Xiao Zuowei couldn't bear to see Cheng Mo Su in such a state, so he stepped forward and grabbed Shangguan Shaoyi. Shangguan Shaoyi's sharply defined features twitched slightly, and his still healing body ached all over. Xiao Zuowei, unaware of the complexities, shouted, "Little Su has traveled for days to see you; why are you treating her like this?" 0

Shangguan Shaoyi turned around, his gaze cold and deep. Without saying a word, he brushed off Xiao Zuowei's elbow resting on his shoulder. The two stared at each other in silence, neither willing to concede an inch. 0

Xiao Zuowei glanced at Cheng Mo Su behind him, sighed, and pulled Cheng Mo Su closer. "Shaoyi, Little Su knows you’re injured and came all this way. I’m leaving her with you; you two should have a good talk." 0

However, Shangguan Shaoyi ignored him completely, his cold eyes fixed on the distance, silent and breathing heavily. Cheng Mo Su lowered her gaze, and the distance between them silently stretched further until it vanished. 0

His peripheral vision swept over her; that deep and complex gaze made her inexplicably anxious. He withdrew his gaze, feeling that she had lost a few more pounds, which pained him. Even at this moment, her every smile could easily disturb his emotions. He realized how deeply he cherished that gentle smile. 0

He turned away, lowering his eyes as he stepped forward into the tent. Cheng Mo Su's heart sank instantly, her brows furrowing as she tried to hide the tears that were about to spill. 0

Before she could react, Xiao Zuowei rushed in, even Shen Mingliang couldn't stop him. 0

"What do you mean by this? Why are you ignoring Little Su? She came all this way to see you..." 0

"Enough." Shangguan Shaoyi finally spoke up, cutting him off harshly without looking at him. "There’s an important battle tomorrow that we cannot take lightly; please take her back." 0

Xiao Zuowei was taken aback. He knew Shangguan Shaoyi was usually cold and taciturn, but he also understood that Shangguan Shaoyi would never treat Cheng Mo Su like this. He was unclear about what had happened between them but couldn’t bear to see Cheng Mo Su's sad smile and watery eyes. 0

"Little Su came specifically to see you; if you let her leave, you can explain it to her yourself." 0

Shangguan Shaoyi paused for a moment, unable to distinguish whether it was physical pain or emotional hurt causing his breath to quicken. He reached for a medicine bottle and randomly swallowed a few pills before his breathing finally calmed down. 0

"You..." Xiao Zuowei looked at his pale face and couldn't help but ask, "Are you seriously injured?" 0

"No." He replied coldly, "I just almost died." 0

Xiao Zuowei moved his lips. Although he knew he shouldn't ruin the relationship between Shangguan Shaoyi and Shangguan Yiting, he still decided to speak up about what he knew. Before he could say anything, he saw Shangguan Shaoyi stand up, and he hurriedly asked, "Where are you going?" 0

"As you wish, tell her to go back." 0

"What are you talking about?! Do you know what the consequences of doing this are? You and Xiao Su will be finished!" Xiao Zuowei quickly blocked his path and said sternly. 0

Shangguan Shaoyi stared at him, a cold smile on his face, his gaze deep and restrained. "Didn't you tell me to say goodbye to her?" 0

"You..." Xiao Zuowei felt speechless. "When did you start listening to others' opinions like this?" 0

Shangguan Shaoyi's gaze was like a lonely star; although brilliant, it lacked a sense of belonging. He pushed Xiao Zuowei aside. In a moment of desperation, Xiao Zuowei punched him in the chest. The wound on his chest suddenly burst open, and a wave of dizzying pain engulfed his entire body. 0

Everything went black, and he collapsed. 0

When he woke up again, it was already late at night. He found her sitting beside him, staring blankly at him. Next to her were the serious-faced Deputy Officer Shen and the guilt-ridden Xiao Zuowei. Seeing him awake, all three of them showed expressions of joy. 0

"Shaoyi, I'm sorry. I didn't know you were hurt so badly." Xiao Zuowei said apologetically. Just now, when he casually pushed Shangguan Shaoyi, he fainted. When the doctor arrived to re-bandage him, the three of them finally saw how deep that wound was. Now thinking back on that bright red color was truly shocking. 0

"It's nothing." He forced himself to sit up. "If I'm going to die, it will be on the battlefield; there's no way I would die at your hands. Don't overthink it." 0

As soon as she heard anything about life and death, Cheng Mo felt a sharp pain in her heart. She raised her misty eyes, wanting to explain to Shangguan Shaoyi, but looking at his cold demeanor, the words got stuck in her throat. She didn't know how to bring it up or what to say. 0

"Mr. Xiao, Miss Cheng, you promised me that once the Young Marshal wakes up, you would leave. That's why I let you stay here. Now that the Young Marshal is awake, you can go." Shen Mingliang's face was ashen, his dissatisfaction with Cheng Mo Su evident. If it weren't for her, how could the Young Marshal have gone through the gates of hell again? 0

"Deputy Officer Shen..." Xiao Zuowei was about to say something when he was grabbed by Cheng Mo Su. He looked into her water-colored eyes and heard her gentle voice laced with unmasked sadness. "Forget it, Zuowei Gege, let's go. We shouldn't cause any more trouble for everyone here." 0

Xiao Zuowei felt a sharp pain in his heart. He couldn't understand why someone as uncontentious as Cheng Mo Su would be treated so cruelly by the world. Reluctantly, he stood up as Cheng Mo Su pulled on his arm, taking a couple of steps forward. Out of the corner of his eye, he caught sight of Shangguan Shaoyi still looking cold and distant. He hesitated for a moment, recalling how he had once disregarded Cheng Mo Su's wishes and walked straight over to Shangguan Shaoyi, glaring at him. 0

"What are you doing? I told you to leave!" Shen Mingliang began to shove them again. 0

"Shangguan Shaoyi! I just want to ask you a few things." Xiao Zuowei said with a serious expression. "Do you know that because she wants to be with you, Uncle Cheng has severed ties with Xiao Su?" 0

Shangguan Shaoyi clearly did not know this; his pitch-black pupils trembled slightly as his gaze finally shifted to Cheng Mo Su. However, she shrank back a little, gently biting her rose-colored lips. 0

"Do you know that she has faced all kinds of exclusion and neglect at your home because of this?" Xiao Zuowei continued to raise his voice. "And last time when you were seriously injured, Deputy Officer Shen called home, but it was Miss Shangguan who answered. She didn't even tell Xiao Su that you were hurt until yesterday. That's why Xiao Su came to see you these past few days, rushing over without even stopping to eat. Did you know any of this?" 0

The pain in Shangguan Shaoyi's heart grew stronger, like countless tiny needles piercing him. His gaze lingered deeply on Cheng Mo Su's pale profile; her skin was bloodless white, and her once calm water-colored eyes were now disturbed with ripples. She lowered her delicate head, and he found it hard to breathe as the things he had not understood crashed into his mind, stirring emotions that echoed within him. 0

His voice remained cold and resolute, but it seemed to be slowly melting under some warmth. Finally, he spoke to Cheng Mo Su for the first time since their meeting. 0

"Mo Su, come here." 0
