I knelt beside the Old Hunter. His face looked so calm, with even a hint of a smile at the corners of his mouth. Yet I felt no warmth at all. I began to doubt whether we truly understood the inner world of shadows. What kind of existence were we really fighting against?
The Shadow Girl held my hand tightly; her hand was cold, but it was filled with determination and passion. "We can't give up easily!" Her tone was light, yet full of strength. "The sacrifice of the Old Hunter was definitely not in vain; we must keep moving forward."
"To uncover the truth, to uphold justice." I wiped away my tears and slowly stood up, ready to rejoin the battle. "Everyone, gather around!" I shouted to my team members.
My teammates, filled with fear and doubt, immediately gathered around me, but their eyes reflected the same determination I felt. We had seen and lost so much already. We absolutely could not allow these sacrifices to be in vain.
We wielded our weapons and threw ourselves wholeheartedly into this final battle. We engaged in a fierce struggle against the Shadow Weaver. Our weapons cut through the darkness, creating dazzling flashes of light; each attack gathered all our strength and resolve.
Just when we thought victory was within our grasp, the Shadow Weaver suddenly burst into laughter. His power grew stronger, and his words dripped with madness. "Did you really think you could defeat me?"
"I will never lose."
"In this game, I will always be the winner."
I gripped my weapon tightly, a wave of worry and determination for the future surged within me.
"We will never give up," I declared loudly.
"No matter what difficulties we face, we will persevere until the end."
I looked around and saw the expressions on each companion's face.
In their eyes, there was both fear and doubt, but more than that, there was a determination similar to mine.
"Our city and the people we must protect are behind us."
"We cannot back down; we have no other path to take."
"We will definitely achieve victory."
"For those we believe in and those who trust us."
"We will hold on until the very last moment."
"We really can do this," Shadow Girl said as she slowly walked over to me.
Her tone was filled with confidence, sounding so reliable.
"Because we are united, and because our Shadow Heart possesses immense power, we will surely defeat that guy."
I couldn't help but nod; she sounded so certain that it had to be right.
Then I turned around and shouted with all my might to the entire team, "Let's work together and show Shadow Weaver who will ultimately have the last laugh!"
I felt a bit of fear and hesitation creeping into my heart—what should I do about this? It seemed I needed a reason to bolster my confidence and keep going.
At that moment, I sensed a strong energy flowing within me.
It was the power of Shadow Heart surging through my body; I felt tightly connected to the lifeblood of this city, intertwined with every life within it.
Our battle was not just for meaningless honor or power; it was to protect every life.
"Our fight is not for self-satisfaction!" I shouted passionately.
"We are the last line of defense for this city."
"We fight to defend our home."
