After searching for a long time, I finally found a few symbols that were similar to those drawn in my notebook. I then compared these symbols with those on the stone door to see if I could figure out how to open it. After much effort and research, I finally discovered the trick to opening the door. The stone door emitted a low rumbling sound and slowly opened, revealing a narrow path leading deep into the tower.
The three of us exchanged glances, gritted our teeth, and stepped inside the tower. However, the interior of the tower was not the mysterious ancient place they had imagined. Instead, it resembled a super complex maze, with every intersection seemingly leading into endless darkness.
"This place is just a maze!" Xiao Jie couldn't help but shout. Old Li tightly gripped the flashlight, his eyes filled with vigilance. "We need to find the right path; otherwise, we'll be trapped here."
We kept trying various routes in the maze, but each time we returned empty-handed. The mechanisms and traps within the maze made every step we took feel perilous. Just when we were about to give up, we suddenly saw a familiar figure appear before us—it was Molly.
She looked somewhat disheveled, but her eyes still sparkled with determination. I widened my eyes at her. "How did you end up here?"
Molly let out a cold laugh. "I've been following you all along; I knew you would definitely uncover the secrets of the tower."
Old Li furrowed his brow. "How did you know we would come here?"
A smug smile appeared on Molly's face. "Because I know this city very well; I know that the tower is the key for us to leave this place."
I stared into her eyes.
"Do you know how to crack these mechanisms?"
Molly's response left us all stunned.
"Actually, I know more than you can imagine, including about this tower and this city."
We were lost in this towering building, unable to find an exit.
At that moment, the girl named Molly suddenly appeared, startling us, but she brought a glimmer of hope.
Old Li looked at Molly with a wary expression.
"Why do you keep following us?"
Molly coldly replied,
"Because I need your help to unravel the mystery of this building."
I stared into her eyes, trying to find any signs of deceit.
"Why do you think we can solve this mystery?"
The corners of Molly's mouth lifted slightly, revealing a mysterious smile.
"Because you are the ones chosen by this city; only you have the ability to unravel this mystery."
Old Li patted my shoulder.
" 顧墨, I think we should trust her for now. Our situation is critical, and we can only find a way out if we work together."
Xiao Jie nodded in agreement.
"That's right; for now, we can only temporarily join forces to find a way out."
Thus, the four of us decided to team up temporarily to find an exit.
Molly's presence made us more cautious, but she also helped us avoid some traps as we slowly approached the center of the building.
As we delved deeper, the secrets of the building gradually came to light.
However, the guards reappeared, stronger than before, trying to stop us from getting closer to the truth.
Faced with their obstruction, we had to hurry.
