In the center of the hall, there was a massive magic circle. At the center of the magic circle, a dark glow was slowly rising. Underworld emerged from the shadows, looking at us with pride.
"You really found your way here."
"How surprising." Underworld laughed heartily.
"What do you want?" I glared coldly at Underworld.
"Of course, to usher in a new era." Underworld looked at me, eyes filled with madness.
"An era belonging to Underworld."
Moyuan and I exchanged a glance and charged towards Underworld simultaneously. But before we could reach it, we were repelled by an invisible force.
"You cannot stop me." Underworld looked at me and waved its hand.
Everything went dark in front of us, and when we opened our eyes again, we had returned to the library. Ouyang Xue appeared at the entrance of the library. There was not a trace of a smile on her face.
"Do you know what consequences come with using the power of the Sacred Artifact?" Ouyang Xue looked at us, her tone serious.
Moyuan and I exchanged glances, remaining silent.
"The power of the Sacred Artifact is not something you can control." Ouyang Xue sighed.
"It will attract unimaginable evil spirits to this place."
"When that happens, not just the academy, but the entire world will be in crisis."
A heaviness settled in my heart along with Moyuan's.
"But we have no choice left." I said softly.
Ouyang Xue was silent for a moment before speaking up.
"Perhaps there is still one way."
I was taken aback along with Moyuan and quickly looked at Ouyang Xue.
"We can stop the Underworld at its source," Ouyang Xue said slowly.
"The Sacred Artifact itself possesses immense power. If we can re-seal this power, we might be able to thwart the Underworld's plans."
"Do you have a way?" Moyuan asked eagerly.
Ouyang Xue nodded and took out a piece of parchment.
"This contains an ancient Sealing Ritual."
"Using this ritual, we can re-seal the power of the Sacred Artifact."
"But..." Ouyang Xue paused, looking at us.
"This ritual requires three conditions."
Moyuan and I looked at Ouyang Xue, our eyes filled with curiosity.
"First, the blood of a descendant of the original holder of the Sacred Artifact."
"Second, it must be performed on a full moon night."
"Third..." Ouyang Xue hesitated for a moment before continuing.
"A soul is needed as a sacrifice."
Moyuan and I were stunned; this condition was hard for us to accept.
Did we have to sacrifice a life to stop the Underworld's plans?
"But..." I hesitated, unsure how to express myself.
"There are no buts," Ouyang Xue said, looking at me with a hint of compassion in her eyes.
"This is the only way to seal the Sacred Artifact."
"We don't have time to look for other options."
I fell silent.
"I understand," Moyuan said, nodding with a flash of determination in his eyes.
"I will take responsibility for finding the descendants of the original holder of the Sacred Artifact."
Ouyang Xue nodded and then looked at me, saying, "I will study the information on this parchment further to see if there is a way to avoid sacrifice."
"Then let's split up for now."
Just as Moyuan and I were about to leave, a cold voice interrupted us.
"Stop."
We halted in our tracks, surprised to see Lei Zhen standing at the door, his expression stern and his eyes flashing with undeniable authority.
"You cannot do this."
Lei Zhen looked at us with a firm tone.
"Why not?"
Moyuan replied somewhat defiantly.
"Using the power of the Sacred Artifact is extremely dangerous," Lei Zhen said slowly. "I cannot allow you to proceed."
"But this is the only way to stop the Underworld," I couldn't help but interject.
Lei Zhen looked at me, a hint of complexity in his eyes. "I know you want to stop the Underworld. But using the power of the Sacred Artifact could lead to even greater disasters. You must stop this plan."
There was a note of command in Lei Zhen's voice.
"We understand," Moyuan nodded.
