I leaned against the wall and slowly crouched down, tears streaming uncontrollably down my face. I had done everything I could. The rest was left to fate. I don't know how long it had been, but I stood up and wiped my tears away. I told myself that no matter the outcome, I would have no regrets. I turned and walked away, my figure disappearing into the sunset.
But I didn't notice that outside Su Yingqing's house, Su Family Parents were quietly standing there, their expressions dark as they watched my retreating figure. "Is that her?" Madam Su asked coldly. "Yes," the butler replied softly, "she is Zhao Yuran." Su Family Parents exchanged glances and coldly stated, "She must not be allowed to be with Qingqing."
I returned home in a daze, feeling heavy-hearted. I didn't know what answer Su Yingqing would give me, but I had already done everything within my power. All I sought was a result, even if it was one of despair. I don't know how long it took, but eventually, I fell asleep.
The next day, I was awakened by a series of urgent knocks on the door. I opened it to find the butler from the Su Family standing there, looking serious and even somewhat angry. "Miss Zhao, my master wishes to see you," he said. Confused, I followed the butler to the Su Family.
As soon as I entered, I saw Su Family Parents sitting sternly on the sofa. They looked at me coldly, their eyes filled with disdain. "What do you want with me?" I asked cautiously. "What is your relationship with Qingqing?" Madam Su asked coldly.
I was taken aback and replied softly, "We... are friends."
"Friends?" Mr. Su sneered, "Is that what you think?"
I looked at him, a hint of panic flashing in my eyes.
"What do you... mean?"
"Zhao Yuran, I don't care what your relationship with Qingqing is," Madam Su said coldly as she stared at me. "You cannot be with her."
My face turned pale instantly.
"Why..." I asked, my voice trembling.
"No why." Madam Su said expressionlessly, "We do not accept you; it's that simple."
A glimmer of despair crossed my eyes.
"But..."
"There is no 'but.'" Madam Su interrupted me, "Zhao Yuran, I will not allow you to get close to Qingqing again."
A flash of unwillingness appeared in my eyes.
"On what grounds can you do this?"
"We are her parents," Madam Su said coldly, "We have the right to do so."
I clenched my fists tightly but couldn't refute them.
The Su family parents stared at me coldly.
I lowered my head, filled with despair.
"Zhao Yuran, take care of yourself," Madam Su said with a sneer.
"We will not accept you," Mr. Su's words were even harsher, leaving me no room for negotiation.
I turned away weakly and walked toward the door.
At that moment, Mr. Su called out to me.
"Wait." He looked at me, his gaze deep, "Have we met before?"
I was startled and replied softly, "No."
"Really not at all?" Mr. Su stared at me intently. "But I always feel like I've seen you somewhere before."
Madam Su also approached and scrutinized me closely.
"Now that you mention it... I do think you look a bit familiar," she said, furrowing her brows. "Have we met somewhere?"
I nervously shook my head. "You must have mistaken me for someone else."
The Su family parents exchanged glances but said nothing further.
They let me go, warning me once again to stay away from Su Yingqing.
My heart was filled with confusion and pain.
Why did they feel familiar to me?
What should I do?
I walked home in a daze, my mind in turmoil.
