The anxiety that wrapped around her heart made her Water Eyes ripple. She casually tossed the copper coin she had been playing with into the sea, where it emitted a faint, inaudible sound before being swallowed by the depths. 0

She turned around and returned to the cabin, her bare face serene. 0

That evening, during dinner, her father had slipped something into the drinks of her and Shaoyi. After they both passed out, he took them aboard the ship. When she woke up again, she found herself in a luxurious cabin. Reflecting on it, she understood what had happened. 0

She sighed; her father truly did not want her to be in danger, which was why he made such a decision. However, taking Shaoyi along to America was somewhat... 0

Under the soft glow of the lights, his sharply defined handsome face was filled with severity and coldness. She slowly walked in, and he lifted his pitch-black eyes, the icy atmosphere easing slightly. 0

“Shaoyi, are you going to eat?” She bit her Rose-Colored Lips, looking at his increasingly gaunt appearance and recalling how he had hardly eaten anything in the past two days, which made her heart ache. 0

He gave her a faint smile and shook his head, his gaze drifting into the distance. 0

Watching him in silence, she knew his mind was on the military. In a daze, she didn’t know what to say. After a moment of silence, she finally spoke softly, “You can’t go without food. I’ll see what there is to eat and bring something back for you.” 0

“No need.” His voice came through the sparse air with a hint of indifference. She froze for a moment, feeling as if she were dreaming. 0

Suddenly awake to the reality that he was probably upset with her now, mist filled her Water Eyes. After pondering for a moment, she turned around and closed the door. The heavy door panel made a clicking sound as a tear slipped down from the corner of her eye. 0

Cheng Yi observed everything quietly; he knew that doing this would not only make Shaoyi resent him but likely his daughter as well. Yet his mind was made up; even if these two were annoyed with him, he had to ensure his daughter's happiness and safety. Cheng Mo quietly wiped away the tears at the corner of her eye and then noticed her father's gaze. She forced a smile and said, “Dad, have you eaten? If not, let’s go together.” 0

Cheng Yi's expression darkened as he glanced at the heavy door. “Is Shaoyi still not eating?” 0

She paused for a moment, the heartache that had finally dissipated began to gather again. Her watery eyes trembled, and her long eyelashes, just moistened, sparkled intensely. "Um... it seems like he's punishing himself, sitting there without doing anything." 0

"Su'er, I'm sorry. I took matters into my own hands. He probably misunderstands that you and I are in cahoots. I'll go explain it to him." 0

She hurriedly grabbed Cheng Yi's arm and shook her head. "He wouldn't think that. Right now, he doesn't have the mood to consider such things; he's probably worried about those troops." Her voice grew softer and lighter, almost imperceptible if one didn't listen closely. "The morale is already low; if the commander goes missing now, who knows what chaos will ensue..." 0

"Su'er." Cheng Yi patted the back of her hand, his gaze deep. "Given the circumstances, don't dwell on those thoughts. Right now, he is with you; there is no war, no life and death. If you can live out the rest of your lives peacefully like this, that's enough." 0

"Yes." She lowered her gaze, her fair face showing no signs of emotional fluctuation, concealing her true thoughts. Silence lingered in the air, carrying a hint of coldness and suspicion. He thought she would remain silent like this, but then she lifted her eyes and smiled. "Dad, I'm hungry. Let's go eat." 0

Her conversation with Cheng Yi was not loud, yet he heard it clearly. He rubbed his swollen temples as the bright light in his brow slightly dimmed. 0

The heavy door creaked open as she entered with a tray in hand. The corners of her lips hesitated slightly but ultimately broke into a smile. He looked down at the food on the tray; his black eyes brightened at the sight of a bowl of fragrant beef congee placed in a blue porcelain bowl—it smelled delightful. 0

She smiled sideways at him. "I know you're not in a good mood, but you still need to eat. This congee may not be great, but please eat a little for my sake." 0

He paused for a moment, and the room was filled with an anxious silence. Those troubling matters were temporarily pushed aside as he looked into her clear and gentle eyes, unconsciously softening his demeanor. He reached for the spoon, scooped up a bite, and brought it to his mouth. 0

She smiled slightly; just watching him eat brought her immense satisfaction. However, after only two bites, he stopped. Her heart skipped a beat as she asked, "Why aren't you eating? Is it not good?" 0

He lowered his gaze to her forehead where beads of sweat had formed and met her clear eyes before finally smiling back at her. "Mo Su, it's hot." 0

Her face flushed red as she turned away her eyes. "I was too hasty; take your time eating." 0

"Okay." He replied, slowly stirring the bowl of porridge. Her previously tense mood eased with his increasingly gentle tone. After a long while, he finished the porridge, the slowest he had ever eaten. Noticing her still staring at him, he couldn't help but smile and ruffle her hair. She paused in silence, then smiled back at him, her smile like a warm breeze, brushing against his heart. 0

"Mo Su." For some reason, when he called these two syllables, they always sounded so pleasant. She responded, and he continued, "I have to go back eventually. No matter who the army is following now or how much territory has been lost, I will return." 0

"I know." She answered without hesitation, her clear Water Eyes shining brightly, her fair complexion radiating a gentle beauty. "You hate deserters the most, so you wouldn't seek comfort for yourself. I said I would stay with you; wherever you are, I will be there too." 0

He opened his mouth as if to say something, but the heavy door was suddenly pushed open with a loud bang, indicating the anger of the person entering. He concealed the sharpness in his gaze and tried to remain calm as he looked at the person and said, "Father-in-law." 0

Cheng Yi realized he had momentarily lost his composure and coughed twice to ease his irritation. He then said to Cheng Mo Su, "Su'er, you go out first; there are some things I want to discuss privately with Shaoyi." 0

Cheng Mo Su bit her Rose-Colored Lips, her eyes shimmering as she hesitated for a moment before shaking her head in refusal. "Dad, is there something I can't hear?" 0

Cheng Yi paused for a moment. "If you want to listen, that's fine; it's not something shameful." He looked at Shangguan Shaoyi, anger flickering in his eyes. "Why do you still want to go back? Don't you realize that you have probably become an unknown dead man? Your subordinates are not fools; they wouldn't really wait for you to return. The army has likely changed drastically by now; there may not be a place for you when you go back." 0

"That's right." He spoke in a deep voice, his brow furrowed with determination and sharpness evident in his black-and-white pupils. "Father-in-law, you're absolutely correct, but you're a businessman; it's in your nature to seek profit and avoid harm. My mind isn't as sharp as yours; I only do what I believe is right." He paused slightly, his tone carrying a hint of resolve. "Going back to the battlefield is what I believe is right." 0
